The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 196: CHAPTER HUNDRED AND NINETY-SIX

“That was fucking brave!” Hermes gushed as I stepped out of the mansion.

“I had enough, honestly. If they think I'm such a threat, isn't it in their best interest to treat me well? Instead, everyone is trying to treat me like I'm not good enough to even have an opinion,” I grumbled, strutting towards my chariot.

“But how does the mate bond actually feel? It must be a lot for it to be the reason you finally snapped.”

“You might not know you've been missing anything in your life until you find it. Then you'll do anything to keep it because without it, you are empty.”

I got in and waved to him as Darius took me home.

My mood was sad, not just because of the night but my fading mate bond.

I loved my mates, even without the bond, but I always loved how it connected us across every barrier in the world.

“It's probably being in two different realms that is stretching it. You'll be back to your normal self once one of them comes here,” Lyra reassured me as I twiddled my thumbs.

Each of the realms took something from me and I hated how incomplete I felt.

Earth wanted to drain every single drop of my golden blood and Mount Olympus was after my emotions, gradually turning me into a stoic person. Maybe that was why these gods were acting like grade a as*sholes.

When the chariot stopped in front of the house I was staying at, I got down with shaky breaths. There was a chill in the air and I had no idea why. The concept of cold has always been lost to me so this made me feel weird.

Darius appeared at my side and I pulled off the shoes and handed them over to him. I'd been so in my head that I didn't realize how much it was digging into my skin. Walking felt like needles were making out with my feet.

“You really outshone everyone. I'm proud of you,” a voice said from the stairs and I raised my voice to find the most ethereal beauty I've ever seen. She was slender, she wore a white, flowy gown with a golden sash across her shoulders. Her jewelry was sparkling in the bright moon light and she had small makeup on her face. I then understood why the servants spent so much time on my looks, I had a lot to compete against.

“Hello?” I greeted her awkwardly, sure my staring hadn't gone unnoticed.

And why was she proud of me?

“I'm Selene.” I frowned immediately. I'd seen Selene, the moon goddess on the night of my change and she didn't look like that. “The face I appeared to you with on the other night is the one I use for humans.” She replied with a smile. “If they saw my true self, I'll definitely get shrines built in my name and all of that. I don't want that.”

“Oh. That makes sense,” I replied, remembering how uncomfortable I used to make my pack Members even though they'd known me personally.

I walked into the house with her, my mind racing with different things.

Prominent among them all was her purpose for being here. I was still cross at her for using me as her pawn and not giving me the tools to win the war. I had to sacrifice my life and I couldn't enjoy the aftermath of everything with my mates. Instead, I was brought here for bored gods to play games with.

I just hoped she wasn't about to complicate my life further, it seemed that was what she loved doing.

I waved my hands and was back in my lounge wear, finally free of the godly apparel I'd been put in earlier so I could breathe freely.

“Darius, please get the moon goddess something to drink,” I commanded as I sat down on the couch opposite hers.

I'd expected to be tired by now but I was getting stronger with each second I spent here, faster than before so I was quite antsy. My mind was tired but my body was very energetic.

“Thank you Aurora,” she smiled, her eyes nearly shutting close by the action. “I have to discuss this with you since you're one of us and I hope you don't take it the wrong way.”

My heart race picked up. She was the first person to finally acknowledge my position as a goddess but it sounded like there was an ulterior motive.

“Sure, go ahead.”

“I’m just going to get straight to the point, okay?. So technically, you're dead and I want to give your mates second chance mates. Running an entire Kingdom, new and challenging as it is without a mate, is taking its toll on them and I don't want them to suffer. I'm sure you also don't want that for them so I've got a few people in mind and I'm sure you'll love who I've picked….” She kept rambling on but I was seeing red.

I stood up from the couch and walked to the back of it, trying to put as much distance between us because the anger inside of me was so potent I feared I'd do something I'll regret later.

“So not only did you mess with my life, put me through hell for over twenty years just so I could come repair the rift in the werewolf world so they'll prepare for the danger ahead. I'm not even upset about my role in the whole thing, but why did I have to go through all of that?!” I shouted at her, my fingers shaking from how angry I was. “Then you put me in the position to defeat them and you make no attempt to help at all, making me have to make great sacrifices, including nearly dying several times! And now that all is over, you come and insist I must return here, even though you could have just healed me and sent me back to live with them as half a goddess until we had to return here,” I was walking closer to her as I spoke now, my anger finally taking control of me. “So now that we're trying to figure out a way to be together despite your actions, you're trying to pull us apart?!” I screamed in her face.

“I'm just trying to help them, I –”

“Did they ask for your help? When have you ever answered their pleas for help? You have no right to take them away from me!”

“But that's what Zeus wants!” She finally snapped, her hands going to her in frustration as I stepped back,

trying to douse the fire that had begun leaking from my hands.
