The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 97: CHAPTER NINETY-SEVEN

I hadn't known that this cabin had so many parts when I walked into it but while running from my pursuers, I'd inadvertently gotten lost.

I'd finally seen a door that looked like it led outside and I ran towards it as they pursued me, their intentions unclear.

I opened the curtain separating the rooms and ran into the other part but to my dismay, it was only a storage room and the light I had seen was from a window.

Putting it clearly, I was stuck with no other means of escape. I had no idea what to do and I wasn't talking enough to reach the window.

I quickly reopened my connection to my dragon, hoping she was close by.

“Lyra!” I screamed in full panic mode. I was scared and I know how ridiculous that was considering I'd recently defeated an army of wolves but I didn't think these people could be killed by fire seeing as they were just like me.

Lyra wasn't responding.

They finally closed in on me, a sly smirk on their faces.

“Tired of running, Princess?” The dude with a scarred face asked me in a taunting manner.

“Please, I don't know what I did. I'm sure there's a way to settle whatever the issue is, okay? There's no need for all of this,” I tried reasoning with them but it only made them snicker derisively at me.

“Fellas, I don't think the princess knows who we are. Shall we remedy that?” the tallest of them said as they crowded into the small room, making me scared.

“Naa, let her find out when we plunge several needles into her delicate skin as she proves her usefulness. Tiger, get her!” The man that had been standing at the entrance, their leader I presume, ordered them and by his words, I finally understood a little bit of what was going on.

“Look, you don't want to do this, okay? I have a dragon that is connected to me, she'll find me wherever you take me to and she won't be nice when killing you guys,” I threatened, hoping this nightmare would come to an end.

Curse me for always falling into Terrible situations like this.

Their leader walked in and leaned closer, his gaze piercing through my skull as he glared at me

“Your threats are useless, girl. We have the best witches on our payroll and once we escape this run down cave of a kingdom, you are as good as lost to the world. No one would ever find you, so suck it up and follow us on your own or my men here will treat you like a riffraff, Princess!” He growled at me angrily.

But this made me switch from fear to anger. If they weren't related to dragons, then fire should be able to do some sort of damage.

“No!”

They laughed at my defiance but I was gathering up enough energy to unleash at them.

“Tiger, she's not too much for you, is she?” Their leader taunted his fellow blood poacher.

“Of course not, Boss Ryker,” he replied and dived at me, grabbing my waist and hoisting me up on his shoulder.

I didn't react.

“Good girl, now let's go quickly,” Ryker commanded and they began running towards an exit I hadn't noticed earlier through the opposite direction of where I'd run to.

But I had already charged up enough energy for what I had in mind.

“Tiger!” The guy with a burnt face screamed but I paid them no mind. By the time they realized what was happening, I'd heated up their friend and he was turned into melting lava.

“What did you do to him, you witch?!” Ryker screamed, echoing their shocked faces.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you. I kind of burst into flames once in a while, so who's next?” I said, smiling in a way one might consider crazy but I didn't care.

I was done with people having to save me all the time and I was going to become their fucking nightmare.

“Guys, let's get out of here. This one's not worth it,” burnt-faced guy said as he began running towards the entrance.

Meanwhile, the bar had started burning from the lava I melted Tiger into but I didn't feel hot at all. In fact, as the flames licked at my heels, I loved the euphoria it brought

“Boss Ryker!” They screamed for him but he couldn't move, too shocked by the powers I displayed.

I looked at the two of them, a slow smirk climbing up my face gradually.

“You can escape for now, but he's not going anywhere so you either run or die with him,” I told them as I began to light up the place where he stood.

I didn't care that the structure was falling apart, I just wanted to punish someone, a way to free this anger in me.

The two of them looked at each and ran away without another word.

Meanwhile, Ryker looked at me like he'd seen a ghost for quite some time while the fire gradually spread from the spot I was on and inches closer to his side.

When he got back to his senses, he was already burning.

He looked around himself and couldn't hold back the tears caused by the pain. I could have killed him immediately but I didn't want to. I wanted him to suffer for all the evil plans he had in mind for me and for the people he had succeeded in destroying their lives for his greed.

“Please, I can't endure it anymore. Kill me please!” He begged me but I needed more information from him and had no plans of killing him here.

A little bit of torture perhaps.

“You want to die?” I asked him with a cold smile on my face, reaching out to hold his cheek which burned at my touch.

“Please!!” He begged while trying to remove his face from my hand but failed, his arms flailing in pain as I regulated the fire, a trick I learnt from Scarlett.

So he was burning, and the rancid smell was disturbing but it didn't hurt enough to kill him too fast.

I walked out of the cabin which was already crumbling as I finally found a way out of it

People had gathered around and I saw the other two blood poachers tied up and held down by a few guards.

I must have looked terrifying as the looks of the people gathered was a mixture of awe and fear, one I distilled with a smile.

“Hi guys! A little kidnap attempt and all, nothing to be scared of. Their leader is in there, do you want him dead or alive?” I asked the onlooking crowd.

“Kill him,” a voice spoke and I looked around for it. It was Tacha.

I had my suspicions but this confirmed it.

So I shook my head.

“Naa. I think he has quite a couple of things to tell us before that happens, right?” I asked, looking her in the eye.

“Yes Princess! Let's bring him out for questioning!” I heard from the now active crowd.

I gestured for them to go get the man and a couple strong looking chads ran up the creaky stairs and I walked down as well.

They brought him out and I could see that he was still breathing.

“Take him to the healer, we'll begin the questioning tomorrow morning,” I commanded and I walked over to Tacha who leaked shaken.

“Hey, time to go back,” I told her and she nodded enthusiastically.

“Sorry about that, Princess. I should have come with some guards,”

“It's okay. Does that happen a lot?”

“No. Our borders have the highest form of protection and everyone knows not to let any strangers in as that would put us all at risk. I mean, blood poachers are the most terrifying lot and yet someone did that? It needs to be thoroughly investigated,” a familiar face said as she joined us.

“You're right. Whoever did that must have been targeting me and didn't care about the consequences,” I replied.

“I hope they get caught and punished properly. This must not happen again. By the way, Princess, you were such a badass! I mean, we've lost the only fun spot in our small kingdom but we'll build another one,”

“I'm sorry about that, I was just scared of getting drugged or something. That's not the first time I was kidnapped, well this time I have a way to protect myself so I didn't think to hesitate at all,”

“And that's smart. I didn't get the chance to introduce myself earlier while we danced. I'm Ravena and I'm in charge of your training,”

“Oh really?” I asked excitedly, finally remembering why her face was familiar.

“Yes, I was supposed to come meet you at your pack after Her highness dismissed Flynn but then Lyra flew in with you half conscious on her talons and away flew that dream. When can we start?”

“Oh, I'm going back to my pack soon. I can't stay away from my mates so get your bags packed, once I speak to my parents, we'll be on our way,” I informed her right as we got into the mansion.

As we walked in, I noticed a small crowd gathered at the front, my estranged parents in the middle of it, probably waiting for me I guess.
