No Wife, No Life Chapter 125

Alvina, a figure of almost mythical stature, was the foremost authority on electronic information technology in the country.

Back then, the first generation of intelligent robots she designed and developed had been far ahead of both domestic and international standards.

Even though she had been gone for so many years, her stories still circulate widely in the industry.

She was beautiful, elegant, and poised, yet also willful and wild. These seemingly contradictory traits made Alvina one of a kind.

Some said she was a fierce and powerful woman, like a wolf.

But would the wild Alvina really fake her own suicide?

Harper recalled that day vividly; she opened the bedroom door to discover Alvina adorned in an elegant black evening gown, her makeup flawless, lying on the bed as if she were just peacefully sleeping.

Her glossy arm dangled off the bed, and an empty bottle of sleeping pills was on the floor next to her.

Before she died, she didn't even leave a word.

If Alvina wasn't dead, then what was the body Harper saw that day?

She had watched Alvina's burial with her own eyes.

Or maybe Alvina really did find a way to fake her death.

After all, she was a scientist, and with her stubborn and wild nature, faking her own death wouldn't be too hard for her.

"Alvina, please, come back." Brad couldn't hold back anymore, covering his face with his hands as he cried.

Harper had never seen him so heartbroken.

Did he really love Alvina?

Harper's eyes dimmed, and her brows furrowed even more.

Just as Brad had mentioned, back then, he possessed nothing but a handsome face. His status was ordinary, and he lacked any exceptional talents.

Why would someone of Alvina's noble standing marry him?

If Alvina were still alive, was everything now under her control?

Or was she really hiding in the shadows, watching everything unfold?

"No matter what, you lied to me." Harper steadied her emotions and spoke slowly, "No one knows the truth about you and Alvina except you."

"However, the fact is, you hurt Dennis, and there's no denying that you forced him into taking the exam for others. So, I can't find it in me to feel any sympathy for you. For everything you've done and all the debts you owe, I can't forgive you."

His emotions were completely shattered, making any further communication impossible.

As Harper sensed staying any longer was pointless, she shot Brad a cold glance and turned to leave.

Before leaving, Harper glanced at the stunned Emily and sneered, "Emily, did you hear that? Your mother was just a toy, someone nobody cared about."

"Brad never liked your mother. He was madly in love with Alvina."

Emily trembled with rage, unable to say a word, glaring at her with hatred.

Suddenly, Brad's weary voice echoed behind her. "Harper, she's still alive. She's watching you."

Harper shouted,"You're insane. Alvina is dead. You saw her body, didn't you?"

"It was fake. No one else found it, but I did. She'll discard her toys when she's done playing. I know her too well. She must hide somewhere no one can find. She's a madwoman who only cares about herself." He started laughing maniacally.

Harper couldn't wrap her head around it. If everything Brad said was true, then what did all these years of her feelings for Alvina mean?

If Alvina was really alive, why did she abandon her and Dennis? Did she really not know what they would go through? Or did she just not care?

Maybe Brad was right.

Alvina didn't love Brad, Harper, or Dennis. She only loved herself.

Harper was dazed for a moment but eventually left.

The living room fell silent.

Brad's pupils no longer dilated, and his expression gradually calmed.

Emily stared at Brad's face, her expression twisted with anger. "Is what you said true or false?"

"Of course, it's false." He said coldly,"I was just distracting Harper. Take this chance to find Alex and sort this out."

Emily snorted, a smug look on her face.

"I knew you were lying to deceive Harper. If you truly cared about Alvina, you wouldn't have allowed me to bully Harper."

Emily sneered, "Only that fool Harper would believe your lies."

Brad cast Emily a profound and exhausted gaze. "Go find Alex."

Emily nodded, changed her clothes, and hurried out.

The large living room was left with only Brad.

In just a moment, he seemed to have aged significantly.

After a while, he staggered to his feet, walked to the top of the stairs, and took out a key to open a room.

His hands trembled as he opened the door.

The room was covered in dust, and the flying particles made him cough.

For so many years, he hadn't dared to open this door, afraid to face everything inside.

Harper didn't know that this was Alvina's room. Everything of hers was still here, untouched.

He stood in the center of the room, closed his eyes, and envisioned Alvina's visage.

She always wore her hair in a bun, dressed in elegant gowns, her figure graceful, and a serene smile on her face.

He reached out his hands, wanting to touch her cheek, but felt nothing.

He slowly opened his eyes, walked to a desk, pulled out a drawer, and took out a thick stack of manuscripts.

These were some of Alvina's work journals, the handwriting delicate, yet filled with deep emotion.

There were a few scattered sentences.

[Declan, dying for love is great, but for you, I can live for love.]

[Declan, come see me in my dreams. I miss you so much.]

[Declan, what should I do? Even if he looks like you, he's not you. I still miss you deeply.]

The man Alvina affectionately called Declan was the one she truly loved.

When Brad saw these, his heart was completely shattered.

It turned out he was just a stand-in for Declan, and Alvina had orchestrated everything.

She was so selfish, giving all her love to Declan, unwilling to share even a bit with Brad.

When she returned from abroad, she had Harper.

He knew Harper wasn't his daughter, but he still hoped that with Harper's presence, Alvina would stay by his side.

But he was wrong.

After giving birth to Dennis, she ruthlessly and resolutely left the Orsini family, and him.

So why should he be kind to them? Harper and Dennis had no blood relation to him after all.
