I was bewildered and shocked. She is my friend and the Beta female of the pack, she wouldn't want to hurt me.

Right?

“Juno? What is happening? Where are they taking us to?” I asked, a weird feeling in my head.

“Don't be stupid, please. You are simply collateral damage. Erling, she burns through that shit fast so keep her dozed up. I could literally hear her breathing pattern change all the way from there. Do your job properly or fuck off!” She shouted, showing me a side of her that I didn't even existed.

Before the guy could inject me, I struggled and screamed the question burning a hole in my mind.

“Why!?”

She paused and turned, giving me a weary look.

“Not like I owe you any explanation but your mates think they can take my happiness away and have theirs. I thought they would reject you and you will die but no, they all want to live in harmony while my sister rots in the ground! I refuse. We all must suffer and like I said, you are simply collateral damage. If you were sensible, you could have gone with Alpha Kane's plan. At least you'll be useful for something. Knock her out, Erling; I'm tired of her crap” she commanded the guard.

“Wait, wait! I can give you what you want. I just have to go back and convince them to reject me. It's not even going to be difficult. Just don't do this please.” I pleaded, hoping there was a little humanity in her.

She came towards me, an angry look in her face.

“When I met you in Uni, I always hated your guts. You weren't even consistent in class yet you were scaling through everything, probably sleeping with the lecturers to have a higher advantage.”

“I didn't! My father would have killed me if I came back with a less than stellar record and yet he wouldn't stop using me for cheap labor. I thought you liked me” I said.

“Of course you'd think that. Naive and stupid. Imagine my surprise when they brought you here, looking like a fucking bitch. You got the upper hand again. You get to be the Luna to two packs while my sister gets nothing. I won't allow it. Either you die, or one of those horrible mutts that call themselves Alpha will die and I have my eyes on one particular one.”

I went to speak more but she raised her hand, making me shut up to avoid aggravating her more

“Shut her mouth and her eyes as well. I'm tired of this crap” she grunted, walking back to the front of the van.

Despite my struggles, I was injected. I kept trying to summon my fire but when I needed it the most, it failed me.

Someone roughly removed the blindfold from my eyes and slapped me in a bid to wake me up but I've been awake for a while now.

I realized luck played a large role in people's lives because I had none of it.

I felt I was lucky to have ran into an old friend who was in a position to help my transition from human to supernatural but it turns out she's just a backstabbing bitch.

“Wake up, bitch!” Another man growled, and the dark room finally stopped spinning.

They lit a candle and I began to memorize their faces.

One had a long scar across his face and it made him quite ugly. His hair was cut short and his bulky frame didn't stop him from moving fast across the room getting… torture weapons together.

My mouth had been sealed shut so when the lanky, aged one came to tear it off, I noticed his scent. It was eerily familiar, I just couldn't place it.

“Now, we are going to allow the drugs in your system to wear off so you can send one message those mutts that own you” the man I assumed was their leader said, his rough face etching into my memory.

“When your superiors are talking, you respond!” Lanky shouted, slapping me again.

“Yes sir!” I replied tearfully

I tried as much as possible to ensure I didn't get too angry or emotional. It was one thing to be kidnapped because someone wanted to use you for revenge against someone else and another to find out you can fetch them a price huge enough for retirement.

So no matter how much they hit me, I simply endured, feeling and saying nothing. Father did worse than this so I could hear it.

Juno’s betrayal will never cease to amaze me. She would have been a great friend.

A ringing sound poured through my head and I bent over in pain.

“Shhhh!! Shut your trap!” Someone screamed in the background.

“Princess? Can you hear me?” I finally heard from Axel.

“How long do you think it'll take?” Their leader asked them.

“Give it another twenty minutes. She hasn't been marked more than a week so she doesn't know how to use the link.” Lanky responded.

I realized that they didn't know how fast I healed. I added that to the list of things they must not know about.

“Talk to us, Little Mate. We've been searching for you but your scent has been thrown off. We found Juno but she's disoriented and her mate has taken to heal” Kane spoke to me.

It hurt to hear their voice in my pounding head but I had to act like a dumb, little Doe to prevent them from finding out.

I mustered enough strength to relax my face so as to not show I was sending a message.

“It was Juno that led me to them!” I screamed into the link I had finally begun to see in my head and from the way the fourth man at the door winced, I realized I had sent this to the entire pack.

“Sir, she can send messages already. She just told everyone Juno did it” a traitor and a tattletale.

Shit.

They quickly knocked me out with a flat log of wood and my world went black.
