“ARES' POV”

We got to the pack and I carried her to the bedroom and put her down on the bed gently to avoid waking her up.

As I let go of my mate's delectable body, I helped her adjust her clothes before stepping out of the house.

We were going to look over the facts of the intrusion and try to figure a way out. If it was an insider, it'll be a big problem. We didn't need traitors here as well. If Aurora's powers got out, we needed to be sure that the pack would protect her as well. I'll tell Kane about holding her Luna’s Ceremony as soon as possible so the pack can feel a connection with her.

Tonight, I was closer to paradise than I have ever been. When she moaned, I felt like I was under a siren's control. She looked beautiful and I wanted to eat her up. We had planned to ravage her tonight but the news kind of dampened the mood

I didn't mind her first time being with just Kane. In fact, I was positive it was the best option. The three of us would be too much for her.

I suddenly realized I didn't even know when I changed my mind about being with her, giving up on my fight with myself.

After her kidnapping, all I wanted was to take advantage of every minute I had with her. Her absence for such a short time made me realize I couldn't bear to live without her. I'm so happy it wasn't a permanent situation. If I had ended up rejecting her, I would be filled with intense regrets.

Her powers were on full display now and one could only wonder how powerful she could be. I didn't really care about that but knowing she could take care of herself put to rest all my fear from earlier. I could finally focus on fixing the rift between us and the DarkMoon Pack as well as keeping our pack safe in these times.

When I got to the office, Axel and Kane were going over different camera feeds, trying to figure out where the problem came from.

“Your security system is weak, even outdated by a few years” Axel commented.

Axel had a wider experience with surveillance and technology so this was his field.

I pulled up a chair and sat down with them, seeing what he meant. Our pack had a large array of cameras all through the pack territory. It all connected to screens in the different security houses we built in different parts of the pack as well as our offices. While I had just one system in mine, Axel had many and his office was the main control. He left leadership to me and focused on keeping us safe.

He worked closely with our Delta and I worked with Christopher and his now rejected mate.

The whole scenario made me feel sad, especially for Aurora. When we heard the news, I saw the fear flash through Aurora's eyes and I knew this was going to be a rough night for her. She had lived under the man's tyranny and maltreatment all her life so knowing he was out there in the wild plotting against her must have made her terrified.

I had brought her closer to me and pecked her forehead.

“You don't have to worry yourself, baby. We'll catch him soon” I reassured her and she nodded.

It turned out that this was an inside job. No one infiltrated the pack.

This set us right back in the same situation with my pack. We had been thinking of the best way to fish out traitors in the pack without putting the entire pack under the pain of an Alpha command.

For normal situations, it wouldn't hurt much. The pain was more mental than physical. But for this, it required the highest level of it as it overrides the person's entire mind, body, and wolf, forcing them to do what they didn't want to do.

That scale of power would put I and Axel out of commission for days, giving the traitors an easy chance to do whatever they had planned so this was a last resort.

“So, first of all, we need to beef up your security without letting anyone know. That way, any suspicious activity can be investigated without the culprit knowing. We can catch them by surprise.” Axel was telling Kane.

“So the only way this can work is if no one knows the security system has improved. How do you intend to achieve that?” I asked.

“I have my ninjas. They will do a stealthy job tomorrow night” he replied. He loves his job a little too much.

“Have you seen anything from your end? I doubt all the traitors suddenly fell in love with you now that their leader is dead” Kane asked us

“He has actually noticed a couple but we need to watch them more. Once one or two are caught, they will reveal their partners. I'll ensure that” I told him.

“Okay. I appreciate the help. I don't even know what they stand to gain from this. No one knew who they were and except they were actually rich and just wanted to make Aurora suffer by pretending otherwise, they definitely couldn't afford to make anyone in my pack switch sides because of money.”

“No one in your pack would betray you because of money, Kane. You have literally eliminated poverty in your entire pack.” Axel replied him

“So what could be the motivation? Juno had an actual grievance because of Aisha's death” Axel asked. I noticed mentioning her name didn't make him wince in pain as usual.

Jayden, Kane’s Beta came into the office and his countenance was not looking too good.

“You need to turn on the TV. Something is happening” he told us.

Kane quickly picked up the remote and a newscaster was standing at the front of an obvious crime scene.

“... earlier today, what was believed to be a bear attack took place in Manhattan. It was a gruesome incident which led to the victim losing many body parts and probably bleeding to death. The Police department is keeping the details of this on a low until they have completed investigations” the newscaster reported.

“That was no bear. In fact, before I ran up here to tell you about it, I saw three werewolves in their human form, leaving the crime scene in a hurry. Here, see if you recognize any of them” Jayden showed us.

“That's Juno,” Axel said in shock.

“I wonder what she could be doing so far out here and killing humans as well.” I replied.

“We should have finished her off when we had the chance. Aurora would have helped your Beta heal rather than this menace we have on our hand now.” Kane grumbled.

“I'll have some of my men from the security company I run track her. Now that we have a location, it should be pretty easy” Axel said.

“Thanks Jayden. I'm going to sleep. I'll need a calm mind to go over all of this tomorrow. Magical attacks, betrayals and human killings cannot be processed in its current state” Kane said, and we followed suit. He did have a point.

We trailed after him, the three of us a shocking sight. I'm sure our fathers would be rolling in their graves but deep down I'm happy we were able to overcome our past.
