The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 195: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND NINETY-FIVE

“I need to step outside for a minute,” I quickly got up and without waiting for a response, I fled the banquet hall like a Cinderella wannabe.

Darius met me at the door, a concerned look on his face. I saw another door by the left that looked to lead outside and followed it.

“Did something go wrong?”

“No, I'm fine. The tension in there was just too much for me,” I replied and kept walking out till I got to a gazebo.

“Alright, I'll be right here if you need me,” he said and disappeared into thin air again.

‘That's gonna take getting used to’ I thought as I sat down on the steps of the small building in the middle of it.

“Wow, you didn't even last fifteen minutes,” someone chuckled beside me, making me startled.

I turned around but I couldn't see anyone.

“Who's there?” I asked, getting up quickly.

“Oh, pardon me. I forgot you weren't a part of us before now,” the voice replied and appeared next to me.

He was so close that I had to take a step back to properly look at him

He was a beardless, young looking guy who could pass for a seventeen-year old if I wasn't in the realm of the gods. And his eyes were as wide as saucers but something told me they were made that way for a reason. He looked too innocent for this world, so it definitely looked like a deception tactic.

And I say beardless because the lot of them have curated quite a collection of beards back in the hall I'd just escaped from so his physique was shocking a bit.

I looked him over again and then back to his face before remembering his words to me.

“Why do you all keep reminding me of that? I never imagined that this would happen, I was simply defending myself from that asshole and this happened,” I snapped, remembering Aphrodite’s words earlier.

“I sincerely apologize, I wasn't trying to upset you. Most humans would be eternally grateful for this opportunity.”

“Yea, and that is if the position came without threats. I've not been here five minutes and the King of the gods is already setting me up to be murdered,” I grumbled and went back to where I sat down earlier.

“Zeus is always leaving his dirty job for everyone else to do but him. Until there's a direct attack, this is his usual gimmick.”

I didn't know what to say after that, careful not to overstep my boundaries considering I was still in his domain.

The god sat down next to me and produced a pack of cigarettes out of the blue.

“You smoke?” I asked in shock.

“It doesn't do anything for me but after a mission on earth for Zeus, I picked up the habit from a human. You should try it, it settles your nerves,” he replied.

“What is your name?”

“Forgive me, I just poofed into your zen and didn't even introduce myself. I'm Hermes, the messenger god,” he replied with a suave wave of his hands and dipping his head in a small bow.

I liked him already but I was still tense

So I took a stick and joined him.

“Was my party that boring?” I heard Zeus's voice before I saw him walking into the gazebo.

Like a guilty child, I trashed the stick of cigarette and stood up.

“It wasn't, your highness, I just needed a break.”

“Well it is time for you to answer the burning question on all of our lips so come on in,” he said and took my hand in his.

As we walked, all I could think about was how I was going to explain to these people that I wasn't interested in killing anyone. I mean, if someone came at me, I'd fight them with everything in me, I would never back down from a challenge but I'm not about to start a war or kill a god that didn't threaten my life. It made no sense.

I understood how all these power inside of me terrified them, considering it had never happened before but I needed them to understand that I was a living being with feelings, not some erratic teenager with a gun.

We walked in and I took a look across the entire room.

It had been transformed into a dancing mode, the chairs were moved to the edges of the room and some were packed up.

There was a bigger orchestra by the right and people were holding each other's hands and partnered up.

It seemed like my entrance had forced them to pause again.

Were they that tense about my presence? I hoped to never find out the consequences of that.

Zeus led me to the large podium at the end of the room and clapped his hands, calling everyone's attention to him. It was obvious he enjoyed his position and loved telling people what to do.

“Ladies and gentlegods,” he called; “Let us give our attention to the dame of the night as she decides who she'll share this night and hopefully future nights with.”

I frowned and looked at him in confusion.

He then turned to me with a smirk.

“You’re free to choose any man from the left side, the ones on the right are in a committed relationship,” he continued, rolling his eyes at the last phrase.

“And I am as well. When did I tell you I was looking for a companion for the night?” I rebutted, watching his crestfallen look in response.

“You're in a relationship already?” Hera asked with fake enthusiasm. I didn't even know she was there. “That's amazing! Show us the lucky God or goddess, we don't discriminate like you humans,” she winked as she took my hands, heading deeper into the room.

“Wait!” I snapped, making the entire room gasp. I took my hand away from her, tired of this weak girl demeanor. “I know I'm new here and I have no idea what it entails to be a goddess but I do know that this feeling I have inside me, that everyone of you here has, means I'm not allowed to be a pushover. So this thing where I'm commanded, shoved and made to do whatever you all want just because I'm new? I'm not taking it anymore. I have two mates and they're werewolves in the human realm. I'll wait for them until they get here so I won't be sleeping with anyone here, thank you,” I vented and turned to face Zeus. “Thank you so much for your hospitality and I will come anytime you call but I'll be leaving first thing tomorrow morning. Goodnight.”

And then I walked out of the room, refusing to look at any of them.

If they refuse to give me the chance to be one of them in every sense of it, I'll create my own happiness in my kingdom.

But the last thing I'll do, is get bullied by people I can actually hurt if shit hits the fan.

Their fear of me is a weapon I intend to wield fiercely
