The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 117: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN
I woke up with a start and for some reason, there was a sense of panic in my mind.
“Aurora! Wake up!” I heard Lyra's panicked voice in my mind, and the moment I turned my head around the room, I could see why.
Maya was standing next to the PVC bag where a liquid was being sent from into my bloodstream.
The bitch had just put something inside it and from the look on her face, it wasn't good
“What are you doing?” I asked instinctively.
“Killing you, of course,” she snapped while shaking the plastic so it could pour faster.
I was struggling to remove the needle from my veins but it was proving difficult. There were so many bandages and I guess my emotions weren't allowing me to concentrate long enough to get it done quickly.
“Ares!” I screamed in pain.
“He's not coming to save you. They're all asleep. The moment I realized you all were tied together, that was when I got this genius idea,” she boasted, a cruel smile on her face.
“But why? You lost a battle you had no business being in the first place. Why are you this hurt about it to the point of wanting me dead?” I asked, already feeling the slight effects of the drug in my system even though I tried so hard to remove the needle.
She saw I was close to succeeding and she rushed over to me and held it in place and I couldn't even struggle that hard because I was feeling weaker as the nightmare in real life played out
“You made me look like an unfit female in front of my mate and he rejected me. Now you're going to die and take your mates with you, he'll definitely take me back once I give him the reins to this pack,” she sneered in my face and that was when the alarm bells in my head finally started working.
“Lyra, please get someone!” I screamed, terrified that I'll finally leave this world at the hands of this deranged shewolf.
“What is it with you guys and power? You were probably unwanted by your mate because you're a hateful bitch. Giving him a pack won't make him love you,” I shouted at her as we dragged the needle.
She slapped me hard on my face, my words getting to her but it finally gave me the space to take out the needle and in a split second decision, I shot it into her right arm and she screamed out in pain and probably frustration.
But it didn't do as much damage as I expected because I wasn't strong enough to keep it connected to her body and instead, she attacked me again and began choking my neck.
I kicked against her but it seemed like a futile effort; I was weakened by the drugs and she had been prepared for this.
“I'll kill you with my own hands, it's easier that way,” she growled as she increased the pressure on my throat.
“Please,” I croaked, tears filling my eyes as it truly dawned on me that I might not make it out of this hospital bed.
I knew Lyra couldn't do anything because she'd have to burn the entire pack to find me and my mates were probably under the same pain I was going through.
In moments like this, I hated the mate bond and how I was the weak link. I would have sent a torrent for fire all over her and we'll have a good day but here I was, dying and dragging three powerful Alphas along with me to the afterlife and leaving a powerful dragon to destroy what was left of me.
It was pitiful.
As the darkness gradually clouded my eyes and I finally lost all hope of being rescued, I heard the door noisily open and a lot of footsteps.
“Ignis exigenis!” Someone screamed but I was too weak to figure it out.
But the glorious feeling of fire engulfed me and my enemy and a smile covered my face as everything faded to black.

I woke up with a start and I felt unbearably hot which was unusual.
I looked around and I was surrounded by my mates who were fast asleep.
I didn't want to wake them up so I gradually stood up and got up from their middle.
I tried stealthily crossing but Axel moved by my right, making me pause.
I wait for him to settle down before I cross over and walk out of the room.
My mind was a chaotic place, the fact that I nearly lost my life running through my mind.
It wasn't just the fact that I nearly died that put my thoughts in a fray but how the two packs would have lost their Alphas and many would have been left bereft simply because someone wanted me dead.
“Aurora? Are you awake?” Lyra asked me and I knew I couldn't shut her out again; not after she saved my life by getting Elena to come when she did.
Hopefully, whatever poison she'd put into my system didn't make my condition worse. Losing my fire powers wrecked me but losing everything completely would definitely drive me into depression as I'd come to fall back on them to validate my presence in the supernatural world.
“Yea. Thank you for saving my life,” I thanked her, she didn't just get Elena to come through, she actually woke me up from sleep so I could.
“It's nothing. You've been distant since we got back. Are you angry at me?” She asked and a large amount of guilt poured into me.
We didn't even get to talk after everything and I'd shut her off because of the doctor's words that sealed my fate.
I felt terrible and scared. I'd buried all my worries in the pleasures my mates offered, meanwhile Lyra was left feeling like she had done something wrong.
“I'm so sorry, I didn't know how to deal with it and I went about it the wrong way. Can I come now?” I asked her, knowing she had a mate now to fawn over.
“Yes please. I kind of feel funny,” she said and I could hear a tiredness in her tone that I'd never detected before.
I rushed outside and it was already dark but I knew I couldn't waste any more time. I'd done enough of that.
“I'm on my way,” I told her and began heading towards the amphitheater.
“Luna, how are you feeling now?” A pack member asked and normally, I'd stop and engage in small talk but I didn't dare waste another minute because Lyra needed me.
Our relationship seemed one sided most times, she always came through for me every time so having her need me was a strange occurrence and I was scared my powerlessness was only going to make matters worse but I at least had to find out what it was.
“I'm feeling great now, thank you so much,” I waved to the man before hurrying off.
When I finally got there, I saw that Elena was already there but Lyra lying down on the ground with her stomach looking heavy and her taking short breaths was a sight that shocked me more.
I quickly rushed over, panic enveloping my being and hoped I wasn't too late.
