They didn't go with the workers to the capital again and we spent the entire day together even though I was supposed to be done with this plane by that time. It wasn't even sex, considering how much my body craved them. They instead took me around the pack, we went swimming in the river, we went running and just kept trying to create memories as much as possible.

None of us mentioned anything about the time or our earlier plans. We just kept coming up with new things to do to fill up the day until it was evening.

Then Ares arranged for the pack to gather together with just a command.

The meeting with the pack hadn't gone as I'd expected. For reference, this pack had not liked me at the beginning when I got here and coming back again, there was still some hostilities, not as bad as the first time but there was an air about them towards me.

Then, for the past few days since after the war, I'd been a pain in the ass basically. My aura had everyone staying away from me except it was absolutely necessary and I didn't want to feel bad about it because it wasn't their fault really but I did feel bad.

So I'd expected a little bit of sadness and that would be it.

But people were crying.

“Guys, what's happening? Are they really that upset?” I asked my mates in our mindlink, expressing my confusion.

I wasn't much of an empathic person and didn't know what to do with all the sad faces in the crowd, Elena was crying too even though she knew before now.

“They're sad about you leaving, isn't that obvious?” Axel replied with a weird look sent my way as Ares kept explaining everything to them.

“Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered by so many people wanting me to be alive and all of that but they have never really liked me like that. Tears are a little bit over the top for someone they wish didn't even come here in the first place,”

“How long have you felt this way?”

“I guess I've always known that without all these extra powers and the Luna bond, they'd never have wanted me. They might have even convinced you to do away with me,”

“This is ridiculous, they love you!” Axel exclaimed, his face showing everyone that the conversation in our mind wasn't sunshine and rainbows.

“She's right, Axel. But our society is built that way to avoid chaos. We can't change that but deep beneath all that power, you're an amazing person and they see that. So of course, they're sad that you won't be here with us anymore,” Ares added and then took my hand.

“This woman here has brought magnificent changes into our lives and I'm grateful that I get to see for eternity. But most of you won't so if you have anything you want to say to her, now's the time. I don't think they'd be much time at the coronation,” Ares spoke loudly to the crowd.

We were gathered at the pack dinner space outside for the meeting and it was filled to the brim. The only people absent from here were the pack territory guards and some warriors.

One girl stood up in the middle of the gathering and someone helped her stand on her table.

“My name is Avery, you may not remember me but the first time we met was when the rogues attacked us and you came into the safe house with a rogue bite on your leg,” she began and my mind drifted to that terrible night. I've felt pain at different points in the last year but nothing close to that. It was excruciating. It was also the first time I went into a coma, so the name didn't really sound familiar.

“Hello Avery,” I waved at her with a smile.

“My brother had died during one of these battles and I was filled with guilt because I felt it was my fault. With your legs bleeding out and the possibility of near death, you still gave your power for me to see him for the last time.”

Oh

“You took away that guilt from my shoulder and I've been able to get admission into medical school just like he always wanted me to,”

The crowd erupted in claps and cheers and I teleported over to her and wrapped her in a hug.

“I'm so sorry I completely forgot. When I woke up from the coma, there were holes in my memory and I'm sorry I didn't come to look for you,”

“It's fine. Your sacrifice saved my life in every way. It's been a great privilege watching you be your selfless self to us that didn't deserve you,”

I didn't even know how I joined her in crying but I was speechless.

Someone watching me in the shadows and being happy at my progress wasn't a reality I'd ever thought possible.

Gradually, people began to stand up to say how I'd impacted their life one way or the other and they weren't even talking about the war.

Their Alphas had become better, the omegas were beyond grateful and it was just a show of tears that night.

They opened my heart up, took out all the self hate and filled me with so much love.

“Thank you so much guys. I had no idea I was loved this much and I'm happy you got to say it to me even though the circumstances aren't ideal. I want you to know that this isn't goodbye. Even though the moon goddess is going to be watching over you as she has always done, I've taken it up on me to do the same. The future will be marvelous,” I said to my people and the loud cheers and claps filled me with joy.

“Told you,” Axel said in my mind and I smacked his ass jokingly. “Ouch woman! Assaulting my innocent ass isn't very ladylike of you, y’know,”

I laughed at his antics and we went to our table as the omegas began bringing out the food.

I looked around the pack and I knew I'd always crave the feeling of community it offered. If I could, I'd be here as often as possible.

I saw Elena coming over and I excitedly waved her over with a smile.

“Um, sorry Alphas, I kind of need to steal your mate away for a few seconds,” she said as she got to our table.

“Why?” Axel nearly growled at the girl, his tense body wrapping around me immediately. I laughed at his protectiveness.

I knew we were all pretending to be okay with this new development but deep down, we were going crazy.

“Scarlet wants to see her and her mind has been turned off for a while now so don't shoot the messenger,”

“I'll see you later, love,” I told, giving him a kiss and doing the same with Ares who grabbed my waist, elongating the kiss.

“Seriously?” Elena exclaimed, making us all laugh

“Alright, alright, let's go,”
