What is wrong with her?” I asked, kneeling down beside my other half as I battled with guilt.

“She's been feeling sick for the past two days and I've been trying to figure out what is wrong but it seems it's a dragon situation. I can't find anything that works,” Elena told me and she looked quite distraught.

“Was it me? Did me losing my powers affect her too?” i wondered out loud, the thought, a crushing weight on my shoulders. If Lyra lost her life because of me, I'd definitely hate my existence.

“I don't think so, you've been depleted before and she was able to fly you all the way, it's probably something she ate, Hecates only knows whats out there with these demonic attacks everywhere,” she said, emoting a feeling of revulsion but i was more interested in her choice of words.

“No Elena, my powers aren't depleted, the poison I inhaled has rendered me void of my fire powers. I won't ever produce fire again so I'm scared it might be what is affecting Lyra," I said sadly.

“That's weird. You cant lose one of your powers permanently, Aurora. Nature doesn't work like that,” She said, turning from Lyra’s sleeping form to look at me like I was going crazy.

A tiny ray of hope began to blossom in my heart but I squashed it, the doctor had been very sure of his diagnosis and the reason i wasn't talking to Kane right now was because he waa trying to force me to get used to the idea too fast. Elena must have made a mistake so i told her so.

I watched her go back and forth with her dragon and I went around Lyra to see if i'll see a hidden injury or something.

Knowing shebhad used her last bit of strength to save my life made me feel guiltier. And to think I accused her of being loyal to my parents and not caring about me. It was obvious she was more devoted to me than anyone else in my life.

I walked back to where Elena stood, hands akimbo and she looked to be having an argument with Scarlet.

“What's wrong?” I asked, hoping it wasn't more bad news.

“Scarlet wants to connect with you so i don't have to be going back and forth, apparently im a butthead. Thats what you said!” she shouted back at Scarlet who huffed out smoke in frustration.

Whatever had them in a tiff must have been serious.

“Really?” I queried her. Scarlet wont even let me come close to her so linking our minds seemed a bit too personal and seeing as they were in a disagreement over something, i didn't want to come in between them.

“Yea, it's better that way. You're always getting in trouble anyway, so its best they both can help,” she said with a smile

“Okay, i guess that makes sense but only if you're okay with it though,”

“Yes now come over here, you look like i'm going to bite you,” she said, making us both laugh but mine was surface deep. I was in a sea of sadness with no idea how to swim.

I walked closer to where she stood with her hand on Scarlet’s wings.

“What do you need me to do?” I asked, confused on how this was going to happen.

I was hoping that this would help us figure out what was wrong with Lyra. It was very unusual and Scarlet was the only way we could figure it out.

“It's simple, really. Just hold my hand and place the other on her. I'll say the words,” she directed me and I followed her instructions.

Touching Scarlett's body was an experience on its own. While Lyra was always warm and felt like sunshine and rainbows, Scarlet emitted sort of like a dark humming energy that would make you terrified if she didn't like you.

It was difficult to believe that at some point, she wanted to hurt me but touching her right now, I knew the possibility was always there, she just decided not to. I hope for her to finally warm up to me sometimes so I don't have to always be scared of getting too close.

As Elena began to repeatedly chant, a tiny spark began from my feet and coursed through me all the way to where my fingers connected to Scarlet.

The more she chanted, it became more intense until I heard a shrilling sound in my ear which dwindled down gradually.

“Jeez, your mind is a sad place,” Scarlet said in my head and the strange voice shocked me for a while.

“Hi Scar,” I said with a smile and she huffed in irritation but something told me she wasn't actually upset, just maintaining her aura and all that dragon pride.

“Lyra needs to go back to Arkonos. I think she's pregnant and there's no way she will survive the birthing process here,” Scarlet dropped the bomb on me, making me feel a drop of dread

“But she can barely move, how will she get there? And everywhere is unsafe right now, can't you go back and bring a healer instead?” I suggested.

“That's what I was saying. Tharros will stay with her and she'll go to bring someone who can help out. Besides, isn't it time they came out of hiding? The supernatural world needs the dragons power or else, they'll be returning to supernatural zombies and those assholes in power,” Elena said in vexation.

“I think that's what they're waiting for. Now that I think about it, Flynn mentioned something about them not wanting to fight two wars and Scarlet, Elena is right. Going there seems to be the best option. Please try to convince Ravena to come with you, I don't think it's safe for her there,” I pleaded and for the first time, I saw an emotion that wasn't anger or irritation in her eyes.

“But they won't let Elena in with me. I'll have to leave her,” she said sadly and I almost teared up.

She was saying no because she didn't want to be separated from her.

Somehow, in that moment, it felt like we'd misunderstood Scarlet in a lot of ways. I guess that was why Lyra was never too angry at her because she knew she was just mourning the loss of my twin.

She was really strong to have moved on from it because other dragons usually wrecked havoc before killing themselves.

Scarlet however, wanted to feel that connection and I was the closest to her original rider that she could ever get.

Now, we were making her leave Elena behind for the first time since they met

“Don't worry, Scar. I'll be right here, waiting for you,” Elena assured her while hugging her snout tightly.

“You're stifling me, woman!” She grumbled but they laughed it off, making me smile.

Immediately, I heard a clap of powerful wings and I looked up to see Tharros carrying a huge buck in his talons.

I understand why Lyra fell for him, the dragon was a powerful beast.

He dropped down and flew over to her, making us all move back as he examined her.

He nudged her, trying to wake her up but Scarlet snapped at him to let her rest.

It never occurred to me that I would be dealing with this type of situation. I would have read up about it.

“Stupid male,” She grumbled before telling him what she was about to do.

Everyone could see the way his eyes lit up in gratitude and I knew my Lyra had found true love.

Scarlet and Elena stood together for a while, saying goodbye and I felt really bad for separating them but I knew it was very necessary.

Lyra needed all the help she could get.

“I'll see you soon, little fireball,” she said to me affectionately and I nearly cried. I can't believe she finally shows me a pleasant emotion

I stood with Elena as we waved her bye with our hands intertwined.

“You know what this means, right?” She said after a few seconds.

“That Lyra will be fine?” I said with hope.

“Of course but that's not it,” she replied, confusing me.

“What then? I don't know how to guess, I'm sorry,”

“Funny girl. Someone obviously tampered with your contraceptives, you're pregnant,” she said, leaving me confused and flabbergasted.
