The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 179: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-NINE

Lyra was quickly seen to by a healer who noticed that she had been poisoned, just like I'd guessed.

“I'm sorry girl,” I whispered again as she was given herbs to swallow.

I was repulsed by my own people and ashamed of myself for neglecting my dragon. But it was odd, she was supposed to be my protector, not the other way around but I guess it was a two way street. She'll protect me from threats bigger than me and I, against people who can't see beyond their selfish desires.

I walked over to where Scarlett stood, huffing irritably at the air like an angry woman. Elena couldn't even get her to calm down.

“Hey, I'm really sorry for everything,” I whispered to her, my eyes downcast.

“Elena told me you'll be leaving us soon,” she said in my mind and I knew she wasn't happy I'd not told her about it.

“I didn't want everyone feeling sad for me. It's not like I'm dying or anything,”

“But a part of it feels like it. I mean, how often are we going to see you again after this?”

“Very seldom I guess. I'll come for the coronation and when I give birth but afterwards, I don't want to risk it. I'll only be down here if I really have to be,”

“It's really sad. How is Lyra going to survive this pregnancy all by herself? Tharros is very useful but their bond is nothing compared to what you share with your dragon. You both have not even had the time to connect and fly together,”

“You're right but at every important point in the last year, she's been here for me and we've conquered it together. I think that is more than I'll ever ask for. Which is why I'm going to ask her to take Zelda as her next rider,”

“Don't be ridiculous, a rider cannot be replaced just like that,”

“But what else would be best? I abandon her without a rider just like she'd been in the past years before we met?”

“Why can't she go with you? She's been to that realm before,”

“Yes but what about Tharros?”

“What about him?” She snapped and I could see she wasn't as much of a fan of him as we'd hoped. Scarlett found it difficult letting people in and Tharros was no different.

“ She can't leave him here, you know that.”

“Guys, I gotta head in. Chris hasn't had his medicine,” Elena said and I hugged her before she teleported back to the pack house.

“You were saying something?” I said to Scar

“Yea. That's another loophole. Dragons don't need to be in each other's space all the time like humans so he can stay here and she'll always come here to see him,”

“I don't know… Time runs differently over there too. I don't want to be the reason she loses her love,”

“You guys realize I'm literally here, right?” Lyra butted into our heads and I turned to see her looking better than before.

It was probably midnight but the healer worked until she felt better.

“Hey, thank you so much. What's your name?” I said as I walked up to her. My courtesy had disappeared when I realized what had happened and I didn't even bother to find out her name. If simply shoved her into his den and assured her Lyra wasn't violent or angry. She just wanted to stop feeling that pain.

“Mia, my goddess,” she said with a bow of her head.

Jeez, was I wearing anything extravagant? I looked at myself and didn't see any reason why she'd be doing that.

“Thank you so much, Mia but there's no need for bowing. You just saved my dragon's life and we're eternally grateful. Whatever you need, all you have to do is ask,”

“Just that you spare us from your wrath,”

What was she talking about? I wondered to myself as I hugged her one last time, shaking my head at the absurdity of words she was saying

When I got to Lyra, she was wrapped up in her lover's body. Tharros intertwined their necks together and she was breathing heavily. At first it looked like they were having a loving moment but it didn't really sit well with me.

“Damn, you guys are making me jealous,” I said anyway, hoping for some sort of confirmation that this was absolutely normal.

“I don't think that's what is happening. He's holding her back from attacking,” Scarlett explained as we watched the odd scene.

“Attack who?”

“They wanted to kill my child and you're going to just build a world for them?” Lyra screamed in anger, stumping her legs.

I stumbled back in shock, unaware of when this anger happened. I guess the moment she felt better, revenge was next on her mind.

“But we'd already planned to do that. Not a new world exactly but they'd have their own kingdom, away from the rest of the world so they don't go meddling again,” I explained, flying off the ground and getting close to her head. “Look, I don't think killing them all off will be the best solution and somehow I think your anger towards me is just making things worse but trust me, you don't want to take any drastic action while still pregnant. You barely escaped this,”

“This is the second time we're pregnant and some fool thinks it's fine to kill my child?!”

She had a point but all out violence wouldn't do anybody any good. I didn't tell her that though.

“But they didn't succeed and I think what Scarlet was saying is true. Will you come with me to Limbo? You can come visit Tharros as much as you want, you're not going to become weak just because you're on earth,” I suggested as she stopped struggling to be free from Tharros’ hold.

Mia was right to be scared. If we hadn't gotten her to calm down, this pack would have been on fire right now.

I hugged her snout to my chest, our bond feeling warm as she finally calmed down.

“When are we going?” She asked and I smiled.

“Our parents are coming tomorrow and I want to inform them of the development as well as hand them over to my Alpha mates so they can prepare to be integrated into the new world,”

“I hope you're not creating this new town with this pregnancy,”

“Aww, look at you being a fierce and protective mother,” I joked with a smile. “Don't worry, I'm banned from all sort of extracurricular activity apart from the type that my mates are calling me for right now,”

“They've had you all these while, they can wait for a few more minutes,”

“Or course. You always come first. Girls before mates,” I laughed and I guess he said something to Tharros as he left her alone. I gave him a smile and got down on the ground. “You want to talk about something?”

“Yea, I have been a bit harsh to you these last few days. Your journey has not been an easy one and I have barely been able to help,”

“Oh please. Without you, I'd have been dead on three occasions. You keep trying to save me and I keep flying into trouble headfirst without listening to you so please, huge yourself some credit,”

“Yea, you're quite a handful sometimes,” she chuckled and bent down in her sleeping position, her legs were folded and her wings were splayed on the ground. “But I'll always choose you as my rider,”

“You both are disgusting,” Scar grumbled and we laughed hysterically in each other's minds, mine echoing into the night.

As I said goodbye to them, my heart was hung on the fact that I'd give my

parents another chance to be better tomorrow and somehow, I wasn't sure they'd meet my expectations.
