The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 52: CHAPTER FIFTY-TWO

As we had dinner that night, I sat at his right hand, eating while my hand kept lighting and turning off fire like a lighter, absentmindedly. It was easier now that I've finally cracked that door inside me that restricted my ability to channel the fire.

I had done what he had asked of me and I wondered if he would let me go now. Funny enough, I didn't want to stop learning from him, I just wanted to see my mates and find out why they had not helped rescue me. I hoped it was a genuine one and most importantly, I hoped they were safe.

“So, I was wondering, if I convince them to let you train me, will you be able to come? I still feel very unprepared” I voiced out to him.

He dropped his fork and sighed.

“Look, Princess, I took a leave from something really important to come here and teach you the basics. I wish I could continue but I need to go back immediately. I've sent your mates the location we're in and they will be here to pick you up soon. But promise me this” he began.

“What is that?”

“You'll never stop practicing. What I've taught you is the foundation of your powers. I'll give you books that have techniques. You need to be ready for anything. Scarlet will find you one day and your mind needs to be strong enough to withstand her so promise me you won't rely on your mates and their pack, instead, you will become an asset on your own” he asked of me in a tone that left no space for refusal

“I will, I promise”

“Good. If you have any questions regarding your training, I will be able to answer them over text messages. Phone calls are not allowed” he warned sternly and I nodded

“Why haven't I seen my dragon all these while? She said she's going to be able to visit at night but she hasn't for a while now. Is she okay?” I enquired, finally satisfied with the food.

Immediately I pushed my plate away, the butler who I had tried several times to talk to appeared and cleared them away. It was as though everyone here was under strict instructions to ignore me.

“She is asleep. I know you have burning questions but there's only so little I can tell you right now.”

“Okay, but can I know why you guys live in hiding? You are dragons, shouldn't you be ruling the supernatural world?”

“The dragon species are very rare and we hide ourselves from the rest of the world. We once ruled all of them but had to go into hiding when the rest of the supernatural world began getting jealous of our power and so many species banded together to fight against us,” he began, also done with his food.

“Now, one would think killing a dragon would be a foolish attempt but the catch was that dragons bonded with humans and they did for life. Most dragon riders lived for hundreds of years and they were extremely strong, both male and female.

But this put us on par with vampires, wolves and witches. If you kill a dragon's human, you've ultimately signed them up for death. The three came together and attacked Dragon Kingdoms all over the world, and when a rider was killed, the dragon lost their will to live. They would go on a rage flight, killing themselves in the process but taking millions of people with them.” And I saw the sadness in his eyes as he told me this. I almost felt guilty for making him tell me.

But he still continued.

“We retreated into hiding, giving them the idea that we were extinct but secretly training. One thing the other three species failed to realize was that our reign prevented the other world from encroaching on us but with us out of the picture, they were like a newborn left in the open. There have been disappearances all over the world. Unexplainable occurrences and no one is even asking the right questions. But we are getting ready to come back into the light and this time, our plan is simple. The dragon riders will be men and women from every species. There will be unity among us as we face the great evil ahead. Now, I must retire, I have a long journey in the morning.” He got up and went inside, leaving me perplexed and deep in thought.

I was woken up by the sound of tires driving in furiously into the mansion and I looked out of the window.

At first I was scared, I wasn't prepared to fight anyone yet and it was just me, Flynn and the staff. I doubt we'd be able to successfully defeat a full attack without any casualties but as the SUVs opened, to my delight, it was Ares and then Kane and Axel that stepped out of the car.

But they didn't look too happy, making me quickly run out of my room to go meet them.

When I got to the sitting room, Kane held the butler's neck, his legs hanging off the floor.

“Stop!” I screamed in panic. What on earth is going on?

“Where is the bastard that kidnapped our mate!?” He asked, ignoring me

“Kane, if you let go of his windpipes, he'd be able to answer you. Now please drop him. And I wasn't kidnapped, well, not in the way that Juno did but just put him down please” I pleaded and I went to hold his hands.

He finally dropped the wheezing man who began to struggle to breathe.

“We asked you a question. Where is he?” Axel demanded while Ares walked around the house, opening doors and ransacking the whole place while the staff all stood around watching us.

“He.. he traveled this morning before sunlight. He said he will be reachable by text only” the Butler finally gave them a response and by the looks on their faces, they didn't like his answer.
