The Tripartite Mate Bond Chapter 67: CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN

“ARES’ POV”

As I came to, I could hear voices but I found it really hard to open my eyes or even move my limbs but from the sensations on my right arm, I knew Aurora was in this same spot with me.

O couldn't put my finger on it, but something was awfully wrong. The last memory I had was… Kane drugging us? It was hard to believe but the memory wasn't dissipating.

The fog gradually lifted in my head before my eyes opened and I couldn't believe what it saw.

A witch and someone that looked vaguely familiar were trading words but I couldn't hear what they were saying. They were in some sort of bubble, making me shake my head and try to access the situation.

Two dragons were on the other side of the extremely large compound, growling at each other and if one paid closer attention, you could see the difference in the shade of their colors and I remembered Aurora speaking about her dragon and the twin. If they resorted to fighting, I doubt we'll survive it.

That was when I realized the predicament we found ourselves in. For whatever reason, Kane had delivered us and Aurora into the hands of her enemy and was dumb enough to trust them. Right now, he was tied up with the rest of us in a witch circle.

“How did we get here?” I asked no one in particular, my limbs feeling like they've been in one state for a very long time

“It's Kane. For some reason, he wants to destroy our mate bond and he doesn't even care about the consequences!” Axel replied, his tone showing what I felt.

Anger.

“We need to get out of here immediately. I don't think Aurora is feeling too good, I can barely hear her breathing”

“Damn, I feel like I've been asleep for ages. Um, is that a salt circle around us? I doubt there's anything we can do about it” I heard the bastard's voice, like he had been asleep for a while. There are just levels one can go to achieve their desires but this was extreme.

“Brother, look! There's an opening right in front of me” Axel exclaimed, giving me a glimpse of hope.

“Then let's try and unite this rope. I don't think we have much time” I replied, my mind going crazy at the thought of losing my mate; our mate who this ass-wipe tried to take away from us.

“Guys, where are we? What's happening?” Kane asked and we both growled in anger.

The audacity of him to pretend he didn't know what was happening.

I ignored him and began tugging at the rope.

“Be careful, I don't think Aurora is awake, she's not moving. The rope might hurt her” Kane said to me in a gentle tone but it only infuriated me further.

“You talk like you care about her in any way. If anything happens to her, you bas*tard, I'll kill you with my bare hands!” I screamed at him, my wolf getting equally mad.

“Wait, there's clearly a miscommunication somewhere. I don't even remember how we got here. In fact, I don't remember anything from the last … week” he said, confusion lacing his tone.

“You put our mate and her dragon in danger, you drug and drag us here to be tied like slaves and you still have the audacity to pretend you don't know what is going on?!” Axel shouted at him.

“Boys! Boys! Calm down. Now, there's no need to get all confrontational with each other and stop stressing about that rope. I've got it enchanted so you can't untie it. But we have a bigger problem on our hands. Your precious mate is dying” the witch, who was done with her secret conversation with the other man declared, sending us all into shock.

“That is a huge lie. If she was seriously sick, we'd all be in the same condition. Our mate bond is special” Axel said what was on our minds.

“That may be true but she kind of sacrificed herself with that power pearl she placed in your midst. Foolish of her to expect you all to save her in return” she drawled, walking round us as she spoke.

“Of course we will save her. You don't imagine you are stronger than three Alpha wolves, do you? And her dragon is here” I replied, why she would say such a thing scares me.

Even though I still felt the bond as strongly as before, a part of me was terrified they had succeeded in their plans.

“What do you want!?” Kane demanded.

“Oh, what do I want? Hm. Let's see. For one, I would like to have my mate back. You see, he was everything to me but one day, I woke up and I heard he died in a stupid clash with his pack's enemies. In anger, I have spent most of my long, long life making sure you all keep killing yourself because you don't get to take what's mine and not feel pain!” She shouted.

Damn, a heartbroken witch is what we have to deal with today.

“Look, we are really sorry about your mate's death but no one here had anything to do with it.” Axel said which infuriated her further.

By now, the dragons had come down to where we were tied and one of them began sniffing us, making the hairs on my neck singe and burn like hell. Aurora had a high body temperature all the time but the breath coming from the dragon was at a different level.

“No, you didn't but your ancestors did. And until I stop feeling this way, everyone connected to that blasted pack will suffer. Also, my dragon wants to be queen when the darkness comes because Lyra here is weakened by her rider without even realizing it. Even though she's not human as we had believed, whatever she is now, isn't any better”

“That is where you are wrong, witch! Aurora is a Princess, born from the ancient lineage of original dragon riders and the last surviving heir of the Arkonos bloodline. It is on that premise that Scarlet wants to control her, it has nothing to do with weakness!” The dragon, who shocked me by actually speaking, shouted at the witch and she quickly ran to her dragon for safety.

“You promised you weren't going to hurt her, Lyra,” Scarlett said in a cautious tone.

“Yes, and if you don't want me to go back on my words, tell her to undo this witchcraft! The Princess is about to cross into the nether realm and I would not want to drag us to hell to save her” she bellowed.

The witch didn't need to be told twice, she scampered and began scattering the salt circle and untying the ropes

Then the tedious process of getting my mate away from the hands of the god of limbo began but this time it was easier; we had two dragons with us.
