The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 78: CHAPTER SEVENTY-EIGHT

I felt the sunlight stream directly into my eyes, making me wake up with a yawn but something stopped me halfway.

I took a deep breath again before I quickly opened my eyes, looking at the ceiling.

Something was horribly wrong and I could feel it.

I made to get up but there were limbs all over my body and I didn't want to wake any of them up.

I doubt their busy lives ever afforded them the opportunity to sleep in until this time. They were always up and running before sunlight.

But the smell was tinkering with my senses and I hated not knowing what to do.

So I looked at the three of them, figuring who would be easier to rouse.

I decided to try Kane, after all, if anything was wrong, it'll be in his place to deal with it. I really hoped my instincts were lying but something was awfully wrong.

Before I could make the decision myself, someone banged on the door, making us all jump.

“Who is that and why can't you use the emergency link like a normal person?!” Kane shouted, making me cover my ear quickly.

“Sorry baby,” he quickly apologized, kissing my hair and then I saw when he noticed it as well. Something was off in the room and not just the idiot banging on the door.

“It's Flynn. You need to wake up ASAP, something is happening out here. Your entire pack is asleep and it's not looking normal! The witch senses something too!” He said, well, more like shouted because as I lay down, my ears were still buzzing from all the ruckus.

“Yea, something does feel or smell off. Axel, open your eyes,” Ares added.

“Wait, it's daytime already? I haven't had such good sleep in ages! Ew, what's that smell?”

“Well, we won't find out if everyone is lying down so up you get!” I snapped, my patience wearing thin.

“Feisty! I like it,” Axel chuckled as he finally got up and we all began doing the same.

“Holy Shit! Aurora, stay still!” Kane shouted and I froze in fear.

Immediately I looked around the room and then saw that their attention was on me, specifically my laps that were covered in a duvet so I looked down and I shrieked.

It was the head of a rabbit, freshly killed from the looks and a note sticking out of its mouth.

Boldly written in red were the words

“It's only a matter of time, kitten. I'll catch youuuu”

The letter u was splashed across the rest of the paper and I couldn't help the tears that flowed from my eyes.

Here I was thinking I'd gotten a break but my past had decided to rear its ugly head.

“Oh Selena the goddess! This is gory as fuck even for me. I've called someone to come clean it up. Ares please open the door for Flynn, I'll try to get this off her,” Kane said as he swung into action.

Axel came and carried me out of the duvet, and tried to calm me down but I was hysterical.

I had spent all my life in the shadow of that man and now he's threatening to take away the new found happiness I was doused in.

“Sorry love. We won't let anything happen to you okay? You've got three mates, he's the one that should be scared.” Axel says as he keeps patting my back while he sits on the sofa in the room.

Flynn enters but I pay him no mind.

“You know, this wasn't the first time he did this. When he found out I loved rabbits as a child, at every slightest opportunity, he'd kill one and drop its head somewhere in the house that I was bound to go to. He got a kick out of watching me react to it. First the shock and then the terrible guilt that I was responsible for this innocent animal dying for nothing. It was always obvious he tortured them before doing it just like he did with this one. I hate him! I hate him so much!!” I said, tears all over my face

“You know what? I don't think I can take the slow and steady route anymore. This traitor must be caught because how else did someone gain access into the pack and all the way up here to drop this?!” Kane barked, frustration lacing his tone.

“Since you changed the routine, shouldn't it be easy to figure out who did it now?” Axel asked and someone got in, and began clearing the mess.

“I was about to do that last night when our mate went into heat. I lost focus and told them to revert back to normal since there had been no incident since the last time. So there's no other option. I'll use the Alpha command and then travel with a car instead of running. By the time I get there, I should be healed enough.” Kane responded and a pang of guilt hit me.

“I'm so sorry, this is all my fault!” I sobbed, burying my head in his chest.

“Shhh. Stop that. Why are you blaming yourself? None of this is your fault. You got the worst foster parents of the century and I blame whoever was responsible for handing you over to them if they are still alive and you going into heat was bound to happen at any time so none of this, any of it was your fault, alright?” Ares said, coming closer to me.

