The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 201: CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND ONE

“Oh,” I replied, my anger dissipating immediately and being replaced by shock.

“Yeah, Zeus needs to chill. If you were a threat, we'd all feel it and no one here is running for the hills at the sight of you,” Aphrodite replied.

“But there's just so much power radiating off of you. I can feel it,” the ride guy commented, his eyes waving over me, making goosebumps dance across my skin.

Ares growled again, his arms tightening around my waist.

“What is his job again?” I asked, pointing towards Thanatos, my eyes narrowed.

“He's the god of death,” Selene replied, taking her seat like she'd had a long day.

“Isn't that the job of Hades?”

“Why does everyone think that? He punishes the people you send to hell and I send people to you!” He explained angrily, “I just report back to him, that's all!”

“No wonder you have so many anger issues. You've got the worst part of this whole situation,” I chuckled and sat down with Ares holding me possessively. I leaned into his arms.

“You both look quite good together. Selene, how could you stand the thought of breaking them apart?” Hermes asked, a look of displeasure on his face.

“I didn't want to but you know how your father can be. There's no way he'll take it lying down that there's someone capable of being stronger than him,” Selene replied, and I pitied her.

She was pulled on both sides by people that she couldn't win.

“He's not wrong to be scared. Power like this can be useful but also quite destructive,” Thanatos said and everyone gave him a look.

But he was indifferent.

“Even if I felt another mate bond with another woman, I would break it. You can't give me heaven and then expect me to settle for anything else. That'll be a punishment to whoever is at the other end of the mate bond,” Ares said next to me, his words warming my heart.

“That was something else I took into consideration. My children are very important to me and I know what strings I pulled to get Aurora in the situation that I did. I didn't want to hurt someone else because I was obeying instructions that made no sense. I was actually shocked at why the fates allowed it. But when I saw you bleeding to death on the night you were changed, I finally understood. Your purpose was bigger than my intentions.”

“Those old crones. Always choosing the absolute worst way possible to get things done. Couldn't they have given her better parents at least?” Hermes grumbled.

“I don't even want to think about all of that. I'm far away from that life now and I'll love to focus on this one. Now, will you guys eat something or you're still upset that I was having a good morning with my mate?” 

I laughed at Thanatos' glowering expression, and everyone else joined in. If he wasn't so angry, we would have been friends. Unlike Ares, the god of war who gave me weird vibes with his kindness. It was obvious he wanted something else and I hoped no one would go after my mates while they were on earth because of this crap.

We spent the rest of the day together. I was given a run down on how the realm operated and what they did to keep eternity as entertaining as possible.

Before they left, Aphrodite invited me to a party she was hosting in her kingdom.

“Bring this hottie of yours, it'll be really freaky and you don't want to be left alone,” she chuckled as her Chariot flew into the air.

Selene came closer and took my hand in hers, a feeling of remorse washing over her features.

“I'm really sorry for everything that happened. I was in between the devil and the deep blue sea and I apologize for not choosing you after the sacrifices you'd made.” She explained. “We have convinced Zeus to leave you alone as the mate bond is unbreakable and I hope you find happiness in this realm since I was unable to give it to you while you were on earth,” she finished, a lone tear escaping her eyes.

Speechless, I hugged her to myself.

“Regardless of the outcome, I'm still grateful for the opportunity to be mated to them. They're the best gift of my existence and they're everything to me. I am happy we didn't resort to violence over it and I really hope we become friends.”

“I would love that, we all need one around here,” she said, hugging me one more time before leaving.

“You're my best friend now, okay?” Hermes said, poking my nose, making me laugh before disappearing, leaving the brooding god of death as he untied his horse.

“Kindly slow down on the souls you're sending, okay? I'm still recovering and my assistant is going crazy from the amount of work he's got on his hands,” I said to him and he paused to look at me.

“Your predecessor never had this kind of problem,” he replied sullenly. 

Over the course of the day, he'd begun to warm up to me and Ares but he still had that faraway look to him that showed he'd rather be collecting souls than chilling by my pool with a couple of people he didn't really like. I still don't get why he came on this trip with them.

“Well, that is because he kept a large amount of them as slaves and you all benefited from that. I'm not doing that anymore, you already have enough servants and if they are not taken care of, I'll pull them out. Remember, every soul in every realm except paradise and he'll have a direct link to me,” I warned.

“Don't give me that look, I'm not your problem. Tell that to those pompous fools on the mountain,” he said and mounted the black horse. Even its eyes were pure black, probably like his owner's soul. “See you around,” he said and the horse flapped its wings, flying into the air.

The view did something to my insides that I couldn't explain.

I ignored it and went back inside with Ares. While I was entertaining the guests, I'd instructed some servants to prepare a date night for us, to make up for the one I'd run away from on earth.

The rest of the week flew by with us fucking, going hunting in the forest nearby with Lyra and finding ways to make each other happy 

On the night he was leaving, I took my power pearl, the one he'd gotten for me at the beginning of our bond and I made a necklace out of it.

“It's imbued with a lot of power so if you see that giant again, this will remind them how powerful my fire is and they'll leave you alone,” I instructed, wearing it on him.

He kissed me for long and we would have rolled back into bed again but I knew he was needed back on earth, being King and all so I sent him away with a wave of my fingers.

I didn't let the emptiness linger, instead, I walked downstairs into the soul room to find Bez working.

“I'm finally ready, you can go take some rest, okay?” I said, taking over from him.
