The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 90: CHAPTER NINETY

As the two cars that contained all of us drove back to my pack, the jeep carrying my mate’s foster father who was dozed high on opium and chained was ahead of us while we drove behind.

But as we proceeded, I was consistently having a pool of dread in my stomach and I couldn't figure out why.

I hated driving at night but I didn't want to stop halfway to rest. In fact, I couldn't because of how much I worried about Aurora. The stunt Dante pulled was still at the back of my mind and immediately I got home, he's going to hear from me.

I loved the sound of that; home. I've never called it that. It's been my pack or the house but with Aurora and my new brothers plus Cora, my heart was full and I was grateful to the goddess for these gifts. I just hoped I wasn't about to ruin it.

My wolf was eerily alert, his constant pacing driving me crazy to the point that I had to pack the car by the side of the road and alerted the other car to slow down as well.

We were close to the MoonStone Pack so I wasn't scared of any rogue ambush. We had an alliance that spanned for decades and my father always took me there every year. The current Alpha was a good friend as well.

I turned off the ignition and turned to the guy sitting next to me.

“Can you drive? I'm feeling a bit antsy,” I told Edwin, the vampire that was sent with me. He was the best option as they didn't sleep at night. Maybe if

I still hadn't figured out how to deal with the situation without them finding out about the dragons. I didn't want to be the reason we're pushed into war too early.

I was hoping to speak to Aurora immediately we’re close to my pack so she could take the dragons and probably fly to our hunting grounds. The amphitheater was big enough that the dragons could fly low and not be seen.

“Sure Alpha Kane. Although, I don't know if I'm the best option. I've been feeling a little wired up since we got out of Central City.” He responded, coming around to take the keys from me.

“You feel it too? Then we need to get going.” I said, hopping back into the car and signaling for the other car to move on.

“Don't you feel it's better we spend the night in the next pack? You might feel better with a good night's rest. I'll keep watch,” he proposed and even though I wasn't comfortable with the idea, I agreed.

As we drove into the MoonStone Pack territory, my wolf rose to the surface.

There was an unusual quietness in the pack, the only sound we heard were birds and wild animals. Moonstone was a trading Pack as it was along the path of the Central City so no matter the time, it was usually bustling and it wasn't even 9PM yet.

We drove past the security checkpoints and no one stopped us.

The other car has to wait for us to catch up, probably feeling spooky as well.

We got to the center of the pack and the sight before us made a lone tear drop from my eyes.

Whoever was responsible for this was heartless and cruel.

Babies!

I couldn't imagine the torture their alpha must have felt as his entire pack was slaughtered by whoever did this.

We went round the pack, seeing more massacres and killing.

It was an absolute annihilation and they didn't stand a chance of survival.

“This doesn't look like a normal attack. See, there's ash all over the ground but no sign of a fire,” Brian, my Delta informed us and we all simultaneously bent down to pick it up.

I smelled it and this was no ordinary ash. There was a part of my brain tickling with a forgotten memory I wished I could just pull forward.

“Yes and the crazy part is that some part of all these just feels familiar, but I can't place my foot on what exactly it is. They didn't even reach out to anyone for help,” I observed, shivering at the thought of all these werewolves dying without anyone coming to their aid.

“I don't think they even had the time to do that. Like, they were killed all too quickly. I can feel their pain, Alpha Kane. It was a very brief war, which makes no sense. This was a werewolf against werewolf battle, it should have been an even match even if one side was overpowered and you can see how cruel they were to crush everything,” the warlock, Jimmy Watson added and as we all stood in the midst of the terrible incident, the fear that something was terribly crawled into our minds.

“We'll bury them, then one of us will head back to report to the Council. They'll need to get on this immediately, maybe call an all leadership conference among all species because I have a fear this doesn't won't end with the werewolves,” Edwin advised but I shook my head.

I thought this terrible sight meant that I had seen the reason why my wolf was acting up but no, something else was wrong and even though I refused to believe it, it was obvious the path these villains were headed on.

My pack.

“No, I think we need to be on our way. Whoever is with my phone, hand it over now,” I demanded, leaving no space for arguments.

I won't be able to calm down until I hear my mate's voice.

Edwin gave it to me and immediately I hit the speed dial, my heart racing with fear as I I waited for her to pick up.

But it just kept ringing over and over again, taking my calmness away with it.

I called three more times before trying Jayden and then Axel.

Same response; none.

“Fuck, we need to leave immediately,” I growled, running behind the wheels and Edwin threw the keys back to me and I started the car quickly.

“Which of us is heading back?” Jimmy asked, standing awkwardly.

“You guys can give them a call, Man. There's no need for anyone to do that. I need all the help I can get if this is what I think it is. Get in the car everyone!” I ordered and they quickly rushed in and I began driving like a mad man, my mind filled with trepidation and terror.

I knew she wasn't harmed yet because I would have felt it and probably kill everyone in this car by losing control of it and at the speed I was going, that'd be fatal.

But I couldn't give the steering wheel to anyone, needing some form of control or I'd go crazy.

As I drove, they kept dissecting the situation but I couldn't say a word, praying to the moon goddess that I was fast enough, that I didn't get there too late. I told Brian to keep calling everyone, hoping this was all a misconception and the pack was simply running in the wild or some other activity but the pit in my stomach suggested otherwise.

And then, to confirm everything I had been suspecting, I felt it.

A sharp pain in my leg that made me skid off the road and nearly hit a tree, making everyone scream.

It was obvious Aurora had just been bitten by a rogue and I was miles away to do anything.
