The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 47: CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN
I was running away from Scarlett – she told me her name when I referred to her as an it, after spewing hot embers at me – and I realized everywhere was getting colder.
I thought dragons controlled fire, does it mean she also has powers to produce ice? Like she needed more powers.
It wasn't like a contrasting situation, there was no flick and bam! Ice everywhere. It was gradual, slow and steady.
She didn't even bother chasing me anymore, she simply stood and watched me with a sinister smile.
“One way or another, little girl, I will get what I want from you. I always do” she said, cackling like an evil villain. Well, I guess she is.
“But she's your twin, why do you want to hurt her so badly?” I screamed back in reply, rubbing my hands as I ran, also noticing icicles on my arms.
“I owe you no explanation. Besides, your little mind cannot understand how a dragon thinks. Before I chose this path, I sought every other way and this is the best one so quit dragging this and just tell me where you are!”
“If I knew, Scarlett, I would be in the condition I'm in right now!” I grumbled as I nearly fell due to the ground being frozen.
I was no longer able to run smoothly but she could fly and she rose up above me in two powerful flaps of her beautiful blue wings.
“How are you able to do this?” I wondered out loud.
“I control fire, not the other way around. When you take away every form of it, what remains?” She asks in her jarring voice.
“Ice” I replied softly before the ground broke under me and I fell into the ground.

I woke up and everywhere was rowdy
There has never been this many people in the room at the same time and they were all arguing.
“It's been three days! If she can't get this shit done, we have to send someone. Our master will kill us if we delay any further” a girl with mohawk hair and tattoos all over her body told the guy that wanted to unalive me earlier.
“True, we promised to help her get revenge but it's obvious she doesn't want it as bad as she claims and is simply delaying our mission. I won't have our master cut my head off because of her, we've got to send someone else” another guy that was trying so badly to look like a gangster but just had a bad tattoo artist destroy his skin, added.
“No, we can't send anyone, Tee; she's the only one that they won't kill on sight. Her mate is the Pack’s Beta so they're definitely hesitant about doing anything rashly. The moment you step into that territory, you'll be muzzled to death.”
The room became eerily quiet with everyone in their thoughts.
“Maybe we should just kill her; the rest of them would die as a result and the pack and its resources will be ours for the taking. Master won't mind that his orders were not followed to the letter if we give him results” mohawk girl suggested and then I knew why I hated her the moment I saw her.
“You know, that's a good idea. We waited for them to seal their mating so they can be connected and we can use her to get them since she's their weak link. She pushed them to do it and we've gotten what we wanted so why not improvise?” Another guy with an obsession for his fingernails added and as I heard their conversation, I began to panic.
This wasn't just threats or speculation, they were literally planning to kill me.
“So how do we do this? I don't want to kill everybody in this hotel just because of her, this place is literally perfect for our operations,” the one that seemed to be in charge of all of them said, his voice suggesting he was probably high on drugs.
I'd seen them do lines quite a lot and the wolves always mocked the humans for being light brains, sometimes pressuring them to nearly kill themselves with it. Sometimes I wished they did.
A tear escaped my eyes as they began plotting to kill me. I didn't let them know I was awake because I didn't want to go back to sleep and probably discover another power Scarlett possessed; I've had enough for now.
“Yea, we can't shoot her but Gary can give her an overdose” the girl suggested. Ugh! Can she be any more bitter? She's providing all the terrible solutions. Maybe she has a personal reason to hate me so much seeing as I'm suddenly having external enemies even though I've lived my life without allowing people in.
“Great idea, Tee. Get Gary here. How much is too much though? I realized she's a little bit too strong. Sometimes it feels Juno was lying to us about her true capability. If we kill a potential blood supplier, I'll kill her too” their leader said as he leveled me with a withering look. My eyes were closed but I could feel his stares.
When Gary was given his instructions, I smelt the urine that streamed on his pants.
“You guys promised I wasn't gonna kill anyone!” He cried out.
It was obvious he knew how much of a choice he didn't have and any chance of escape equaled death, judging by the way they all stared at him, shutting off his protest.
As he dragged his feet, the bulky guy that had screamed in my face earlier hit his head to speed things up.
“Get to work, you fool! Don't waste my time”
He rushed down and was apologizing to me as he prepared to kill me.
By now, I was done pretending I was asleep, I was full on crying and making sounds In my throat.
Was this how I was going to die? My life was just about to get better. Why did they come into my life if it was going to end like this? My thoughts kept spiraling as he mixed the drugs up.
When he brought out the big needle that looked like it was straight out of a horror movie, my heart rate spiked
This was a terrible way to die and I was terrified. I pleaded with them with my eyes, begging in muffled sounds for them to change their mind but these were hardened criminals working for a master. They didn't care.
Just as Gary was finding the perfect spot to inject me, we heard a gunshot and their leader dropped dead on the ground, his blood spilling on the expensive rug.
And then, everywhere erupted in chaos.
