The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 27: CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

“KANE’S POV”

The timeframe between when we all marked her and when she took in a huge breath of air was down right painful.

While we watched her unreactive body, our minds began connecting, I saw through Axel’s playful and selfish nature and saw a man that would kill for his brother's happiness, I saw Ares' broodiness as a cover-up for the sadness in his heart over his father's demise and then when I looked at Aurora, all I felt was fire. I touched her hand at the same time as the twins and I realized we must all be going through the same thing.

I had never heard of a mating process as different as ours. I could already feel the protectiveness and the need to never let any man look at, cover me. I wanted her to be mine and mine alone but there was a subtle desire I refused to give heed to.

We were all tense, watching as our marks on her created beautiful and artistic forms of our wolf forms. My black wolf with the white paws drawn on the back of her neck where I'd bitten her, Axel's huge brown wolf was howling on her left, close to her collarbone and Ares' mark was right at the top of the Dragon mark; a gray wolf with striking blue eyes.

After sometime, we felt the marking was not the solution and I began suspecting this whole thing as a ruse. Maybe they wanted to take over my pack and this would give them access to my mind whenever I had my guards down. Instinctively, I built more walls on my mind, scared they might have already seen too much.

After all, it was their doctor that suggested this and it had made sense at the time but now, I fear they may have injected her with something as this was highly unusual.

“Kane, you need to calm down. I have a feeling there's something we are doing wrong so until we figure it out, take a breath. There's nothing sinister going on here” Ares said, startling me

“I'm sorry, I just don't know why she's not awake yet. Our marks are supposed to have taken effect by now, it's been like thirty minutes” I answered, frustration covering my skin.

I hated not knowing what to do and the more the mate bond solidified, the worse I felt about not succeeding in waking her up

Axel began kissing her arms and dropping little bites and I noticed he had a lone tear drop and then a crazy thought passed through my mind; what if they were unwilling to let her go after this? The bond was a powerful thing. It has brought down the strongest of Alpha wolves to their knees, making them act like little puppies. I didn't mind being whatever she wanted me to be, after interrogating her father, I developed a huge fondness and respect for her which has been amplified a million times by the mark and I knew I never wanted to let her go. I would do anything to make her stay with me which begs the question, what if they felt the same way?

Before I could continue in this perilous train of thought, I noticed her dragon tattoo light up.

“Guys, look!” I pointed at it, adjusting her neck so it could be clearer and everyone focused on it immediately

“Wait, what if she has another mate, do they need to be here or something? I don't think I can stomach another man in here” Axel said, his voice sounding broken.

“Maybe, I'm just guessing here but I think she might have an affiliation with dragons and if that's true, they wouldn't need to be here to do anything. Dragons are too powerful and advanced to be burdened with what is happening to us. If they know that they need to mark her, they will do so immediately.” I said

“So I guess the dragon sensed this whole thing would happen and decided to place the mark a day before the battle.” Ares added.

I nodded.

“All of these speculations drive me nuts. Isn't there someone who knows these things or something? I still don't know if she's human” says Axel.

I scratch my head in thought

“Well, there is someone but I don't think you'll quite like him” Ares answered.

“This is our mate we are talking about here, Ares. You may not want her but I do and I don't see how I'm gonna put any silly emotion above her. Who is this person?” Axel asks, his tone rigid.

“Fang” Ares answered and I saw blood drain from Axel's face. I guess the person must have hurt them so much because of his reaction but then I noticed they switched to mindlink to communicate

I had no right to demand any explanation, all I knew was that I needed this man's contact and nothing was going to stop me.

I watched the furious exchange between the both of them from where I sat down. I kept rubbing my mate's hand, hoping she would simply just open her eyes. Her skin was still very warm and the dragon mark was glowing.

I remember her adoptive father saying she was a child of hell because she never felt pain from fire. It cemented the dragon theory I had in my mind.

I would go back to their house when I got back to make more enquiries personally. I might even taunt his wife with the idea of having him back. That would never happen though, he will die painfully.

As I watched the back and forth between the twins in a weird facial exchange that showed they weren't getting anywhere with their argument, I noticed a change in Aurora

“Guys” I called but I didn't get any response

Then her fingers twitched.

“GUYS!” I shouted, drawing their attention to me

“What is the problem?” Axel asked in an irritated tone but I didn't care for it.

My mate was rousing from her deep sleep like in the Sleeping Beauty Movie

“She's waking up” I announced with glee. I can't wait to take her from here, I thought as her eyes blinked open.

“AURORA’S POV”

I woke up and for a second, I was very confused. Then I felt sparks.

“Aaah” I shrieked, jumping off the bed very quickly but my body wasn't ready for that so soon after being in coma for god knows how long.

I started falling but hands caught me, making the sparks fly again, my body buzzing with the insane need to … do something. I looked around at my mates and all I could feel was confusion.

