The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 127: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SEVEN
Several days later, Ares was still not healing and Axel was down with a high fever. Their mom was worried to death and I felt so bad for her. Her two sons were lying down sick and no obvious cure in sight.
“Any difference?” I asked a sweaty Elena who had been sleeping in the clinic to monitor his health.
They had chased me off to go shower and sleep on a proper bed last night but I had to come rushing down this morning after the terrible nightmare I'd had.
“His fever broke in the middle of the night but I still have to watch him. I and Fang successfully extracted the poison from Axel but Ares' is a lot more. I hope he doesn't fall into a coma,” she explained.
The door opened behind me and I looked at an angry looking Christopher.
“I just wonder why our Alphas are suddenly unable to heal properly after you brought this strange witch here. Why not allow our trusted Wizard over here to heal them?” he snapped, pissing me off.
I was about to give him a piece of my mind but Fang beat me to it.
“She's the most powerful witch I've come across, Beta Chris. Without her here, they would have been dead by now,”
“The pack needs you to be a little bit stronger than this, Christopher. If you're not aware yet, there are strange forces at play here and we don't need an internal crisis. We've got to keep the ship afloat until they get back up so please go back to your office, I'll be there in an hour,” I said to him.
“Alright Luna. I just hope y'all know what you're doing,”
“Yes, we do. Take your ignorant self out of this room. Jeez,” Elena shouted at him. I guess she'd had enough of him.
The shocked expression on Chris's face was so satisfying and he quickly turned around and left, tail tucked.
I would have a proper conversation with him later, this was unusual.
“If we could even figure out what type of poison this is, we'll be able to find a solution faster but with this lack of appropriate information, we're at a loss,” Doctor Ben said.
"What can we do, Doctor Ben? Former Luna Margaret says the family witch won't be here for another two days and Scarlett isn't back with the healer. You're the only hope of keeping them alive and i just hope you're able to succeed in keeping them, especially, Ares awake till something breaks," I said sadly.
I had run out of tears at this point so all i could do was look at them and pray they get better soon.
“We'll just have to keep extracting it manually. I just hate how weak it makes me afterwards," she expressed and I could see the fatigue on her body.
"I hope you're not being too hard on yourself?" i asked, concerned.
"Yes but the earlier we get him out of the danger zone, the better,"
"Yes, but you have to be alive to do that. Fang, please ensure she takes rests. I'll send food for you and hopefully you don't send it back uneaten this time," I warned and she smiled.
"Fine Boss but hey, you're not allowed to spend your whole day here either, okay?” she replied.
"Alright, I'm off. I'll be back soon," I bade them goodbye and left the gloomy hospital room with my heart in my throat.
They had my heart and life in their hands and I was so scared of everything going to shit but I needed to keep the pack running and I knew it wasn't okay leaving everything to Chris.
I went to his office and he still had that 'i want the whole world to burn’ look on his face.
“Are you going to tell me what's actually happening or you love how we keep clashing over Elena?” I asked
“I can't explain it, Luna. She just gives me a weird feeling. My wolf has not done anything but hunt at night and fight when I need to since Juno did what she did but since she appeared, he's been driving me crazy and I fear he might be sensing something,” he explained to me.
I could see how tense and confused he looked but also, he looked like he hadn't slept in ages.
“Chris, when was the last time you slept properly?” I asked him gently.
“I've had to keep things steady while they are under the weather. Especially this building of a new pack situation. Finances are not my strong suit,” he replied, ruffling his hair in frustration.
“Thankfully, they're mine so get up, head upstairs and go to sleep. Don't come back here till five PM. That's a command,” I said to him, my voice firm.
“But Luna, are you sure? I can stay and help out a little bit more,” he said but I shook my head.
“You won't be useful to me until you're well rested so if you really want to help, go ahead and sleep, okay?” I told him and he agreed and left the office.
The entire office looked dreary, so I opened the curtains but it still made my mood unclear with the way everywhere was filled with paperwork so I packed up the files I needed to work on and went outside.
I'd done a good job of avoiding the pack, feeling the sting of their anger towards me. I'm a coward, I know, but having to deal with Axel and Ares being out of commission at the same time made me scared to have any encounter because I still had the temper of a dragon somewhere in me.
But I was done hiding and I was ready for them. If I had to beg, I would. They were my people and they had finally given me a purpose in life and I had neglected them for DarkMoon instead of carrying them along.
With this mindset, I went to the common area in the pack house and began working on the finances.
It was obvious why Chris was frustrated; they had everything jumbled up.
I was so focused on my job that I didn't notice that a small crowd had gathered at the big room and they stood awkwardly, staring at me.
I sat up, apprehensive and hoping this wasn't going to drive me to tears.
