The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 49: CHAPTER FORTY-NINE
I bent forward slightly, to avoid alerting anybody of my state of strength, just so I could hear the conversation clearly.
“And I said I'm on my way! If you don't have anything useful to contribute to my morning, then fuck off my phone!” I've never heard Juno raise her voice before and this version of her only made me pity Christopher.
He has relinquished his Beta position, unable to recognize his own mate or how much she had given herself wholly to revenge. He couldn't imagine who he had been living with and to make it worse, she was responsible for the attack on our pack. His father nearly died in it and I guess it was too much for him. He has been unable to speak to anyone after everything. Ares assigned a few wolves to ensure he doesn't jump off a cliff or something.
“Um, Ma'am, something has happened. Someone killed George and Everett. He ran away with the lady and Gary. The rest of you chased after him and the rest of us kind of, um, ran away Ma'am. I'm calling from a few minutes away from the hotel” the human gushed out like he had hot coal in his mouth.
“You can not be serious, you stupid geek. What do you mean by” she lowered her voice, “what do you mean by she escaped? George is one of the strongest hunters, how could he be killed like that?”
“I just called to tell you Ma'am. She was rescued though, not escaped. I was hoping I could still get my part of the money, I've put my life on the line for you Ma'am and…” she cut the call and took a deep breath.
“Trent, turn that way” she commanded and I knew I had to act now.
We had planned to track the van and follow it all the way with different squads of seasoned warrior wolves following up.
We were quite aware of the threat of traitors in our midst so we gave different information to different squads and the moment we figured out which squad tattletales, we could narrow down our search. I could have used brutal force to expose them but I don't like my pack seeing that part of me. Wolves were bloody creatures but even they had a limit.
I ripped the ropes off my body and quickly sent a message on the mic to my twin.
“Ares, all bets are off. She's not with them anymore so send only the trusted and vetted men among you to my direction.” and I began dodging wolfsbane infused bullets while cutting open hearts and killing them with no mercy.
I have a sweet exterior, I always had it right from when I was a little boy and no matter how hard the world tried to take it away from me, I always maintained that feature but inside? I was a monster.
And I'm not talking about my wolf. He on his own is too much for a lot of people when we both decide to take someone out, they are as good as dead.
I killed all five men in a quick minute and only got grazed with a bullet in my arm. I'll look into it later, I didn't have time to focus on little things.
“What's happening back there, Ben?” stupid Trent screamed, obviously too much of a coward to come check.
Ben was bleeding out on the back of the van and I positioned myself at the side of the connecting door, waiting for his chicken ass to gather up some courage and come check
“You are still sitting down? Get the fuck up and figure out what is happening there! If he escapes, Trent, I'll never let you live, bastard” Juno screamed at him.
So, it took his mistress screaming profanities at him before he finally got up to come check. Weakling. I could literally smell the fear rolling off him in waves as he gradually opened the door.
I was prepared to attack immediately but I realized he wasn't even looking at me.
“Ben?” He whispered as he walked into the back and then I realized why Ben had gone with his asinine plans.
They were mates.
I didn't blame Ben. Sometimes, I wondered how strong Chris must have been to have resisted joining his mates mad journey. The last few days have tested him and yet he stood strong.
I saw tears stroll down Trent's face as he saw how his actions led to the death of his mate.
While he was mourning his failure to himself and his mate, kicked him from the back, expecting him to fight me but instead of getting up like a man, at least to try and avenge his mate, he lay there and cried like a baby.
I wasn't a merciful man and I promised Trent he would beg for his death so he wasn't going to die so easily. I felt no ounce of pity for him. He would have killed my mate if I had not agreed to be debased for his wicked pleasure, tied up like a sacrificial lamb.
I went to the back and got the rope and tied him properly. There's no way he's getting out of that easily and as I turned, the van stopped.
I looked out and saw the squad I ordered for and they were facing off the men that had held my mate prisoner for days, making her suffer.
We felt every slap and hit they meted out to her and every time her stomach was empty and she was always sad.
These mutts were despicable and they were going to feel my wrath.
I shifted into my beast and jumped out of the van and attacked, tearing limbs and femurs.