I was very pissed at them. They had allowed a spirit to torture me while they stayed here and didn't do anything until the dragon came for me and on the other hand, I was going crazy with the idea of entering into Axel's shirt, or making Ares kiss me or worse, rubbing myself all over Kane. I quickly withdrew from them, moving slowly this time and the look on their face was ridiculous.

They were not puppies, these were wolves but you'd think I'd hurt three cute puppies by simply moving away.

I realized something changed between all of us and I couldn't put my hand on it.

I cleared my throat and tried speaking but I couldn't. I was extremely parched.

“Are you alright? Do you need anything? Doc!” Axel called, trying to come closer to me again as I was standing by the end of the hospital bed and they were at the other side.

I shook my head blatantly. I needed to feel the only emotion I understood. Anger.

The door opened and a lot of people came in. The mom of the twins, Juno, her husband, the doctor and a nurse that was giving me the stink eye. Now that I thought about it, I didn't really bond with the entire Pack so I definitely still had a lot of people that hated me.

The doctor began examining me and the nurse gave me water and a pack of ice. I placed it on my neck and everyone looked confused.

“I don't know why it's hot but I almost feel it burning” I replied, my own voice sounding weird to me

I had bigger problems though, whatever I went through in Bez’s kingdom or whatever that place is called has probably driven me crazy. Why else would I be feeling electrical sparks when people touched me?

I take that back. Mrs. Artemis just hugged me and I didn't feel any sparks.

“We were so scared! You all just fainted at once and I didn't understand it. No one could. Why did you allow yourself to get burned out?” she asked, a sob threatening to escape her.

I sighed, I didn't know how to explain that I felt like I needed to prove myself to them so they'll stop thinking I'm against them and someone already said I was gonna die so why not give everything I can before dying. But wait a minute;

“Wait, they were in a coma too? How come? I'm the one that was bitten and then I did that stuff I did to you with many people in the safehouse I was in” I asked as Juno brought in more seats for everyone.

The doctor checked my temperature and began writing something in his book.

“Well, normally, wolves are linked to their mates when they actually, you know, mate; and it's usually more emotional than physical but you and your mates have a totally different situation. First with the bond going three ways, it's to ensure nobody kills the other in order to have you to themselves. I figure someone else can kill or hurt you without it affecting them fatally but any pain arising from within this bond will affect everyone.” The doctor explained.

“I told the doctor to talk to Fang since my twin here is obsessed with his anger,” Ares said.

It was the first time I heard his voice since I woke up and I focused on him, making my body heat up again. I shook my head and remembered I was supposed to be upset. Well, not as much anymore since I just found out I kind of dragged them into my situation.

“I'm sorry I made us all nearly die. I just wanted them to stop hating me so much, I'm not used to it” I said, looking at the nurse who was standing near the doctor. It was obvious my existence was not satisfying to her but I didn't want to say anything. In fact, I won't bother myself about it anymore, I'll go with Alpha Kane and this will all be in the past.

“It's okay Little Mate, we should have explained to the pack better. They would not have judged you so harshly,” Ares said, and aa he did, he began coming closer to me. I instinctively took a step back. The sparks were overwhelming and even though I loved them, I didn't want my mind clouded by it.

And as expected, he saw the movement and sat back on his side of the bed and I quickly went to sit.

The doctor finished his writing and handed a paper to the nurse.

“So, her vitals are looking okay and she is definitely going to be perfectly fine by tomorrow. Her healing is accelerated but I will advise looking deeper into her background. There are certain questions that can only be answered by that” the doctor told everyone.

“I'm, questions like what, doc?” Juno asked.

“Well, I've done everything I could to bring down her temperature, and it's just consistently hot. The crazier part is how unaffected she is by it, if a werewolf has that high a temperature, they will probably be looking for ice to bathe in. It's like she's sitting on hot coal but she's not reacting.”

“So she's overheating but actually not overheating?”

“Exactly. Only her heart is giving me concerns. Otherwise, she's fine. I just want to keep her around to be sure of everything and to monitor for changes.” The doctor concluded.

They all nodded and began hugging me before leaving. Juno pecked my forehead.

“You'll be fine, alright? We'll figure all of this out soon, don't worry” she assured me.

I nodded and she left with her mate who waved at me. I wished I had such a simple mating situation like that; mine is giving me migraines.

It was the four of us again and I found myself relaxing. Being trapped in that hellish place left its mark on me.

“So can you tell us what happened? You seemed pretty upset when you woke up and Ares said he saw something.”

So I proceeded to tell them everything.

“A dragon? Those are extinct, you have to be hallucinating” Kane said after I finished.

“Well, not exactly. I think you should speak to Fang. He will tell you more” the doctor said as he walked in on our conversation.

“What did he even do that is so unforgivable?” Kane asked them.

“He is a wizard and he killed his first mate by mistake,” Ares replied.
