The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 192: CHAPTER HUNDRED NINETY-TWO

A flurry of servants rushed out of the main entrance and behind them, an overly dressed man with a rotund belly.

I'd expected better. Zeus in the books was a perfect man with a womanizing problem but in real life, he looked like he was constantly drunk on wine and power.

“I knew you'd come!” He shouted which was quite unnecessary, I was a few feet away from him.

“Thank you for the invitation and I'm sorry about the delay. I had to take care of important business,” I explained, bowing my head as I spoke.

I guess he was expecting something else because he was at a loss for words for a second.

“You're here and that's what is important,” he said, putting an arm around my neck and leading me into his palace.

He turned around at the door.

“Servants, take care of her Dragon and make sure she's well fed,” he commanded and the door closed behind us.

It seemed he had walked out of an ongoing court session to welcome me as the throne room that we walked into was filled to the brim with different people.

There was a full orchestra by the side, gods say at the arena like hall talking among themselves.

Hades, who I'd come with simply vanished and I walked down the long path with an excited Zeus who was smiling like he'd gotten a huge price.

Hopefully, this ended quickly and I could take my dragon and fly out of here; I felt quite uncomfortable.

When we finally got to the end of the dais, he turned around and clapped, getting everyone's attention.

“Ladies and Gentlemen!” He bellowed, his voice reaching every corner of the room, “welcome among our ranks, god killer Aurora!” He shouted and my mouth dried up.

The audience shouted and cheered at me and I forced a smile on my face but deep down I was terrified. Following Lyra's train of thought, I realized how before now, the power to kill a god had been in the hand of artifacts or something material, not a living being and yet here I was, the only weapon that could kill them and they were clapping for me.

“Thank you for removing that nuisance from among our ranks, nobody liked him anyway,” a woman who I hadn't noticed earlier in the crowded hall said to me.

“It's nothing,” I replied with a smile, wishing for all of this to be over.

“It truly was nothing for you,” Zeus responded, the hall going quiet again. They seemed to have a dynamic where everyone kept shut while he spoke.

He really was the King of the gods and even though it might end my life, I was happy I'd listened to Lyra and come immediately. He wasn't the type that enjoyed defiance.

“Just on her way here, she killed one of the Artemis ruins triplets, as defense of course so in case you were doubting her abilities, here is a show of her sheer strength,” he announced and flicked his hands in the air, bringing up a screen that showed how I poured an avalanche of fire on the monster that had jumped towards us.

“I'm sorry, I didn't have a choice. He would have killed My dragon and I,” I said in the way of an explanation but it seemed no one was paying attention to me.

They were busy discussing what they'd just witnessed and I knew I was being set up.

I guess I'd offended Zeus because the next words out of his mouth were not in my favor at all.

“It is a large feat however, because she had decided to ignore my invitation and went to earth, drained herself and got on a mortal dragon to come here. She did this with the very last dregs of power in her. Now imagine what she can do when she's really strong,”

The room became eerily silent.

“I.. I..” I stuttered, taking a step backwards but I was literally backing up to the back of his throne.

“Do you have plans to kill us, Aurora?”

“Of course not! I didn't ask for any of this!” I exclaimed, fear wrapping its ugly hands around my throat.

This bastard had literally just offered me as a living sacrifice to these people. Telling everyone I was currently at my weakest point and how dangerous I could be when strong was the perfect recipe for disaster.

“But what if you change your mind, hm?” He asked, going to sit on his incredibly large throne. “Who knows what you humans are always thinking these days,”

“But I'm not a human and I don't have any problems with anyone who isn't trying to kill me!”

“So you're saying that if Zeus himself decides to kill you, you'll kill him instead and become our ruler?” The lady next to him asked me. I guessed she was Hera but she didn't look as angry as the books depicted her. I guess if you were photographed right after you caught your husband cheating, you'd also be seen as an angry woman.

“I would never do anything to make him want me dead. Immediately I could, I ran here even though it was a threat to my life. This is a show of trust, that in this new world I'd become a part of us where I've always belonged,” I said and then returned my attention to the audience of gods and goddesses. “Am I wrong in that assumption?”

“It doesn't matter. You're a threat and threats like you must be put out before you become dangerous!” Someone screamed from the crowd.

Zeus got back up and everywhere quieted down.

“You all need to calm down immediately!” He shouted at them. “Aurora is our honored guest and is a part of this kingdom so you must give her respect and help her in getting accustomed to her new role. Is that clear?” He screamed at them.

There was a collective nod of agreement among them, making me confused.

Didn't they want to kill me anymore? These people were bipolar. I hope I didn't become anything like them like Zelda had suggested.

Even if I got bored, I wouldn't play with people's lives like this.

“Servants, take the new goddess to her new house. Aurora, we'll see you at dinner by 8, okay?” He commanded, dismissing me with a wave of his hands.

‘What did he mean by new house?’ I wondered as I followed the servants he'd sent with me.

My body shook again from my frayed nerves.

I hope this dinner won't be my last.
