The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 157: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SEVEN
“She's not going to die easily now, is she?” I grumbled to Lyra.
“No, we are just burning it's bones, the power source is what we need to destroy,”
“Great, who knows where that is. It's a literal sack of bones,”
“Not entirely,” she said as we flew around, both of us releasing torrents of fire on the undying demon. If this was a normal supernatural, they'd be ashes by now but this one kept reinventing itself and it pissed me off.
“There!” I exclaimed, finally seeing where her power was coming from. “Of course it was in her heart where she had all the spikes in the world to protect herself. What are we going to do? Any attempt to get close to it will just release torrents of that poison into us,”
“Lets try focusing the fire in that general direction, maybe it'll burn it,” Lyra suggested and we did that.
Hers was pouring all over the demon and I could tell it wasn't really that effective as her defenses only grew so I fired bolts of fire in her direction.
“Wait, how could I forget my newfound powers? You know what? I have a plan,” I informed my dragon and I flew off her in search of the spiky irons that were used to build that contraption to hurt Tharros.
I'd burnt the entire thing as it was made of wood but the spear was there, embedded into the murky ground. Thankfully, everywhere was already getting dry so it wasn't difficult to get it out.
“What's your plan?” Lyra asked as I climbed back on top of her, “Don't tell me you want to throw that at her,” she said, pausing from her attack.
“The last time I threw something in her direction, she caught it without blinking so I won't do that. I'll just teleport really close to her and sink this into the power house,”
“That's a smart plan but I feel really bad about it though,”
“What could go wrong? If she injects me again, Zelda will just give me that miracle juice of hers again,”
“Just be careful. I'll try to distract her, okay? Go from the back and put as much strength as you can the first time; we might not get a second chance,”
“Maybe we should get Scar too?” I suggested.
“That's a great idea, they're almost done down there anyway. I don't know why your vampire army is coming when the war is almost over,”
“Oh, that's because we didn't inform them earlier but I'm glad they came,”
“Get that iron as hot as possible. Remember, we have one shot at this. Once she realizes we're going for her power source, I think she'll get erratic and more protective of it and it's gonna be more than a few spikes. Also, remember to teleport close enough but don't ram into them since she'll be moving around,”
I nodded and began heating the iron till it was red hot, my blood pumping, a mix of excitement and nerves.
I stood on top of Lyra, arms stretched to the back in preparation as the demon came at us angrily. She was really big now, her hands tearing people from the ground and throwing them far away to clear her path. She reminded me of Te Fiti in Moana before she got her heart back, a huge mammoth black demon with horns and ashy skin and bony structure.
“Are you sure about this?” Scarlett asked and I nodded.
“There's no other option. If she doesn't die, she's going to open portals in every pack, clan and coven and let in her minions to ravage our world. That's not gonna happen if I can help it,”
“Just be careful, okay?”
“Aww Scar, you care about me?”
“Shut up,” she growled and I laughed and left their side.
I flew over to a spot farther than she was while Lyra stayed on the opposite end. We wanted to confuse her so I could take advantage of it and do what we'd planned.
“Hey!” I screamed at her so she could see me and she took the bait and came for me
“When I get my hands on you!” She growled and if I wasn't stronger than before, I would be terrified.
“Lyra, now!”
My dragons didn't disappoint, she and Scarlett took a deep breath and unleashed a torrent of dragon fire on her head from the opposite direction and thankfully, she took the bait.
I watched as they butted heads, the demon reaching across to them and trying to pluck Scarlett from the sky but she was faster than Leticia's demon form and I knew I had to act immediately.
I teleported to her back, drew my hand to the back again and stabbed the only fleshy part of her.
My aim was perfect but I didn't get out quickly enough and she reared back, four of those stupid things plunging into my body, making me scream alongside the demon.
“Aurora!”
I didn't even know who was calling me as I fell backwards for the second time today, the sun hitting my closed eyelids.
Someone caught me before I hit the ground and I was still conscious but barely.
One of the spiky skeletons had hit close to my heart, two on both arms and I could feel pain in my stomach from where the last one was embedded.
“Is she down?” I asked, weak even in my own mind.
“Yes she is, you're so amazing and you need to stay alive, you hear me?”
“Why? My mission in this world is accomplished,”
“Because you need to actually live! You've spent the last one year fighting for a world that you didn't even know existed and you need to live so you can enjoy it, okay? Besides, who's gonna call me Scar?”
I smiled at that, her motherly instincts finally coming out.
“Zelda!” I heard Ares call as I was dropped in his arms. “The potion, now!”
“It's finished, I have to get back to my coven to get a new one,” she said, sorrow in her voice. “I didn't know we would be dealing with this and I thought I even brought too much,”
“No, no no no, you can't do this to me, okay? Scarlett, please carry the two of them, I'll follow with Lyra,” he commanded but I could hear the panic in his tone.
He knew I'd be dead before we got there. It's crazy how many times I'd come close to death and come back to life. Maybe it'll be the same again but then, this wasn't an ordinary situation.
“I didn't know gods and goddesses could die so easily,” I said as I felt myself fading.
“You're not gonna die, I'll make sure of it,” he cried, putting pressure on my wounds as I bled out.
“Alpha, there might be another way but I can't guarantee it'll work,” Zelda spoke up.
“Speak up Zelda, what is it?” He demanded impatiently.
“To become a goddess completely, she needs to lose her humanity. Her blood needs to be drained while she still breathes. In exchange for the red, she'll get golden blood,”
