The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 37: CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN
He sat up as I got to the couch.
“Can I sleep next to you?” I asked him. It was a risk, considering he was trying to maintain distance from me but one night wouldn't kill him.
Very soon, I'll go back to Kane's pack and all of the drama will end. He won't have to see me again.
“Oh, sure. You don't need to ask” he said, recovering from the shock.
I lay in his arms and before you know it, I was asleep.

I used to love dreaming. It was just like reading a good fictional story where I get to escape my gloomy life and be a part of another world in different centuries, continents and experience the way an author thinks as well as the characters.
My dreams always had a nice outlook. It was always the same thing, year in and out.
A beautiful, green garden with all the food I craved during the day and a swing that I loved to sit and sing in.
But that went out the window the moment I discovered this world.
It was sometimes too cryptic and right now, I was looking at the dragon that chased me last time I closed my eyes, only this time, it's eyes were different.
Just like the one that rescued me from Bez.
I didn't care though, the moment I saw it, I ran in the opposite direction.
“Wait, why are you running away?” she asked me in my mind.
I paused, nearly falling from well, my clumsiness and the shock of her voice. It was different, calmer. The last one didn't talk in my mind, instead it screamed at me with fire in her whole demeanor, besides, wasn't it obvious I was trying to run away from her?
But just to be sure, i asked her
“You don't want to kill me?” my eyebrows lifting in confusion.
“Why would I want that? You are mine and I'm yours. One mind in different species. I'll be killing half of me”
Oh, makes sense.
“Wait, you are not the same dragon. You look exactly the same but you are not the same”
“You have to be specific, Aurora. And fast too. We don't have all night. I use these dreams to keep track of you until we can be together but I'm not allowed to see you during the day.” She said as she walked closer to me.
I realized the fear had evaporated from me and I felt more comfortable with her, like she was a long lost sister.
“Well, earlier today, I took a nap and I saw, well, she looked like you but now that I think about it, it's not really you. Her eyes were different and she wanted to know where I was. Really badly too. I ran from her and she poured fire from her throat at me. I woke up and I was poisoned” I explained to her.
Her eyes widened.
“I didn't know it was going to get this bad. When dragons are hatched, the idea of twins seems impossible because of our size but my twin sister and I shocked everyone and we've gone through several things that have made us grow apart from each other.” she replied sadly
“So why is she looking for me?” I enquired, fear spiking through me. If a dragon had a thing against me, I'm as good as dead.
“I don't want to believe it has gotten to that point but if she is able to get access to you, she might be able to control me. So you need to avoid naps from now on. And you need to leave that pack immediately. Someone close to you all is trying to undo everything they have suffered to build and I don't want you in the midst of it”
“You want me to abandon them? I have powers now, I can help and if you actually come here faster, no one will be able to do anything” I cried out, frustration enveloping me.
She sighed and shook her head
“It's not so easy, my little Firecracker. We are a hunted species. It's reckless to simply fly to you. But don't worry, there are people in charge of getting dragon pairs together. They know where you are and are simply waiting for the right moment to bring us together”
“Wait, so I wasn't hallucinating. Someone is following me! I've been having this weird feeling of being watched and I always explained it away” I told her.
“We always take care of our own, Aurora. Always remember that. You are never alone. In a little while, dragons will be able to fly the skies again. For now, get some rest. You have a long journey ahead of you tomorrow” she finalized, her voice getting distant even though she was right in front of me.
Then I woke up, and everything was on fire.
