The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 92: CHAPTER NINETY-TWO
“AURORA'S POV”
I was exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally.
I wasn't expecting Kane till tomorrow but I'm so happy he's back because I don't know what I would have done.
As we ran away from the rogues, I was riding atop Axel in his wolf form, just like the rest of the packs. We didn't want to go too fast because the safe house in the direction we were headed was being evacuated.
It was a dicey game we were playing and any mistake would lead to more losses.
We had already lost enough and I was responsible for some of them. At different points during this horrible night, the memory of their death and the snaps of their soul from the link would hit me, making me lose focus for a little bit and a rogue would get too close
Jayden and Axel had to come close to me, protecting me from the snarls of their teeth.
Everybody else had felt a big amount of hopelessness as the only source of death for the rogues was just me. One against an army.
But now, as we ran towards the amphitheater where Lyra and Scarlett were preparing to roast these rogues, I could feel the hope in their hearts, their feet pounding as we ran to victory.
“Luna, we're safe!” Greg, a little boy I had met a few days back, reported to me as I had instructed.
“Thanks, Greg. Now tell everyone to stay very quiet, okay?” I told him before urging everyone to run faster
It was now or never.
“DarkMoon, let's go!” Kane shouted in the link and the overwhelming sound of survivors echoed in my mind as we ran with renewed hope to the location.
“Axel, you need to go faster so I can get that hatch open. If we're too slow, we won't be able to get through; the path is narrow,” I urged my mate, who had saved my life countless times tonight, and he listened, pushing his wolf to his limit.
I quickly got down and tapped the ground three times with my feet and watched the ground open, albeit slowly but I didn't have much of a choice.
Soon enough, they began trooping into the opened hatch, running towards the other side.
“Run very fast, guys; on the other side, Jayden will be waiting to help you out,” I instructed.
Lyra had airlifted him earlier so he could get the other door unlocked for us to pass
“Luna, why aren't you going in?” Tatiana who I discovered was a seasoned warrior asked as pack members ran through, the sound of their feet hurting my sensitive hearing.
“I need to be sure everyone is safe now go, you need to get to the other side quickly, okay?” I instructed her and she nodded, joining the fray.
It was difficult to control them due to the narrow space, but I had Axel with me, and they obeyed him.
Throughout the process, my heart was close to my mouth in fear that this would slow us down and the rogues would catch up with us and as I heard a scream, I knew I was right.
“Lyra, please come,” I called for my dragon.
I wish I had taken the riding lessons more seriously instead of waiting for whoever Flynn was going to send, but I didn't have much of a choice now, and there was no harness at hand.
But the horrible screams I'd heard were enough to spur me to action.
As Lyra flew down, a large distance away from us, wolves shrieked in fear, speeding up the line.
“You can go in babe. I'll ward them off from the air,” I said to Axel, hugging his wolf form.
“Be careful up there, okay? I'll make sure they're all in before,” he replied and I nodded.
I ran with the little strength left in me and climbed atop her.
“I don't know where this crazy confidence is coming from, Lyra but seriously, how am I supposed to hold you and still fire at them? We can't risk your fire, the entire pack would get caught,” I complained, already drained from this crazy night.
When I walked into this world, I never expected it to be a walk in the park but nobody prepared my mind for this.
“You don't need to worry, just hold tightly to my spikes. You won't fall,” she told me
“It won't hurt?”
“I don't have a mate yet, so it's safe” she instructed, her huffs bringing out smoke as I situated myself quickly.
I checked in on Elena through Scarlett, and she assured me I wouldn't faint from exhaustion as she kept feeding my powers to me through the pearl bracelets I gave to her.
We flew out and when we got there, the dilemma presented before me was crazy.
“I'm so scared of killing one of our own, Lyra. They're so close,” I told her, tears springing to my eyes. The other time, it was a mistake, but this was from a lack of practice and mastering my powers.
“Stop blaming yourself, Aurora. None of this is your fault and I'm very proud of you for this, I never expected you to have improved so much in such a short time so we can either not do anything and they all get killed or we try our best and save those we can, you choose,” Lyra said to me and I wiped my eyes, trying to see clearly.
I began firing shots of my fiery power down amid the chaos.
“Watch out!” I screamed into the warrior's mind, too close to the rogue I had aimed at, fear licking at my nerves.
This made them look up and gratefully, they began separating themselves from the rogues. This made it easier to target them.
Gradually, the crowd reduced, most of our pack wolves on the other side and the rogues chasing them.
To my happiness, Ares and Kane were chasing them with a lot of fire-lit torches, a vampire among them doing the most damage. I could tell he was one by the speed at which he dove into the midst of the rogues and put a fire in them and as they tried scattering, the wolves would close in on them, killing as much as possible.
From this vantage point, I could see there were thousands of these rogues here, and if Kane and Ares hadn't come, the dragons would have had to burn down the pack, or we wouldn't survive tonight.
“Luna, how do I close the latch?” A voice screamed in my head with fear, and Lyra quickly flew to the other side ,and I realized Scarlett had started unleashing her fire on the rogues, making them scamper for their lives through the only path available;:the escape route.
“Lyra, I need to get down, you go in and help Scarlett. We don't want to lose any more warriors,” and she began heading down.
My thighs were charred at this point. I knew I would throw up at the slightest chance but I tried holding on, ignoring the pain as there were more important things. My body has gotten tired of healing my wounds sometime during the night and it was only Scarlett that kept me awake right now.
“Step away, guys, allow them to come to me,” I instructed, and they cleared a path for the rogues to keep running.
I gave them a few seconds before I began killing them, this time, it was easier as there weren't that many. Lyra and Scarlett were taking care of them.
The moment the sound of the dragons pouring strings of lava from their throats stopped, everyone began howling and cheering.
We had won.
Then I collapsed.
