The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 7: CHAPTER SEVEN

“KANE'S POV”

While leaving the school premises after checking up on the pups to ensure they were in good shape after the battle, I stumbled on my sister. It was important to get them help after experiencing such traumatic situations even though we were werewolves.

She was wearing her fighting gear, and the sweat on her brows showed she must have trained extra hard today. Everyone must have. The NightShade Pack took us by surprise and if not for the mate situation, we would have buried more than fifteen wolves. I didn't need to chastise anyone, we all collectively felt terrible.

“You know, you'd look a bit younger if you weren't frowning all the time” she said as she nudged me with her shoulder playfully.

“Hey Cee. How is my boy doing?” I responded to her, unable to return the enthusiasm.

“Ouch! What was that for?” I asked when she punched my arm

“My name is Cora, stop calling me Cee like you are in a spelling contest. Now what's got your face twisted like that? You are unusually ugly today”

“It's nothing to worry about. Now hurry up before your mate starts chopping more wood than you need. You know how he is in your absence” I replied playfully.

She laughed, the look in her eyes showing how much she loved him as well.

“Very funny Kane but you are not getting out of this that easily. I thought you were going to come talk to me by yourself but you wanted me to come drill you and here I am. It's my job to worry about you now, spill” she said, dragging me into the swinging chair at the back of their home.

Their house was one I always found peace in, her little boy a ray of sunshine. Whenever I got too burdened with my role as Alpha, I came here.

As usual, my sister was not going to let me solve my problems all by myself and I knew better than to keep denying her demands, so I poured out my heart.

"In the past three days, it felt like I had lost something I didn't even know I had. This small, beautiful and auburn haired girl waltzed into my life, put me in a state of chaos and then she ran back, leaving me confused and frustrated," I started, frustrated. Cora placed a comforting hand on my shoulder and I continued.

"I don't even understand why I missed her this much. I can attribute the pull in my chest to the mate bond but this is way more than it. I had driven my car all the way to town and turned around, remembering my pact with the twin Alphas to let her be until we settled this. Of all people to be paired to her with, it's those two dipshits," I growled out the last part, making Cora chuckle a bit.

“When did they say they'll be back? I doubt she will be waiting forever for you all to make a decision."

“They will be back in a week. I don't even know the point of it. We'd just be back to arguing all over again. We can't let her choose because she might choose none of us. She's new to all of this but the moment we teach her the rejection process, I don't think anybody will be accepted.”

My memories filled with thoughts of how I'd attacked her lips without even remembering how humans reacted to such level of intimacy made me feel like hitting myself in the head. I didn't stop there, I'd lashed out at her for something she clearly didn't understand and then, that blasted surprise attack happened right at the worst time ever. I knew she was definitely not going to pick me.

“Well, what if you all spend time with her individually and you get the chance to convince her to choose you?” She suggested.

And as I thought about it, a bright smile lit my face. I could correct my previous mistakes, I have more information about her than the others, I'll use that to my advantage. With my charm, I'll definitely have her marked before the time expires, and the thought made ny pants get tighter. I couldn't wait to feel her lips again, the little taste I got was heavenly

“Cora, you're a genius!” I pecked her cheek and ran off to my office.

Thoughts of things I could do to sway her to my side filled my mind as I walked into the big pack house.

I didn't notice at first but my Beta, Christopher was waiting for me in the lobby, and upon a closer look, he looked troubled.

“I turned off my link earlier, you know how Cora gets to me. What's up? You look tense” I say as I bring out my office keys. They always reminded me of my father and how powerful he was. This office made decisions that affected the werewolf world as a whole

“Alpha, remember you asked me to keep tabs on your mate?” He started, while shifting from one foot to the other. Weird, I thought. I was strong but my Beta was the only wolf in my pack I could actually train with. I beat him every time but he always put up a good fight.

Whatever's made him so jittery must be really bad.

And then it hit me; he mentioned my mate.

“What is wrong? What happened to her? She has 24/7 full security, what is the proble”

“Well, the thing is, we were protecting her from the outside world. You know, as the news has spread of your mating, she has become a target. We've been neutralizing threats for days now but we didn't take into account her parents. She came to work today and I noticed she was walking weirdly. When I got closer to her, I noticed print marks on her neck. We believe she's been hurt by her own father” he explained to me and my blood ran cold.

I've never felt the amount of rage that I felt at that moment and I couldn't help but shift and immediately took off in the direction of the town that was next to our pack. We had chosen here strategically so we could be humans and wolves without being spotted.

As I ran ferociously, I noticed my Beta chasing me and I remembered to turn on my mind link.

“Alpha, you can't go like this! I've already placed her in the hospital and she's receiving treatment. We need to take this slow, let's think of our next cause of action carefully please. You risk exposure going in like this. Also, what if he was paid to do this? It could be a trap!” He reasoned with me but I was too angry to listen.

He then increased his pace, jumping in front of my wolf.

“Alpha, please you need to calm down. I'm begging you as a brother, you will regret acting in such a haste so just change your trajectory. Run off the anger and let's act rationally instead” he shouted in my mind and this time, I heeded his warnings.

This was the major reason why he was my Beta. If it was anyone else, the impulse of my animal would have torn him to shreds.

I ran in full force for over three hours around my pack territory. Everyone could feel the anger radiation off of me.

There was nothing that pissed me off more than the cruelty of humans. If there were given an ounce of the power we had, who knew what they'd do with it? The girl was his daughter, what could have justified such insane maltreatment? My mind kept replaying scenarios of how he would have been hurting her over the years and no one noticed.

I finally got a hold of myself enough to go back to my office and immediately, I called the twin Alphas.

“You need to come immediately, she's been hurt” I said immediately the phone was answered.

“What do you mean she's been hurt? It's been barely three days since we left and you fail to protect her! Are your men so weak?” Ares roared into the receiver. One would be surprised at such a response from a man who had insisted he didn't want a mate.

“Calm your horses. This is no enemy attack. She's been hurt by her own father. My sister had a brilliant suggestion which will help our situation. We will give her the choice of who she wants” I started but Axel took the phone, cutting me off.

“We have gone through that option and it can't work! What if she rejects all of us? Especially now that our intrusion into her life is causing her pain!” He exclaimed, the pain in his voice plain and obvious.

“There's a catch and if you allow me finish, you'd get it. Now, she doesn't know any of us and she's definitely not used to the idea of werewolves but if we each get to spend time with her, individually, we can try to convince her. So whoever she likes more than the rest, will be her mate.” I finished.

Silence.

“Hello? Did you hear me?” I asked.

“Yes Alpha Kane. Well, it is indeed a good idea. We will be at your pack tomorrow to visit her at the hospital and then hash out the details.” Ares said and I cut the call.
