The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 81: CHAPTER EIGHTY-ONE

“I will ask you one last time, Cameron, why betray this pack and attempt to harm my mate!?” Kane roared at the unresponsive traitor who had taken enough beatings, much to Cora's pain.

At this point, she was begging him in their link to stop denying what was clearly shown on the camera and confess so she could have a moment of freedom from the pain but he kept insisting he didn't have any explanation and worse of all, he was denying what everyone could clearly see.

“I know I'm not a part of this pack but you all gave me what I've never had all my life; a family. I would never betray you or my beautiful mate.” He replied, spitting out the blood that was dripping into his mouth.

During the last thirty minutes, he had taken the truth potion and it had been tested on other people, Kane inclusive and it worked.

I mean, now we all know that deep down, Kane actually wants to keep me to himself, that was why the spell worked but I hope he's over that because I wasn't going to let go so easily if something like that happened again

But as for Cameron, he has been stuck on one sentence;

“I don't know what the hell happened, you have to believe me!”

But that was difficult. There was literal video evidence.

I just knew something was amiss and we needed to figure it out before doing something we would regret.

I turned to his grieving mate.

“Cora, did you notice any of Cameron's clothes go missing in the last few days?”

She was about shaking her head before she remembered something.

“Yes, yea I remember now. His warrior outfit for Monday. How did you know about that? He was asking me about two days ago,”

“I'm just trying to see if there's something else afoot here. Maybe.. maybe he's actually innocent,” I whispered.

“Please don't get my hopes up, Aurora. I've made my peace with this whole situation and I just want it to be over so I can grieve and move on. He doesn't get to betray me like that and get away with it just because he's resistant to a truth potion. You saw the video!” She lashed out, making heads turn to me but I didn't react.

She was obviously in pain and was trying to protect herself in every way possible.

“I'm sorry, just stay here, I'm coming, okay?” I said to her as I got up from the couch.

“Where are you going?” She asked.

“Don't worry, I just need to visit the restroom,” replied and sent Axel a message through mindlink to follow me without drawing attention.

I remembered my abilities didn't end with conjuring fire or being a conduit between the dead and the living; I could hear animals and maybe they could hear me too so I just need to find out.

I walked out of the meeting room and I noticed Elena came along with Axel as well.

I still didn't like her and I sure as hell knew she wasn't wishing for my everlasting happiness but she was very useful so I tried to make sure my feelings about her weren't written on my face.

“Princess, what's the matter? Is the gore of the whole thing too much?” Axel asked me with concern.

“No, it's not that. I just feel like something is wrong. I mean, don't you feel like this is too easy? And Elena, you did something to Kane before that possessed him and made him do your bidding. Maybe it was the same thing,” I expressed, trying to get them to see that this whole situation was absurd.

“You do have a point, my love. I've seen truth potions in action before and it is truly irresistible. I just don't know what is happening. And even if the truth potion wasn't working, Kane has already used his Alpha command a few times, yet, he refuses to confess. We need him to do we can figure out their next plan of action,” Axel said, his hand reaching to hold my shoulders

I sighed and looked at Elena, but her mind was focused on something else; it was like she was here but far away at the same time.

“Elena? What do you think?” I asked and she jolted out of her reverie in a visible manner.

“Um, it's not what I did with Kane but yea, I feel a sinister presence within him. I just thought it was his evil mind or something. That was why I made the potion extra strong but maybe we are looking at this the wrong way,” she said, scratching her dark, lustrous hair in thought.

“Baby, can we take a look at those cameras again? I'll need to tell Kane to slow down. Besides, he's supposed to have been on his way to the council. We don't want them coming here themselves.” I said to Axel and he nodded.

“Thank Hecate we found those dragon pits. Even if they come, they'll have to be searching extra hard to discover them.” says Elena confusing me

“Who?”

“Hecate is what Selena is to the witches. I reverted back to her after your goddess took away my mate,” she replied, sadness passing through her but she shook it off with a shake of her head.

“I'm sorry about him. I hope you get a second chance, just like I did.” Axel told her kindly, just as we got to the security office.

I quickly paused to tell Kane to slow down.

“Baby, I don't know if you can slow down the whole process? Something feels off and we are trying to find out what it is. Just give him a little time,” I said to him and it took him a while to respond.

We were already going through the videos before he did.

“This filth deserves to die for what he did to you baby, but I'll give you time to do what you need to do. I'll lock him up in the dungeon.”

“Make sure someone you trust is watching him. If I'm wrong, he might find a way to escape,”

“That won't happen ever again, I had the dungeon spelled after your foster father escaped.”

“Oh, that's better. Meanwhile, go take a shower and prepare for your trip. We'll sort this out before you are back, okay?”

“Damn! I totally forgot that. Thank you, love,” he replied and I tuned him out as he began making announcements to the pack.

I focused on the video again but I had to pause at the sight before me.

Axel had brought a long bench from the game room next to us and placed the laptop in front of me while I was talking to Kane but his plans for our sitting arrangements were flouted

Elena literally left the seat right next to my right where she was supposed to sit and was sitting next to Axel, leaning over his chest to see what was right in front of me.

I was about to react but this wasn't the right time for it and I could be wrong, maybe something happened while I was zoned out that made her choose to sit there so I pushed the laptop closer to Axel so she didn't have to nearly sit on his lap to view it.

“Axel, what about the camera that is facing their house? I noticed one directly there,” She asked and I watched her slippery fingers slide over my mate’s arm as she showed him what she was talking about.

“Yea, Kane had one installed there so he could watch his sister. He had some premonition to do so, let me check it out,” he innocently replied while scrolling through the feeds.

“You're really good at this,” she commented and if you ask me, I'll tell you she was full on flirting with him.

Her hands were still on him and I don't think I've ever hated a piece of flesh as much as I did at that moment but I took deep breaths to calm myself so we could focus on the issue at hand.

Besides, if he wasn't into it, he'll tell her to fuck off, I'm just irritated at the open disrespect.

“Here, wait, who is that?” Axel asked, zooming the camera on the person walking into Cora and Cameron’s lovely cottage

“I think this was when we were at the ceremony. The face isn't familiar. Kane should be able to recognize him.” I said and I was about to send him a message when the door opened and to my irritation, Elena adjusted herself immediately, putting adequate distance between her and Axel.

It was Ares and Kane that walked in, looking less disheveled and bloody, unlike the last time I saw them in the pack meeting hall.

“Do you recognize this face?” He asked.

“Unfortunately, yes. That is my half brother.” Kane replied, his face hardening