“Wait, her foster parents did this? How is that possible? They were very good witches and were supposed to hide her in the human world,” Flynn spoke up and we all turned to him.

“Wait, you know something about this?” Axel asked, speaking everyone’s mind

“Speak up man, they did real damage and not in any way you could have imagined. Maybe you can help us find him!” Kane demanded, his tone harsher. I knew he felt more pressured because this was happening on his land.

In times like this, I wished we were all in one pack instead of two.

“Look, it's a long story but the two witches we handed you over probably got caught or something and decided to hand you over to whoever this is. We cut ties with them to avoid you being traced to us in any way,”

“How come you found me?” I asked a question I'd been asking since I was kidnapped and he rescued me but he'd been tight lipped about it. I knew he wouldn't do that right now, not when everyone was tense. He might be immensely powerful but three angry Alpha werewolves didn't seem like a great opponent.

“It's in the atmosphere, Aurora. Our world and theirs aren't the same. The moment you stepped into this pack, we all felt it and I had to come guard you before someone else did. There's a massive hunt for you, which is why I'm insistent on you being able to defend yourself. Finding out you have three mates is the only reason I haven't taken you back to Arkonos, I thought they could defend you,”

“And we can! But with you keeping so much information from us, how are we to do that effectively? She's been out and about witho6aby serious security and my lack filled with traitors meanwhile, someone or some people are out to get her. Simply welding fire won't be able to save her!” Kane snapped at Flynn and I quickly rushed to him before this got violent.

“Look, I doubt I'm worth all of this okay, let's all calm down please,” I said and I actually agree with Bez. I'm too insignificant for all of this, regardless of who my actual birth parents are.

Kane grabbed my face in a tender way and wiped that thought away from my mind.

“Honey, don't ever say or think that again. You are special, you are important and you are worth the heads of a thousand men who dare go against you!” He growled and he hugged me, while panting and sniffing my hair.

I let him because I learnt that it helped them calm down regardless of how much I needed air.

“So are we going to address the elephant in the room or not?” Axel said and we all turned to him.

“What elephant? Please go straight to the point, brother,” says Ares.

“Well, isn't it obvious? You all are slow. Fine, I'll ask. Who are her parents? We've been analyzing her blood and running tests and checking books. We feel like we know, then one moment we find out we don't even know anything. The girl can talk to animals for Selena's sake so please, do tell!” he poured out and the room went silent.

“He asked a question, why aren't you answering it?” Kane shouted, irritation written all over his face. He must hate Flynn and I don't even know why. Well, a little bit but still, this was a bit much.

“Look, it's not as easy as it looks. I can't just tell you. We are hiding it for a reason. The girl must find her destiny without knowing to avoid unnecessary attention. Her parents know it's the only way to keep her safe!” Flynn grated, his posture stiff.

“Wait, my parents are alive? And they don't want to see me? On purpose?” I choked out, my throat closing due to the tears and pain these thoughts brought up.

Not only was I unwanted by my foster parents, even my own parents hated me. What then was the point of life? I should have let that god send me to hell because this was worse.

“Of course they want to see you! They are following a vision, okay? It's important to follow it to the letter to avoid disaster. If you find out and then become some pompous brat, everything we've worked for for centuries will fall apart!” He vented, his fingers raking through his hair.

“Flynn?” Ares said, getting up and shifting his face from neutral to something that probably inspired the phrase, “if looks could kill” and he went to him, the height difference quite laughable.

“Yes Aloha Ares," he answered in an intimidating time which shocked me.

I'd never seen him so shaken by anything. He killed those wolves that kidnapped me like twigs. Well, I guess the gun helped a lot but still, this was Flynn we were talking about. He's strong.

“Who are my mate's parents?” Ares asked, his tone leaving absolutely no room for nonsense.

Flynn took a deep breath and finally yelled.

“She is the only daughter of Galen and Sophia Arkonos, the crowned imperial rulers of Arkonos, the hidden dragon Kingdom.”
