“Wait, what does that word mean? I thought it was someone's name. You are saying it's a title?” I asked, remembering my earlier assumption about it being Ares' lover.

“A Luna is the female half of our Alpha. He is our leader but he is answerable to only you. You create the balance and your impact is massive. That is why you have to be a part of everything that happens in the pack. You will be our mother” she explained.

Oh. Well, that is crazy. There's no way I'll be able to do that. I was a nobody, I couldn't even pick what I wore today and they are telling me this?

And I realized I felt way too much relief that my earlier assumption was incorrect. I shook my head at the crazy path my emotions were taking me and focused back on Juno.

“Wait, so if I'm to be this Luna thing, why are the people I'm supposed to be leading giving me such hostile looks and attitude? I literally just arrived, I doubt I'd done anything so horrible,” I asked, remembering how the people murmured and someone even dragged her child away from my path like I had a viral disease.

“Wait, what? Why would they do that? Your mate is gonna be pissed! You are very important to this pack and they need to respect that! You need to tell him so he can address this immediately”, she said angrily.

“But won't that make me look, I don't know, weak? There must be a better way to get them to like me than getting him to force them.”

I doubt he would do anything about it; he literally said he wasn't interested in me and I didn't want to force his hand to protect me. I'll endure whatever happens until I have to leave. I'll be going to Alpha Kane's pack in two months' time so I can get through this. I had to.

“Well, he's your mate. You both can deal with it the way you want, but I know Christopher would have their hide if it were me” she said, still hinting at me reporting the whole pack to the werewolf who doesn't want me.

“Juno, trust me, I'm good. Let's just start the lessons, okay? And I have so many questions. I could never have imagined a world like this existed” I gushed, expertly changing the subject.

It worked.

She began schooling me about the werewolf world, its laws, how they communicate with each other and so many cool things. It was a whole new system, and although they had their issues rooted in classism and sexism, everything else was super cool.

“The core of our existence is our family. A wolf will destroy the world to protect his mate and pups. It's why we are in this never-ending battle with the DarkMoon Pack. They hurt us and we hurt them right back but between both of us? I think they've got to stop it. It's consuming more lives every single time!” She said, her voice decreasing, almost in a whisper.

Oh, super hearing. Even though her door was soundproof, she still had to be careful, I guess.

“Oh, now I understand why they hate me apart from the whole human thing. I'm a part of the other pack as much as a part of this one. I guess they assume I'm here gathering information for the other side”

“Well, now you get it. They will treat you like a damn spy. Which is why you need to talk to Alpha Ares,” she reiterated.

I shook my head.

“Juno, I've been through worse things than people refusing to smile when I walk past. Besides, the allegations make no sense; I was in that pack for less than three hours before you guys came and no one even knew the attack was gonna happen,”

“I believe you but that is because I've always known you. You couldn't hurt a fly even if you tried but you must promise to tell me if he threatened you. We are stronger than him and we'll give you protection from him”

“Oh, not you too!” I exclaimed in exasperation.

“No, I'm just saying. I'm just throwing that out there, I'm not saying you are actually a spy.” She said, throwing her hands up.

“Look, I don't even know who I'll choose at the end of this whole thing. When I was in his pack, he didn't exactly treat me like a princess, so I have no loyalty to him. Now that we are talking about it, I realize his pack will have more reason to suspect that I'm a spy when I go back there. They might even think I've chosen a mate and I'm going there to gather information.”

Damn, I was fucked either way.

“You know, that won't be such a terrible idea, you know” Juno said, smiling creepily.

“Please don't be a hypocrite. I'm not spying for anyone. Whatever war y'all are into, I'm not going to be a part of it. I'll talk to Ares, they need to end this experiment. It won't end well.”

“Sorry about that, Aurora. Let's get on with your lessons.” She replied, bringing out a book from the shelf that was at her back.

By evening, I was brimming with information and so many questions. I hadn't set my eyes on Ares or even his twin today and it made me feel a certain way, but I ignored it.

I had a relatively better day today and it made me hopeful that my stay here wouldn't be so bad. I intended to utilize Juno's familiarity to stay on the safe side of things. She gave me lots of books to read and catch up with and I could already imagine how my night would be.

“You should come to the Pack Dinner. You don't want them to think you are a snob”, Juno advised me.

The thought scared me.

“But they hate me. Why would they care if I came down for dinner or not?”

“They pretend they don't care but they will do anything to prove themselves wrong about their assumptions. Nobody wants you to be a spy but we're wary. So many things have transpired over the course of this war. But then, we've needed a Luna for a very long time so everyone will behave. Besides, your mates will be there as well. Nothing could ever go wrong” she said with a wink as the elevator opened to the first floor.

“Okay, I'll come. Thank you” I smiled in gratitude. What were the chances I'd run into her? Some higher power must have been watching over me on this perilous path I was on.

I saw Axel standing with some men at the lobby so I waved at him.

“Bye Luna, see you tomorrow” Juno waved, running off to a man that stood down the hallway, waiting for her.

Their display of affection made me smile, love was beautiful when it is real and unashamed.

“Hey Princess. You look tired. Come on, Let's take you home” Axel called, drawing my attention to him again.

He had sent the men off and was waiting for me as I admired Juno and her mate's affectionate display.

He looked edible in his work clothes, the suit was made to perfection and then I noticed a little tattoo on his neck. I didn't know it could fit anyone that well, damn it. My pussy was moistening at the sight of this and I wanted to run my fingers all over it. But then I remembered that it wasn't there yesterday.

But before I could ask him when he got a new tattoo, he saw mine first.

“What is that on your neck? Who marked you?” He asked, grabbing me roughly and examining the mark. I gasped in pain, making him realize what he had done.

“I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do that.” He apologized, touching his forehead.

When he opened his eyes, they had changed colors. Golden irises stared back at me in anger.

“ I'll gut my brother for this. We all agreed there would be no markings until you choose one of us. Why did you allow him? You couldn't control yourself for just one night? I know you aren't used to seeing handsome men but, come on! You shouldn't acted like such a slut!’ he sneered at me, his vile words making me wince.

Then I slapped him.
