The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 198: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND NINETY-EIGHT
Lyra flew for hours on end, the fear of getting into an altercation keeping us airborne.
I remembered the giant that I'd killed and shivered at the memory. I had no idea how the other siblings were taking it and I wouldn't want to deal with anyone's retaliation after the day I'd had.
Throughout the night, we flew, and I realized we were going faster this time around.
Not only were we stronger, there was a sense of danger in the air as the issue with Zeus remained unsolved.
I hoped to be able to get back to my territory before the end of the day as I could sense Lyra's tiredness.
“Are you sure we shouldn't stop and rest somewhere?” I suggested again, scared for her health.
“It's too risky. Besides, I feel stronger than ever, so don't worry, okay?” She reassured me.
I was grateful for the possibility of her being here with me because this journey would have been impossible without her.
I got up from her back for a few minutes as I did at intervals so she wouldn't be overly stressed.
“Aurora, you don't have that much weight. Sit down before something goes wrong.”
“I just feel terrible for putting you through this,” I whined, but obeying her instructions regardless.
The terrain was rough, and the wind was harsh, so she had a point. I just wanted to help in whatever way I could, which wasn't much.
I'd fed her water as we flew with my magic, but that was about it.
If I was at the peak of my strength, I would have been able to teleport us back home, but that was impossible.
Through the scorching sun, we flew without rest until we got back to my domain in the evening.
Even though Lyra insisted on being fine, she landed a little too hard, showing me how tired the journey made her.
“Bez!” I called for help, confused about what to do to help her.
“Don't worry so much, I just need to sleep and rest. I'll feel better soon,” she assured me but I was still scared.
She was pregnant, and I'd just put her through more than twenty-four hours of flying. Bez ran out of the house with a few servants at his behest.
“Food, water and her pit must be cleaned out. She needs to rest as soon as possible,” I commanded and they set to work.
“How was your trip?” He asked me with concern.
“You didn't tell me these gods were so.. dramatic,” I mumbled as I took off the harness on her and began walking away from the backyard where I had built a dragon pit for Lyra. Hopefully, she'd be able to bring Scarlet here one day and I'll expand it for her too.
“They're a weird bunch. My father always acted weird when he was heading to the annual ball. Dressed differently, even developed new eating habits to suit what was happening at the capital. He said it was easy for Zeus to lock you up and everyone else would go along with it,” he told me as we headed inside.
“Apparently, everyone is scared of me and they're trying so hard to get me under control. Selene even wants to remove my mate bond. Can you imagine?”
“Does she have the power to do that?”
“With the power the werewolves give to her, she's capable of a lot of things so I won't put it past her to try. But I'll raise hell if anything happens,” I hissed in anger.
“Hopefully it doesn't get to that. Welcome back. Let me know if you need anything, there's a lot of work to do so I'll be going back to the soul room.”
I nodded as he teleported away from the living room.
I didn't want to expand my energy, but I didn't want to walk either, so I did the same thing, appearing in my room immediately.
Right there on the bed was my mate, Ares.
“I've missed your scent, it's all I've been looking for. The one in here has gone a bit stale,” he said with a look of longing and I nearly jumped on him, hugging him with so much excitement.
“I've missed you so much,” I croaked as tears welled in my eyes.
The last few days had taken its toll on me, making me terrified of losing this bond.
But thankfully, with him back in my arms, the bond snapped back with force, the feeling of his muscular arms making me tingly all over.
“How are you Mama? How is the baby?” He asked while sniffing my neck and shoulders.
“Honestly, I'm tired.”
“Did something happen?”
“How much time do you have?”
“Three days. I don't know how long that is in Limbo time but Axel is handling everything until I get back.”
“A week or so,” I replied and moved back to properly look at him.
He looked tired, and I guess we shared that in common. I breathed in that forest and pinewood scent that always made me feel better and I smiled.
This was my home and I won't let anyone take them away from me.
“Do you want me to bathe you?” he asked with concern, and I remembered how tired I was from the day's journey.
“Yes, I'll love that. I've been in the air for the past day, who knows what I've inhaled,”
“Tell me about it while I bathe you, hm?”
I nodded and got up off his body, heading to the bathroom with him behind me.
“How was your journey here?”
“It was fine, if you exclude the giants in the darkness that wanted my head,” he chuckled as he began taking off my clothes.
“Are they by any chance twins?” I asked, my heart racing.
“How did you know that?”
“I may have killed the third one.”
“Damn, my woman is a badass goddess, I love it,” he chuckled while slapping my ass.
As he washed me carefully, paying special attention to my delicate parts, I gave him all the details of my journey and just like the amazing mate that he is, he listened, only interjecting to get clarifications.
When we got out of the bathroom, a pigeon had dropped a letter on the window.
“Is he in love with you or something?” Ares laughed as he read the contents of the letter.
As I picked it up to read, I prayed this didn't degenerate into something drastic. I would definitely hurt him if he threatened my mates, but I didn't want it to ever get to that point.
