The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 194: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND NINETY-FOUR

As the huge doors opened for me a second time today, I realized my emotions were all over the place.

I was scared, sad and tense.

So many things could go wrong here and I wouldn't have anyone in my corner.

The little I knew about gods and goddesses were not enough to last me through the evening and I was scared I was going to say something to offend someone.

It wasn't like I could just go mute, the banquet was thrown in my honor and I was going to be approached by different people so the possibility of not saying anything was really low.

“You'll be fine I promise,” Darius said to me and I realized I had grabbed his hand too tight.

“Thank you for doing this,” I smiled at him as we walked in.

If my mates were here, I wouldn't even be scared for a second but I couldn't ask them to come. Not after disappearing on them right in the middle of the coronation.

Hopefully I was going to be able to make it up to them here.

But all of that depended on me leaving here unscathed.

Darius led me from the huge entrance through another set of doors that seemed to lead to the main event. I could hear noises of chatter coming from there.

Then the door opened for us.

As I entered the grand banquet hall, the room fell silent. All eyes were on me, and I could feel the weight of their scrutiny.

I scanned the room, taking in the opulent decorations and the lavish attire of the guests. The tables were laden with exquisite dishes, and the air was filled with the scent of roasted meats and fresh flowers.

At the head of the table, Hera sat regally, her piercing gaze fixed on me. I took a deep breath, remembering the words of my servants: I needed to make a good impression.

That sounded like the most difficult thing for me to do and I've been in this type of dilemma before. How was I supposed to be powerful, meek, perfect and still a bit less than Hera all at once?

Besides, these gods were giving me all sorts of red flags and warning signs.

I still remembered Zeus mentioning that the mansion was mine. I hoped he didn't have any plans to ask me to stay here for whatever reason.

As if summoned by my thoughts, he appeared out of thin air.

I was used to being the one to teleport in front of people so seeing someone do it so effortlessly gave me a mild shock.

I waited for about to seconds before he noticed me and his face lit up in an excited smile.

“Welcome!” He greeted in a loud voice, “Everyone, our honored guest is here!” He announced and the entire room cheered in excitement even though they were filled with weird emotions earlier on.

Were they bipolar or just did everything Zeus wanted down to his emotions?

I shook my head and put on my own fake smile.

Hopefully, it reached my eyes.

The King of the gods took my hands from Darius who disappeared immediately I turned around and led me to a table in the middle of the entire room. I was surrounded by gods and goddesses who weren't even trying to hide their stares.

If I wasn't used to dealing with large crowds, I would have melted under their gaze but thankfully, being a Luna taught me a lot so I lifted my head above their eyes and focused on seating down first.

“Thank you,” I smiled as I sat down.

“It's not a problem. We have a large array of entertainment for gods and goddesses and you are required to have fun, alright?” He joked, his unnecessary laughter ricocheting around the room.

It was like the god had a microphone in his throat or something.

I watched him poof back to his throne and I began to eat, and the room gradually went back to their idle chatter, probably gossiping about me.

I was about to taste the strange looking liquid in the glass cup when someone sat on the seat opposite me.

The room went eerily silent.

I looked up to a familiar face.

“Ares?”

“Good day my lady,” he greeted with a smirk, “I believe we'd not had the chance to meet properly.”

“Yea, you called at my house without as much as prompt and I was trying to rest. I apologize for the cold reception,”

“I'm the god of war, I don't keep he said and poured himself a glass of the very thick golden liquid. “If I'm really upset about anything, I go to war,” he added with a shrug.

“Isn't that.. tiring?”

I regretted the question after it came out of my mouth.

He looked at me strangely, but he wasn't upset about the comment, which made me relieved.

“It's all I know how to do. It's my purpose.”

It seemed the thought saddened him and I realized I needed to undo whatever it was I'd done with my question.

“Well, I hear you do it exceptionally well so,” I commented on his prowess, after all, he was a man.

He took the bait and lightened up, immediately launching into tales about his exploits.

I finally tasted the drink and it was the most delicious liquid that had ever crossed my lips.

Intoxicating too.

I guess this level of supernaturals were not used to the concept of tiredness because the moment I yawned, he panicked.

“Are you alright? What do you need me to do?”

Probably leave so I can stay on my own. I didn't give a damn how he helped Hercules perform his task or how he caused world war two. I just wanted to be on that fluffy bed until three pm the next day.

“I'm very fine, Ares, just tired.”

He breathed heavily, I guess he was right to be worried. If anything happened to me, all hands would point to him as the cause since he was sitting with me.

“Its so easy to forget you're not yet a true goddess,” someone sneered next to me on the next table.

“Put your tongue back in your filthy mouth, Aphrodite,” Ares growled, making the entire room gasp and all eyes were on me again.

I would have stayed in bed if I had the choice to.

This drama wasn't on my to-do list tonight m
