"Alex."

She called out, her voice shaky, hoping he'd have her back.

Alex was her boyfriend, so naturally, she looked to him for support when she felt wronged. Several words from him meant more than a thousand from her.

But he stayed silent, not even meeting her eyes.

Harper chuckled softly, like she just noticed Alex.

"Oh, I forgot we had company. Did I say something to upset your girlfriend? What are you gonna do, defend her?"

Alex's eyes were dark and calm.

"Don't say unnecessary things in the future."

He spoke coldly, but it was directed at Emily. He left out one more thing: stop provoking Harper.

Emily was stunned, her eyes filling with tears.

She turned her head away, sulking silently.

Anger surged within her. She wouldn't blame Alex, but she directed all her resentment towards Harper.

That woman, even after divorcing Alex, still tried to seduce him. Why did all the men flock to her? Was it because she was beautiful? But Emily was beautiful too.

The car was silent, the atmosphere tense.

After about ten minutes, the car stopped in front of the company. The three of them got out and entered the elevator one after another.

"Harper, come to my office later."

Alex said.

Harper nodded. "Sure, Mr. Lavien."

Her response was polite but carried a sense of distance.

When the elevator doors opened, Alex strode out, walked through the office area, and went straight into the CEO's office.

Harper returned to her own office first, put down her bag, prepared some documents, and then knocked on the door of the CEO's office.

Alex sat in his large, luxurious chair, eyes fixed on the computer screen, not looking at her.

"Did you review the collaboration project with the Reeves Group?"

Harper nodded. "Is there a problem?"

"If you reviewed it, there shouldn't be any issues."

Harper was puzzled, not understanding why he suddenly asked.

For several minutes, he didn't say anything else, his fingers flying over the keyboard, seemingly forgetting her presence.

"Mr. Lavien, is there anything else?"

Harper was confused about why he called her over, just to ask that one question?

"No."

He answered flatly.

Harper was speechless. "Then I'll get back to work."

Alex paused, looking up as if he remembered something.

"Harper."

Just as Harper was about to leave, a voice called out.

She turned around quickly and saw Kaitlyn Lavien.

Kaitlyn was Jeremy Lavien's daughter. Jeremy was Alex's uncle, so Kaitlyn was Alex's cousin.

"Hi Kaitlyn, what brings you here?"

Harper smiled and walked over.

She hadn't told them about her divorce from Alex, so Kaitlyn still considered Harper as Alex's wife.

Kaitlyn warmly linked arms with her, smiling brightly. "Harper, our school is hosting an alumni event tomorrow, and I want to invite you to be my piano accompanist."

Harper playfully glared at her. "I'm busy, find someone else."

There were plenty of people who could do it, she didn't have to ask Harper.

Kaitlyn pouted, clearly annoyed. "No, I want you. I don't like anyone else."

Harper frowned on purpose but knew she couldn't win this one.

Kaitlyn was stubborn, but she adored Harper, and they had a great relationship.

"Harper, will you agree or not? If not, I'm not leaving today."

She let go of Harper, crossed her arms, and plopped down on the couch, sulking.

Harper had no choice but to sit beside her, tapping her forehead lightly. "How old are you, still acting like a kid?"

Kaitlyn looked at her expectantly. "Harper, will you do it?"

Harper sighed. "You won't give up, so how can I refuse? You're the Lavien family's princess, I can't afford to offend you."

Kaitlyn beamed, kissing her cheek. "I knew you'd be the best."

They chatted and laughed, ignoring Alex behind the desk as if he didn't exist.

At that moment, the office door swung open, and Emily walked in.

She completely ignored Harper and Kaitlyn on the couch, walking straight to Alex with a sweet smile.

"Alex!"

Kaitlyn was startled, jumping up from the couch.

"What did you call him?"

Alex wasn't a name just anyone could use.

Emily looked at her, confused.

Who was this woman? Why was she here?

"Who are you?"

Emily asked, bewildered.

"Why did you call my brother that?"

Kaitlyn didn't answer Emily's question, striding over with a fierce look.

Emily was stunned. This beautiful woman was Alex's sister.

She forced a flattering smile, her tone softening. "Hi, I'm Alex's girlfriend."

At this moment, she had to reveal her identity.

She was Alex's girlfriend, and no matter what, the other woman would be friendly to her for Alex's sake.

Unexpectedly, Kaitlyn jumped up, glaring at Alex. "Alex, what are you doing? Are you like those people who find mistresses? When did the Lavien family allow such disgraceful things?"

Emily quickly explained, "No, your brother and Harper are divorced. We're together openly."

Kaitlyn was stunned.

Alex and Harper divorced? How could that be?

She turned to Harper, incredulous. "Harper, what did my brother do to you? You've been together so long, how could you just divorce?"

Harper smiled bitterly. "Kaitlyn, your brother asked for the divorce."

She hadn't wanted to make it public, but now she couldn't hide it anymore.

Suddenly, Kaitlyn rushed to Alex's desk, glaring at him. "Alex, you divorced Harper for this woman?"

She pointed at Emily.

Emily was displeased, quickly speaking up. "I'm Emily Orsini, a daughter of the Orsini family."

Kaitlyn was completely confused.

What did being a daughter of the Orsini family mean?

She looked at Harper again, not understanding the situation.

Harper smiled coldly, speaking calmly. "She's the result of Brad's affair with another woman."

Kaitlyn understood immediately.

Emily was an illegitimate child.

Her mother had taken Harper's father, and now she was taking Harper's lover. How could someone be so shameless?

"So, because of you, my brother divorced Harper?"

She walked over to Emily, her eyes almost spitting fire.
