The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 151: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE
"Let them in,” Ares commanded, his hands coming around my shoulder. It was like he was making a silent claim and I didn't even mind it. I couldn't find the anger I was supposed to feel, only a heavy sense of disappointment.
The links to the entire pack began connecting to my mind one after the other and I could see the renewed strength wash over them and the shocked expressions on their faces.
But Kane was a different story entirely.
He shifted in front of the entire pack and thankfully, someone handed him a pair of shorts immediately
“Hey baby,” he greeted, coming at me with open arms.
I took two steps back, my face showing indignation. How dare he act like nothing happened?
“I'm not a baby, Kane. Why are you here?”
“Come on darling, we're in the middle of war. It's not the best time to be fighting,”
“Fighting? Who's fighting?” I asked, turning around to my Ares and the guards at our back and they all shrugged as well. “No one's fighting Kane, just state your intentions and we can put all of this aside,”
“Yeah, and don't go calling another Alpha's mate, ‘baby!” Ares growled, his face contorted in anger.
“Another Alpha? She's ours! The three of us, when did that change?”
“Wait, you're really going to feign ignorance? You think this was like the time you nearly got us killed by kidnapping all of us and handing us off to a dragon that wanted me dead?”
“But it wasn't my fault!”
“It never is! You're just selfish and everyone should just accept that and move on. Newsflash Alpha Kane, the world doesn't revolve around you and we're about to go and literally save the world so if you're not here to contribute to that then please, kindly FUCK OFF!” I screamed, my voice echoing in waves.
I realized that Ares' arm was no longer on my shoulder and I turned around to look at him and realized I was actually in flames, my clothes still intact.
“Well, at least our enemies are gonna get fried to smithereens tonight,” Axel jokes, making everyone laugh. Well, everyone except Kane who stared at me like a deer in headlights
“You… you look.. different,” he nearly whispered.
“Yes Kane. While you were fucking someone else, I was getting thrown into the Blue Lake river and shoved back into limbo. Remember that place I said I didn't want to ever go to again? Yea, right there but guess what? I killed the god of Limbo and now I have his powers which we're going to use to defeat my foster mother who's actually not my foster mother but a creature from the pits of Tartarus so are you going to put your needs aside for once so we can get that done?” I finished, breathing heavily.
“Yea.. Yea, sure. Let's do that. I brought half of the pack but I'll make a call for the rest to join us,”
“Awesome!” I snapped and turned around and walked back to the pack armory.
“What's up, you look pissed,” Elena commented immediately she saw me.
“It's Kane. Can you imagine he's acting like nothing happened?”
“I'd give up on him if I were you,”
“Oh goddess, Zelda! I'm so sorry you had to go through all that,” I apologized profusely, hugging her frail figure.
“It's alright, I kind of expected it. Would have said I warned ya but then, there's a silver lining there isn't it?” She replied with a smile.
I flexed my new powers by reaching into empty space and pulling out the bottle of water I'd gotten for Elena earlier.
“Absolutely amazing,” I replied and we laughed, the peaceful atmosphere lifting our spirits.
“We're almost done here, you don't have to babysit us, okay?” Elena said as she did what she'd probably been doing since she found out we were going to war out of the blues.
“I'm not leaving until I confirm that you're sound asleep in that safe house. I don't trust you,”
“Wait, I'm not going with you guys?”
“You're nearly exhausted, Elena,” Zelda said, confirming my fears.
“I've been burnt out before and trust me, you do not want that so please, leave these last ones for Zelda, you need to rest,”
“I'm just anxious, Aury. I just met him, we haven't even had a full moment to ourselves and now,”
I was confused for a moment before I realized she was talking about Chris.
I hugged her immediately while she sobbed on my shoulder.
“I'll make sure he returns to you in one piece, okay?”
“You promise?”
I nodded, cleaning her tears as well.
“Now let's get you in that safe house, pronto okay?”
We went to her room and packed a bag and all the while, she kept trying to make protection chants all over my form.
“Elena, if you exhaust yourself, I'm going to make sure you rest for six months straight up,”
“Ugh! I'll just feel better if I know you're definitely going to come back no matter what happens!” She whines.
“Don't worry, I mean, what could happen? I'm a goddess, I have three dragons that are in love with me, two and a half mates and a full ass army with me. I'm cool, okay? Just make sure you don't go stressing yourself in there, okay?”
“Fine Mom,”
I pinched her cheeks, making her laugh a little.
“I've called Chris over and I want him to give you the pack connection. I'll feel better knowing they'll protect you as much as you'll protect them,”
“Thank you so much Aurora,” I nodded dismissively, “No, you don't get it. Before I met you, I was lost, my life had no meaning but these last few months, you not only gave me purpose but now I have a whole community of people who I can be a part of,”
“Elly you're gonna make me cry, and hey, you are freaking awesome so I didn't really have much of a choice,” I replied, hugging her tightly.
“Luna, do you plan to squeeze my mate into nothingness?” Chris joked from my back and I smacked his head jokingly
“I'll leave you guys to it but hurry up, okay? We leave in a few minutes,”
“Of course,”
I walked back to the front where everyone had already strapped up and was ready to move. Well, minus my mates who were running around, making sure everything was set.
I checked in mentally with everyone that needed to be in the safe house before going to meet them.
They were about addressing everyone.
“Hey baby,” Axel said, putting a kiss on my forehead while I melted into his frame.
I saw Kane roll his eyes but I ignored him. I was already regretting letting him come with, the pack were even being antsy with me and there was an obvious divide between the two packs.
I'll have to speak to everyone after Ares is done with them because I didn't need the internal conflicts showing up in the middle of the damn war.
Ares cleared his throat and gradually, the noise dwindled to absolute silence.
“NightShade!” A loud howl rocked the skies in response. “DarkMoon!” The response was smaller at first. I guess he didn't expect them to include them.
I might not need to address them after all because as he riled the army up, he didn't allow that division to stand and by the time he was done, everyone was charged up, regardless of whatever faction they belonged to.
“Tonight, we take back everything!” He roared and the resounding response that greeted him could probably be heard from the next pack.
With that, we began to run towards the abode of our enemies.
As I rode on Axel's wolf, the wind in my hair, I made a silent prayer for all the gods that I belonged with to help us win this war.
