The ride was lengthy and I slept halfway through, although it was quite uncomfortable as I was on Lyra's back.

“Do you want to take a break?” I asked her as I noticed her speed had reduced.

“Yes but I spoke to him about it and he said this area is dangerous,” she replied. “Same thing he said about the other three stops I'd asked him to rest at,”

“Really? Why didn't you say anything? He's the god of death and can't protect us?”

“I don't think he was sent as security but more as an escort,”

“You know what?” I said and searched the layout of the lands down below. “Over there! There's a clearing you can land on and water beside it. Let's stop there. Tell him and if he refuses to stop with us, I'd simply tell Zeus his messenger refused to take us to him.”

She followed my direction and in a few minutes, we were on the ground, next to the huge rock with an opening.

Hopefully, there wasn't anything hiding inside it that was too strong for us. I wasn't in the best position to fight.

Hades wasn't pleased with this news. I knew he was wondering why a dragon in her prime needed to rest so much but I wasn't about to tell him we were pregnant. Everyone will find out when the baby is born, no sooner than that.

Hopefully, Zelda and Elena's concealing spell works very well in this realm.

“What is your problem woman? I told you I have things to do!” He snapped the moment his chariot touched the ground.

“And I told you that if my dragon needs to rest, he will have to rest, okay?”

He grumbled something under his breath in a language I didn't understand and stalked off to the water.

After drinking, he walked back to me.

“Can we leave now?”

“Seriously?”

“Of course! She has rested already, we need to leave immediately,” he insisted and I watched his body language as he spoke.

Was the god of death scared about something?

It seemed weird and confusing but I didn't know what it was and couldn't put my finger on it.

“Do you feel anything in the air? Like your instincts alerting you to danger or something,” I asked Lyra who was eating a deer that had walked out of the nearby bush.

“No.” She replied and I was about to turn back to the nagging god beside me when she coughed. “There's nothing in the air. Like, absolutely nothing.”

“Ookay?” I drawled, confused at the way she kept emphasizing on the nothing. “What is wrong with that?”

“Everything. I can't hear animals or even birds. We need to leave,” she said in a panicked tone.

“You could have let her rest earlier so we don't have to walk into danger here,” I hissed at Hades as we got ready to leave again.

I rearranged the harness as it had been biting into my laps and climbed up.

But as we were getting ready to lift off, a roaring voice rushed towards our direction.

“Fuck! Fly faster!” Hades screamed at us and I got up from Lyra so she could move.

Three giants ran out of the mouth of the mountain, and began attacking us.

“You're not that heavy. I just think there's something in the water,”

“But Hades drank it too!”

“He's an immortal god. This place is made for him.”

“Shit!” I exclaimed as I watched the three giants on the ground lift stones from the ground and aimed them at us.

I was weak but I was able to splinter the stones on impact, frustrating them.

We nearly got too far away from them when one of them ran on top of the cave and jumped towards us, his hands outstretched to catch me.

Fear overtook me and I poured an uncomfortable amount of fire in his direction.

Two unexpected things happened.

It seemed I'd exhausted all my energy on that and the giant gradually burned to ashes.

I lay down on Lyra, tired and in pain. I subconsciously put my hand on my stomach, praying to whoever was listening that nothing happened to my child.

“There you go Princess. Enemy number one,” Hades said with a satisfied smile on my face. “Well, two considering you just killed one of the immortal giant triplets of The ancient ruins of Artemis. You should have killed them all,”

Was he happy about this?

I refused to pay him any attention and focused on regaining my strength.

I lay on Lyra and sleep took me under.

“Are we still flying?” I groaned as I opened my eyes.

This journey was impossibly long. Arkonos to earth wasn't this far and it was literally between realms.

“We're nearly there,” Hades replied.

“That's what you said ten hours ago. What am I even saying, do you have any understanding of the concept of time? A hundred years might be fifteen minutes in your eyes,” I replied, rolling my eyes in annoyance.

I couldn't believe he allowed us to literally walk into danger.

The experience scarred Lyra and we'd been flying since forever.

Even when he suggested we rest somewhere, we refused to do that.

We didn't trust him one bit.

As I watched the lands pass by as we flew, I regretted insisting on Lyra coming with me.

She was pregnant, still adjusting to this new place and she was recently poisoned

I resolved to let her rest for as long as possible the moment we got back home.

“We're here,” Hades announced and I looked up to see what he was talking about.

It was like a star in the midst of darkness, a brightly lit city with golden edifices all over.

As we drew closer, my attention was drawn to what could only be Zeus’s palace.

It was the tallest building in the city and it had

a thunderbolt on top of it and his status, impossibly large, right in front of it.

And that was where we landed.
