The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 152: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO

The wind flew through my hair as we ran restlessly. I had been practicing, the new powers still a strange phenomenon but I was confident I could take her.

I'd learnt that they took the battle to the capital and it was a wild race of betrayals and everyone choosing a side. The people who weren't cowards had to merge together to stand a chance of surviving which was why our pack was nearly five times its normal size.

The rest divided themselves into three, some with Alpha Kane because everyone knew about the amphitheater and the dragons in it before. I wonder how he was able to convince them to stay considering said dragons had migrated to NightShade Pack.

The other two were camping in different Vampire covens. Ares had thought about giving them Intel about our planned attack but changed his mind due to the possibility of the information getting into the wrong hands.

One thing our enemies were quite good at was a large spy network. It was why I kept getting betrayed left, right and center and by the time we realized it, they had already gotten everything ready.

I had a wristwatch on instead of my power pearls because I wanted the comfort it provided and I realized we'd been running for four hours at the speed of the vehicles.

“Axel?”

“What's up, Princess? Need to pee?”

“Not really, but I'm concerned about you. Shouldn't I be in the car? I don't want you feeling tired when we actually get there,”

“You're not that heavy, love,”

“Still, I feel guilty.”

“You shouldn't, I love it when you're riding me in whatever capacity,”

“Get your mind out of the gutter!” I exclaimed, laughing in our link.

“Don’t blame me. The heat coming from down there is like I'm getting charged so don't worry,”

“I can't with you. Can I ask you something though?” I started, my voice void of its earlier jesting tone

“Sure love, what's up?”

“Do you think I can actually defeat her? I mean, she's literally a siren with all these extra powers and stuff. What if she brought creatures from down there?”

“I know the new powers are kind of scary to you and you don't want to hurt anyone while using them,”

“Jeez, you're doing a great job at this mind reading things,” I joked.

“Of course, that's what love does to you,”

“But I do love you and yet I can't figure out why you only use shampoo on your hair once a week!”

“My hair is already perfect without all of that. Besides, I don't wanna outshine you,”

“You could never! My hair is absolutely perfect,”

“Of course it is baby. Look, what if you take her somewhere else, away from the battle?”

“Like luring her out?”

“Exactly. That way, you can unleash everything in you and totally obliterate her. Don't worry, I'll come with you in case you need back up,”

“No!” I exclaimed in panic, then in a softer tone, “If anything happens to you because I lost control, I'll never be able to forgive myself,”

“And if anything happens to you while you're there all by yourself, how do you think we'll survive? I regret giving you this idea,”

“Don't feel that way, baby. You can trust me, I'll scream as loud as possible the instant I feel like she'd overpower me, okay?” I assured him.

“Fine. Don't tell him this was my idea though. He hides it well but he's way more protective than that asshole,”

“Hmm. And you're not?”

“I am, I just know what you're capable of and I'm honestly honored to be able to love you the way that I do,”

“You can be so sweet sometimes,”

“I'm sweet all the time, woman!”

“Hahahaha, very funny. But seriously, you need to stop, let me get into a car, okay?”

“Fine, you win.”

“You can get into it with me if you want though,” I offered and he was more than excited to oblige.

“Why are you guys stopping?” Ares shouted through the link as though he wasn't a few meters away from us.

“He's tired, don't worry, we'll be back on track in a few minutes,”

“You should have ridden me instead,”

“She doesn't want to ride you, boo. She knows I'm the one with the real thing here,”

“Axel, be serious for once,” I groaned, getting into the backseat.

“That's how he deals with tension so probably try to find out what's stressing him,” Ares said to me privately.

He's really sensitive and sweet and I couldn't wait for all of this to be over so we could actually enjoy the gift of our bond.

After two more hours of driving, we got within talking distance to Lyra.

“What're you doing?” She asked, her voice panicked.

“Wanted to save you guys the stressful journey of going back and forth. What's wrong?”

“Tharros is injured,”

“Shit. Can he fly?”

“No, we're carrying him back,” she replied. She sounded so tired.

“I'm so sorry, what do you need us to do?” I don't think a car can actually carry a dragon, especially one as huge as Tharros.

“Don't worry, we've got it but you need to go back. We need an effective plan,”

“We can't turn around now,” I said, confused on what to do from here.

“Aurora, they have twice the army they had when you last saw them and there are so many fire resistant warlocks. It's not safe!”

“I plan to engage her solely. Once I take her out, the rest should fall back,”

“She's just one head of the gorgon head. The rest are still going to try to take you out so at least give me time to recuperate so I can help,”

I shook my head, we've gotten so far here, turning around won't be possible.

“How about this? We slow down so you guys can get him somewhere safe and Scarlet can come back to help? Also, what about our parent's dragons?”

“They're not fit for battle anymore,” she sounded so tired, which felt so terrible for me. Lyra has always been a constant supply of emotional strength for me and now that it was the other way, I didn't know how to make her feel better.

I felt shitty.

“But I feel like we stand a chance for real this time,” I insisted, the tug in my spirit insistent.

“Honestly, there's a very small chance of success but hey, go for it!” She snapped and cut the link on her end.

“You good?” Axel asked out loud.

“Lyra is pissed at me,” I replied dejectedly.

I opened the link and shared the conversation with him and Ares, excluding Kane because I didn't want his overprotective Alpha thingy getting in the way.

“We should go back,” Axel said but I was shaking my head.

“We can do this without the dragons, okay? Besides, the armors are stronger this time around and once Aurora takes her out of the way, the fight will be on even ground. Besides, once we attack them with the surprise element on our side, I'm going to make the call for help from the other packs,” Ares explained, giving me a shred of hope.

At least someone sees a way in all of this.

“See? We have a solid plan. Besides, how long are we going to keep hiding from them? I know we're going to lose warriors but what if they get this idea to attack us out of the blues as well? It's not a chance we can take,”

“We are almost there anyway. We can't turn around,” Axel added, concurring with our plans.

Suddenly, all the nerves in my body caught on fire, and I began praying again.
