The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 38: CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT
The downside of developing superpowers overnight is that you might not have control over it.
And if you are as unlucky as I was, you'll go to sleep in your handsome mate’s arms and wake up in the midst of an inferno.
Well, I'm being a bit dramatic. I guess the moment they smelt the smoke, they woke up and in the process of solving the problem, i guess they got into an argument as usual and being that we slept in a wooden house, the spark became something else.
We are currently watching Axel run in and out of his home office with boxes of electronics.
I couldn't stop the tears by the way. I felt pity for myself. Life always waits a little bit for others to enjoy their happiness but mine? Everything goes to shit in minutes!
Ares was trying to console me but it just made me feel worse, I didn't deserve his pity. I was a walking disaster and father was right. I don't deserve to live.
I had successfully ruined two houses that were built with love and dedication.
The pack obviously smelt how much trouble I was and didn't want me. I was so scared of Axel’s reaction that I didn't notice the pack members gathering.
Kane then did something that shocked me. I heard his voice speaking but his mouth wasn't moving.
Then I noticed it was in my head.
“What?” I asked out loud.
“I said you need to stop crying. We don't want people to know it was from you. Remember the conversation we had about blood poachers?” He repeated.
It took me a second to comprehend what he was saying and I quickly reined in my emotions.
Axel finally finished and came to address the small crowd that had gathered.
“There's no cause for alarm guys. It's the first time we are spending time with our mate so I totally forgot to turn off the gas. I was trying to make something special for her myself. You all can go back to bed, no one was hurt” he said.
“Yes Alpha” they chorused and I waited with baited breaths for when we'll be alone and he'll probably go off on me again.
Juno came to hug me and it took a whole lot for me to avoid breaking down into hysterics in her embrace.
“Sorry for the whole thing. You are really strong, bestie”
“I feel so shocked. And guilty. If he wasn't trying to do something for me, this wouldn't have happened” I replied, trying to lean into the lie we were going with.
“Oh, you know our Alpha Axel. Always trying to make everything exceptional. Don't feel bad, okay?”
I nodded.
“Let's catch up tomorrow, alright?”
“Okay. Now go to bed, your mate looks like he's tired of waiting” I waved at her.
She chuckled and ran to him. Sigh. Some people just have it easy.
The three of them carried the boxes and we all went to one of the big buildings they call a Pack house and we went up to the penthouse, which I learned was reserved for the Alphas. They had decided to build their own private house when they became old enough to have mates.
When we entered the overly decorated room, I was terrified. What if I burnt this place again? It was the most beautiful mancave I'd ever seen. The curtains, the couches and the devices were topnotch.
Before I could stop myself, my hands caught fire again and I began to hyperventilate.
“Fuck! Princes, you need to breathe” I heard Axel say to me but he sounded very far away.
“I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I know you are disappointed in me. Gosh, I'm so problematic” I uttered, burning my clothes as I frantically tried to put out the fire.
He hugged me and this shocked me, forcing my brain to focus.
“You are so fucking perfect, Princess. Don't ever doubt that” he whispered as he peppered kisses all over my head.
Kane took my hand and kissed it, also doing everything to help me calm down.
“You literally just got a brand new power out of the blues. There's nothing you can do to control it for now, apart from turning off your emotions so stop blaming yourself, okay?” He said and I nodded. He used his big hands to wipe my tears, making me feel warm inside.
“Now, we need to take precautionary measures” Ares said, coming out of the room with a big bowl filled with water.
“Um, how will that work, brother?” Axel asked him.
“Simple, she'll dip her hands in while she sleeps. Water counteracts fire, problem solved. At least until we find her a trainer that we can trust”
I was definitely exhausted so whatever they felt was best was fine by me. I wasn't in the place to have many opinions.
I went to a couch and placed tables on each side.
“Smart girl” Ares said, making me smile a little.
It was endearing how they all took care of me in my moment of vulnerability. While Axel and Kane worked to calm me down, he went ahead to get solutions so I could sleep peacefully. If he hadn't, I doubt I would have been able to sleep.
I sat down and Kane brought pillows and a soft, velvety duvet for me and as he placed me in a comfortable position, I gradually fell asleep, hoping to have a better day tomorrow.
