The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 156: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SIX

When my back hit those murky waters, a violent cough attacked me and I lost my train of thought for a few seconds.

I stood in the water, feeling weird things pass through my legs as I bent over, coughing and trying to clean my eyes.

The sun was gradually rising now and I could see my eyes. They were back to their hazel color and the part of me that thrived in violence was gradually receding.

“No,” I muttered out loud, trying to get active again but I didn't even know what made it come in the first place. The injury in my upper shoulder was right where my dragon mark was and it hurt so much, refusing to heal.

Before I could get my mind straightened as strange thoughts kept barraging it, I felt the skeletal fingers of Leticia curl around my neck and she lifted me off the ground with ease.

I was in pain but I couldn't even scream as her hold was tight and it constricted my throat.

“What will happen if I kill you right now, hm?” She wondered out loud and I could feel my mates trying to talk to me but my mind kept shutting them off on its own, “Will I take in all that essence that Benjamin Locke poured into your soul as he died brutally in your hands?”

‘Wait, how did she know about that?’ I wondered, the death of the Limbo god made me feel somehow.

I kept trying to remove her fingers from around my neck but they were stronger than I thought.

“I think I'll do just that. It's so easy snapping this little neck of yours as my venom makes you weaker with each second. I don't even know why Leticia was letting you live. Torturing you is boring, you're not even crying!”

Her words showed how I was dealing with a totally different creature and that virus in my mind told me how all of this was happening because I saved the life of my stupid, cheating mate.

As her fingers tightened around my neck, dark spots began to cloud vision and I kicked my legs into thin air.

Suddenly I heard a clanking sound and I was thrown into that horrible water again.

I couldn't help swallowing the terrible water, my coughing fits returning.

I looked around and saw Ares and Axel engaging the demon that replaced Leticia and they weren't doing much good but they were able to keep hitting her with swords. She was made of bones so I knew fire was the only way to kill her but seeing as I was probably drained by whatever she injected me with, my only hope was Lyra. Well, not really, our link was just poisoned so I guess there goes that hope too.

As I bent over to cough again, hopelessness warping my mind, someone grabbed my neck. I didn't even react, feeling lethargic.

“Quick! Drink this!” I heard a female voice and she poured a liquid down my throat and I swallowed without thinking; I couldn't because my mind was foggy and unclear.

After pouring the liquid down my throat, the person disappeared from my side, leaving me alone in the midst of the battle around me and a weird taste in my mouth.

Like a miracle, I felt my new personality crawling back slowly over me and I couldn't believe I'd be this excited to have her back. I wasn't going to treat it like an alien anymore, no, she was me and I was her now. The old Aurora got hurt by everyone emotionally and physically, but this one was stronger and needed to rescue her mates from that damned skeletal demon before she succeeded in poisoning them as well.

“Hey! Over here!” I screamed in her direction, my voice powerful and the reflection of my eyes shining over the water as I rose above the chaos.

The fog in my mind was clearing and I breathed a fresher and warm air, my body healing fast.

She didn't need my call, instead, finally catching up with Axel and I could feel her poison spreading through him even though our life force wasn't connected anymore.

The rage inside of me that I'd kept under control burst open, a raging fire pouring out of my fingers straight to her skeletal head.

Now that I think about it, I'm grateful to Flynn for teaching me how to aim my fire or I would have killed everyone in that vicinity.

“That's my girl!” I heard Lyra's praise in my mind as she flew closer to the field with an army of dragons but I didn't focus on that at the moment, my emotions frayed and terrified. If anything happened to Axel, I'd never be able to forgive myself, goddess or not.

“Ares! Take him away from there!” I commanded Ares and he quickly grabbed his twin from the burning goddess. She had let go of him as she shrieked in pain from the onslaught of the fire.

I saw Zelda feeding Axel a bottle of water and it occurred to me she was the one that had rescued me from whatever the demon did to me. Calling her Leticia seemed incorrect now and as I watched her regenerate, her skeletal form longer, almost reaching where I flew, the term demon fit perfectly.

With the dragons coming in, the war on the ground was rounding up quite quickly, they were literally picking people off the ground and chewing them. I know I would have found that repulsive but I had bigger fish to fry before thinking about what happened to my feelings.

When Lyra finally saw me, she flew over to me. I was getting irritated with the demon as she kept growing taller and I kept firing at her but each part grew back before I could do major damage.

“Climb on,” Lyra said and I did immediately, finally enjoying the feeling of flying on my dragon. I guess that's what was always missing.

“Guys, please retreat! The dragons will take over!” I screamed in the mindlink, knowing both parks would hear me.

The response was quick, the water was reducing considerably now and I knew it'll be easier for them.

Solving that problem, I focused on the monster that was pulsating in front of me, red eyes and a dark energy surrounding her
