The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 115: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN
As I walked into the cell, it was obvious it had recently been cleaned, the smell of cleaning agents thick in the air.
Ares brought a chair for me and I sat down, trying to steady my erratically beating heart.
“Father?” I finally got the courage to call out but it seemed he'd passed out.
“Wait, I have a solution to that,” Ares replied and he stepped out.
As I waited for him to come back, my mind went to what I had intended to find out from him and if I was ready for the answers.
Even though the cell was squishy clean, even the toilet by the side, an odd stench oozed from the man, making me wonder when last he'd gotten a bath.
Ares came back in, carrying a bucket of water and before I could ask him why, he dumped it on father's head.
The result was instant.
He opened his eyes, saw me and then hatred from the very pits of hell covered his face making me wonder one last time what I ever did wrong to the man.
It was the main reason I was here and I had made up my mind to lay it to rest even if I didn't get an answer.
I needed to heal completely, and not just from the injuries that never left scars.
“Hello Father, nice to see you again,” I said coolly, keeping my emotions in a calm state.
I didn't want to show how troubled I felt by this. I'd expected to be happy he was finally getting punished but I didn't want anyone to suffer on my account.
All I ever wanted was for him to love me or at least leave me the fuck alone but he insisted on being a constant cause of pain and torment in my life until a goddess I didn't even know existed saved me.
“Well, don't you look fattened up. You've forgotten your training so fast,” he growled in annoyance.
“No, I look healthy because I finally escaped your grasp and nothing of that sort is ever happening again. Besides, I came here to get answers and you're going to give them to me. You owe me that,”
“I owe you nothing but a severe beating for letting these beasts nearly kill me!” She shouted.
“And you'll be dead sooner than you can blink if you talk to her like that again! She asks questions, you answer without wasting a damn time or you'll be getting more than beat up!” Ares stepped in and for the first time in my life, I saw fear flash through his eyes.
Then resignation. It seemed he had come to the obvious conclusion that he was literally on death row and nothing was going to change.
No one was coming to rescue him this time around.
“I just want to know why. It's the one question I'd never been able to figure out. Like right now, I can read every facial expression on your face because I spent all my life trying to do whatever you wanted but you still hated me. I couldn't please you, it was impossible and everything always came down to a punishment. You made my childhood a nightmare and I just want to know why,” I poured out like a broken dam, going straight to the point.
He looked at me with his reddened and puffy eyes and said;
“Because you were a plague in our lives that we couldn't get rid of,” with a mean look.
“That's too vague. Explain yourself properly, you're an educated man. Yes, we looked into you. You were a professor of the sciences until you decided it wasn't paying enough for your money hungry wife and y'all began dabbling into crap,” Ares snarled at him.
I realized now that my mates hated him with so much passion and would have killed him long ago if they weren't being conscious of my feelings.
“I'm sorry, You're right. My late friend and I had been kidnapping children for ransom and getting a lot of money from it. He used his own money to gamble and I spent mine on Leticia who till date still has an obsession with diamonds. Of all hobbies to have, it's the most expensive,” he said, rolling his eyes.
“Nobody cares about that, man. You could have left her and found a woman you could afford so fucking focus!” Ares sneered.
“But I couldn't! I don't know why but I more than loved my wife and I will die for her so we decided to up the stakes and do it on the bigger side of town. We went to a park where these rich snobby families went out to sunbathe and shit and we got you. Turns out, the woman was extremely rich and we'd collected a huge amount of ransom three times before she found us. For some reason, she came alone. No police or anything. Of course we had to kill her because she definitely was going to rat us out and I wasn't going to jail for nobody,”
“Well, look at you now,” Ares snapped and I took a deep breath, speechless from everything I was hearing.
Flynn had already mentioned I'd been given to a witch but hearing she'd died for me made me so sad I had to pinch myself so I won't bawl out in tears right there. Here I was, thinking no one had ever loved me but instead, it turns out this bastard had taken her away from my life.
Then he continued.
“That night, I discovered witchcraft was real. As she bled out in that warehouse, she cursed us all and used her dying breath to tie you to us until someone good took you off our hands. We couldn't have our own kids after that, couldn't hold a job, couldn't make friends or have any form of help. Every month, a little amount of money came in, enough to sort our needs but nothing else and when you were old enough to work, I knew it was time you began proving more useful than a monthly check,”
“So none of that was my fault? You put me through hell because you were charged with a responsibility that was supposed to make you a better person?,” I lashed out, finally unlocking that well of anger that I'd been pushing down.
“You won't understand! Our lives had ended and I couldn't do anything for Leticia. We sold all the diamonds I'd bought for her and she was so miserable. Yet, you were there, miraculously getting healed in seconds after every time I lashed out in anger and frustration. If we had kidnapped another child instead of you, we would have had a happy life!”
“It was your fault! You could have found a better way of life. What is wrong with you? I know your moral compass is broken but this is another level of fucked up!”
“Yea, right. Easy for you to say because you're getting fucked by three billionaires. Who knew you'd turn out to be such a whore?” He snapped and the slap he got from Ares reminded me that he was still in the cell with us and that he was going to protect me physically but emotionally, I was a wreck and nobody could do anything about it.
“Don't you dare talk about my mate like that again. At the end of the day, you are a failed man so I guess nothing positive can ever come out of your charred lips,” Ares sneered at his bleeding face.
Well, have I answered your questions? I'm tired of seeing your pathetic face,”
“Where is Leticia,” I asked him.
“Why are you asking? Look, she's just a victim in all of this. She has hated me for putting her through this and I don't want you to hurt her, please I beg if you,” he pleaded, his eyes going from me to Ares but he knew that wasn't an option.
“You have to tell him so he can make your death quick. I don't think you want to see that side of Ares, I hear he's a professional interrogator,” I told him and I wasn't even lying.
It was a side of him that they all tried hiding from me.
“Listen, she's back at the house but she didn't do anything to you, just let her go. Once I die, the curse will be broken and she'll be able to live a bit of a normal life,”
“And what makes you think you deserve any sort of good from us? In fact, I just sent a couple of warriors over and she's going to watch you die before we send her off to our vampire friends so they can give her a ‘normal life’,” Ares snapped at him, his fingers making the quotes sign in front of his face
“Baby, I think I've had enough, let's go,” I said, about to throw up.
“Alright Mama, come on,” he said as he took my hand and we walked out of there, my foster father's pleas for his wife chasing after us.
My feelings were in a state of despair as I hung unto my mate.
