“Start from the beginning, okay?” I told her, sitting next to her on the black couch in our living room.

Before she could, Axel walked out of the room with some camera equipment.

“Babe, what's up?” He asked, confusion lacing his expression.

“You remember Cora,”

“Of course. I'm surprised she's here. Is there a problem with DarkMoon?”

“She was about to tell me more about it. Don't worry, I'll speak with you guys about it,”

“Alright love. See you girls later,”

Before he walked out, I remembered why I was looking for him in the first place.

“Baby can you make your lasagna for me? I just have a sudden craving for it,”

He smiled at me, “Okay, give me thirty minutes to drop this off and I'll do it. Is that okay?”

“Yess. Thank you,” I replied, smiling back at him before he left the house.

I focused back on Cora and she was quite close to tears.

“You are so happy without him. How? He's your soulmate!” she screamed, the accusatory tone right back fully this time.

“Cora, you need to calm down, okay? I totally don't get your point of view and I don't want us going back and forth without proper context so please, what the fuck happened?”

“He's been going through hell since you died!” She exclaimed and then took steadying breaths before continuing. “He has been making stupid rules in the pack. They were planning a revolt before the battle and the moment he told us he was coming here, we thought you'd forgive him so things could go back to normal but after fighting your war for you, you send him back without even giving him a chance!”

My eyes narrowed automatically.

“So he's destroying his pack because I didn't forgive him for hurting me and mating with someone else a few hours after our mate bond got cut? He didn't even bother to ask why! And you're angry that I'm happy? Can you hear yourself?”

“But he's your mate!”

“And so is Ares and Axel, but you don't see them trying to stop me from being who I am or fulfilling my destiny! They are trying everything they can to make this world a better place and Kane comes to “help” and doesn't even have any atom of repentance over what he did. In fact, he was still talking to me like I was trash, right in the middle of a battle that nearly took my life!”

“There's no way he'll do that,” she was shocked. “He went to that war to pacify you so things could go back to normal. The pack was willing to join NightShade now that there's news of a monarchy forming up,”

“We can't have that large a number in the capital anyway. Look, I'll come to the pack and we'll explain what's happening to them so they'll stop the whole talk of revolt and all that. But he has to stop being a jerk to his own people,”

“The whole reason he's being that way is because you left and didn't come back. I advised you to and now I'm regretting it completely,”

I shook my head, done with the whole conversation. I'd thought she was here because of something serious, but I had a feeling Kane sent her here by himself with this whole crap.

I stood up and she mirrored my actions, a look of confusion on her face.

“Cora, I'm really grateful to you for advising me to leave. It's the best thing that I did with the condition I found myself in but I don't owe it to you or anyone to forgive Kane. He doesn't love me and the mate bond was the only reason we were together. Right from the beginning, he was always a jerk and I'm happy that the bond snapped so I could see who truly loved me, mate bond or not,”

“So what are you saying, you won't be coming back?”

“No. I and Kane concluded that the relationship was over, well, I told him it was and his attitude showed me he was fine with it so I don't even understand what's going on here,”

“So why haven't you rejected each other then? You want to keep him on a leash so that you can make him do your dirty work?”

It was shocking to see Cora turn against me so much. I know she loves her brother with every fiber of her being but this was quite shocking.

“I don't know if you noticed but we just got back from a war. I was on my deathbed and he took his forces and left. At what point was I supposed to do that? Let him know that he can come with my parents so we'll do this and he can be with his new mate,” I finished with anger in my voice.

“What new mate? He doesn't have anyone,”

“What do you mean he doesn't have anyone? The moment the bond dissipated, he was with someone else,”

“That is impossible. Maybe he might have been with one or two mateless women in the pack but you're the true Luna. No one can take that position until you're dead,”

I was shocked at how flippantly she was reacting to everything.

“Wait, it's totally normal for wolves to cheat on their mates?”

“What do you mean cheat? You literally just said the mate bond snapped. That's a gray area, you can't punish him for that. Look, my brother is a shell of himself and it's all because of you so you need to come and do something about it!” She demanded, her tone stern and angry.

“Cora, I think it's time for you to leave,” I replied, holding back the flow of power that came with my anger. I didn't want to hurt her.

“What do you mean, leave? You need to come with me so you can make this right!”

“Whatever he's using to blackmail you, I'm sure if you talk to me about it, we can resolve this. But if you are genuinely of this thought process and conveniently forgetting how he got me pregnant deceptively, just so he could –”

“He was trying to keep you safe, you ungrateful bitch! My brother is losing his mind and tearing the pack apart and you're talking about some stupid shit!” She growled, her eyes switching colors immediately.

I held back the sudden surge of power that was begging me to end her for talking to me with such disdain but thankfully, I'd not forgotten all the ways she'd been a great friend when I got back to DarkMoon Pack. But I knew that if I kept engaging her, I was definitely to do something I might regret

So I walked out on her, but not before sending a few guards in to take her out of the pack. She might not be involved in major wars but I've seen the woman in combat, one regular guard won't be enough to take her out. As I walked out of the path that led to our house, I could hear the struggle as she was escorted out. I'll call Kane later and get his side of this weird story but I had more important things to attend to at the moment.

I teleported to the kitchen where Axel was plating the food he had just finished cooking.

The problem was that I'd lost my appetite.
