Actually, Chloe and Jacob were technically engaged, but there wasn't much affection between them.

Years ago, when she first met Jacob, she fell for him at first sight. Back then, she was young and impulsive, always believing that she had to get what she wanted. So, she pressured her family to arrange an engagement with Jacob. However, over the years, they hadn't had much interaction.

She didn't know Jacob, and Jacob didn't know her either.

After they got engaged, she didn't cling to Jacob but focused on her research work. In her view, as long as they were engaged, it was like putting her mark on him, and no one else could covet him.

She believed that she and Jacob would eventually get married; it was just a matter of time.

But the reality was that engagements could be broken, and marriages could end in divorce. Nothing was eternal.

She had to admit, she came to Majestic City with her own agenda. As Jacob transferred the HoloSphere Technologies headquarters here, his relationship with Harper grew increasingly intimate, which genuinely concerned her.

She did harbor some malice towards Harper.

She knew Harper was engaged to Caden, so Harper should be mindful of her behavior and keep a distance from other men.

She couldn't allow any other woman to get close to her fiancé.

Chloe's eyes flickered with thought.

Emily failed to discern her thoughts, merely taking the photographs from her hands and placing them on the desk.

"Chloe, look at these. They're evidence. Harper is engaged but keeps flirting with other men. Alex Lavien, Frank Parker, Arthur Davis, and even that kid Mason Cruz."

Chloe glanced at the photos on the table. She didn't care much about what Emily said. 

After all, she was rational enough to know that not all these men could be involved with Harper. 

But if one or two were false, there had to be some truth among so many, especially Mason from the Cruz family. She knew he liked Harper.

Besides, Caden's legs were broken. Harper might say she liked him and didn't care about that now, but what about the future? Could she really be devoted to Caden forever?

Once Harper left Caden, these men would swarm in.

Chloe stared at the photos, her eyes growing colder.

After a moment, she grabbed the photos and threw them forcefully at Emily's face.

Emily was shocked and confused, not understanding what had angered Chloe.

No wonder people said Chloe was unpredictable. It seemed to be true.

"Chloe?" She looked at Chloe with wide, puzzled eyes.

"Do you think I'm an idiot?"

Chloe glared at her. "What are you trying to do? Do you plan to use these photos to provoke me against Harper?"

"You've been following Harper and took these photos, but remember this."

"You'll never reach her level. Her mother is Alvina Taylor, and your mother was just a barmaid. You're not worthy of comparing yourself to her, so you'd better stay far away."

Chloe's tone was filled with disdain.

Emily remained silent, enduring it, but she knew her words had hit Chloe's sore spot.

At least now, Chloe had more animosity towards Harper. Even if she didn't team up with Emily, she wouldn't let Harper have an easy time.

Emily suppressed the malice in her eyes and slowly got up from the floor.

Chloe didn't spare her another glance, waving her hand for the bodyguards to throw her out.

Even though she was tossed out like trash, Emily didn't feel humiliated. She walked away laughing, like a madwoman.

With Emily gone, the room returned to silence.

Emily indeed had struck a nerve with Chloe.Those photos were still scattered on the floor.

Chloe looked down, her gaze falling on the photos again.

The first one she saw was Jacob and Peyton following Harper, as if deliberately guarding her from harm.

Jacob was her fiancé, yet he insisted on protecting another woman. How ridiculous.

Her eyes moved to another photo, showing Heidi smiling brightly with Harper.

Her eyes grew even colder.

Jacob never took her to meet his family, but he introduced Harper to his sister. So, in Jacob's eyes, was Harper more important than her?

For a moment, she felt an inexplicable urge.

She wanted to ask Jacob directly, why.

But if she did, she  would become a joke. She wouldn't do that out of her pride.

She had to stay on top, never giving anyone a chance to mock her.

Even if she knew the truth, her strong pride wouldn't let her bow down.

She looked up coldly at the bodyguard. "Tell Quinn to come see me."

Receiving Chloe's message, Quinn rescheduled his meeting to see her.

When Chloe saw Quinn, she frowned slightly.

"I heard Harper is planning to bid on the national robotics project. Send me the information. I'll give you a proposal tonight, and I'll help you with the bid."

This was an implicit agreement to team up against Harper.

Many were competing for this bid, but Harper was the frontrunner, so most assumed the project was hers, with other companies just playing along.

But with Chloe involved, it was a different story.

FusionX Company boasted Harper and Manuel's excellent research team, yet Chloe possessed her own development team that ranked among the world's finest, not to mention she already had mature products on the market.

If Chloe joined the bid, the outcome was uncertain.

Regardless, FusionX Company might be  in for a tough time.

This was exactly what Quinn wanted.

He raised an eyebrow, his smile deepening. "Of course, I can send you the information right now. I look forward to Ms. Wright's surprise."

He sent the files via his phone.

Chloe quickly reviewed them.

In a brief glance, she saw Quinn's smiling face and couldn't help but feel irritated.

"Can you stop looking at me like that? It's disgusting."

Quinn was speechless, his smile freezing.

What did he do? If he didn't smile, should he cry? Chloe's mood swings were really unpredictable.

But he knew better than to argue and turned to leave. "Alright, I won't bother you anymore, Ms. Wright."

His goal was achieved. He had invited Chloe to team up with the Lavien Group to deal with Harper, and Emily approaching Chloe was also his and Alex's idea. Otherwise, how would Emily know Chloe's whereabouts?

The show was starting, and now it was up to Chloe to handle Harper.
