The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 159: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY-NINE

“So you could talk to us all these while?” I asked, astounded.

“Of course. But I wasn't going to allow a link from a wolf that hasn't proven himself to me. Now, get off your ass and deal with them, we don't need a power tussle after all of this,” she commanded and even though my wolf didn't feel too comfortable with someone else calling the shots, I knew it was the right thing to do.

I walked out of the shed that I had taken Aurora to into the open field. Warriors from my pack and DarkMoon were gathering their dead and the spoils of war while the army that I'd called for since morning stood at the edge of the forest ok both ends, watching in confusion.

Funny how they decided to come right when the war was already over instead of in the heat of it. We'd gotten here at three am and the war had lasted for twelve hours. It would have taken them two hours to mobilize and another three to get here considering how close the battlefield was to their territory. I'd helped defend them with my pack and Lyra's dragons which was why these bastards were restricted to this field and yet, they hear my call and wait till it was over before showing up.

I knew what their game was; they'd expected us to be quite exhausted and depleted so when they finally came to our aid, we'd be at their mercy but with a flock of dragons at our side, they could see that they were very wrong.

With a chip on my shoulder, I began walking towards them.

“Remember, You're their king now,” I heard Lyra's voice and it still startled me a little. It wasn't through any link like I was used to, it was all over my head, demanding to be listened to.

“King? What do you mean, we don't do that,”

“And look how that turned out. There needs to be a change and if you don't take charge of that vacuum, my dragon kin will and trust me, the world is not ready for that. They've been in isolation for nearly a century and won't give a damn what the supernatural world needs so you must demand submission from them. Scarlett will be right behind you,”

“This is gonna be a lot of work,” I muttered and increased my steps towards them.

The army was heavy and I knew they could take us if we didn't have the backing of these dragons.

The dragon that we had a love hate relationship left her obsession with making sure the demon didn't get up again and stumped after me with loud footsteps.

“Damien, you finally came,” I greeted, my annoyance with their impeccable timing slipping out.

He left the front of his massive vampire army and walked towards me, his steps slower than usual. He was dressed in a wine colored tunic that was definitely not war apparel.

“Yea, looks like I didn't need to,” he replied, looking towards the aftermath of the war behind us

“Well, thankfully my mate brought out these dragons from their hiding place right on time or else we all would have been demon meat,”

“Come on, that's impossible. Even if you don't totally kill them all, we would have been able to finish the rest,”

“Well, that's what you think but everyone of us had a traitor in our ranks and there are portals to Tartarus. Without the death of that demon, she would have released them. But hey, all that's over now and you don't need to stress yourself about that. You just need to avail yourself for the coronation ceremony a fortnight from now,”

“Coronation? What on earth for?” he asked, his eyes perplexed.

“Isn't it obvious? There's a vacuum of power and one of us needs to fill it up or the dragons will and by our historic records, that's not much of a great choice,”

“So why does it get to be you?!” He exclaimed, his white colored face getting fainter.

Scarlett huffed at my back and Damien took a step back.

“Because if it wasn't already obvious Damien, this war would have ended very differently if I didn't sacrifice everything that is dear to me while you sat inside the walls i helped you defend. It can't be you because you're quite selfish and in case you're wondering, you don't have a choice,” he made to argue but I raised my hand, shutting him up. “We're not humans and the concept of democracy is not gonna work on us with the amount of power that we each have. But hey, I'll have a council under me so make sure you send in your wisest, there will be strict rules and responsibilities on them unlike the previously failed one,” I finished and he was struggling to get his thoughts together.

I knew I'd be stupefied too if my plans were fumbled right in front of me and I got a superior in the process.

“So, um, how's this gonna work? We're all going to be one pack paying homage to you? My vampires are not going to be okay with that. We are barely managing to house these wolves that stay with us because of the war,”

“Everything will run as it always has, we'll just have new rules now. You will have to stop killing humans. Take what you need and leave them afterwards. Your clams can remain the way it was before the war but if any threat ever rises against the throne, you will give me two third of your army,”

“What about the finances, sir?” Someone walked asked from his back.

He moved aside for him to come forth.

“Meet Reuben, my second in command,” Damien introduced the vampire and we shook hands.

“Look, we just finished a hell of a battle and I'm so lucky to be in one piece but my mate is not and neither is my twin brother so I need to get back there. Everything will be laid out in finer details in two weeks when you come for the coronation. As a gesture of goodwill, you can send some workers out way as we'll be rebuilding the council building into something more… fitting,”

“I see. Well, see you next time Alpha King, he said with a slight bow “and for what it's worth, I apologize for not coming earlier. There's no justification for that,”

I was beyond happy that this didn't degenerate into another war. Dragons or not, my people didn't have the morale for any other form of altercation.

We shook hands and I watched them disappear in less than three seconds, leaving the werewolves that stayed with them behind. I knew in a week from now, packs will reform all over the supernatural world and I'll be charged with the responsibility of regulating it.

“Vampires and their insane speed, huh?” I said to Scarlett who looked pretty bored.

“They'll be a pain in your ass in the future so be prepared,” she replied, her voice in my head quite jarring.

I couldn't believe Aurora was dealing with this all the damn time. I'd go crazy if I dealt with it all the time. Or maybe she was used to it and actually felt this way about the entire pack linking with her, which was why she always complained about it.

Walking back towards the shed where I left them, my heart beat frantically as our link began flickering.

“Oh no,” I gasped, hoping it wasn't what I was thinking but I'd experienced this the last time our bond got cut and I wasn't ready for that meaningless existence again so I began to run towards them.
