After the Wood Company was auctioned off, the court would first use the proceeds to settle employee wages, insurance, compensation, and other dues. Only the remaining funds would be used to repay loans and debts.

Once the bankruptcy process was complete, the Wood Company would have nothing to do with Harper. She had no obligation to pay the employees; the court would handle everything.

Marvin tried to dissuade her, "Harper, you shouldn't get involved in this. The court will take care of it."

Harper pondered for a moment, "Mr. Elikin, I have an idea. I wonder if you would agree with it?"

"What is it?" Marvin asked.

"I intend to sell Brock's shares in the Wood Company to HoloSphere Technologies; these funds would be perfectly allocated to settle employee wages. As you're well aware, proceeding through the courts would be a protracted process, and the employees cannot afford to wait—they may resort to actions detrimental to the enterprise."

In truth, Harper didn't trust Marvin and Brock, so she wanted to buy out their shares bit by bit, partly to stand up for Caden and his mother.

Marvin thought Harper was out of her mind. Why would she do such a thing?

Marvin's face turned grim as he questioned Harper. "Why sell Brock's shares, but not Caden's?"

Harper looked at Marvin and slowly said, "Mr. Elikin, have you ever wondered why Noah came here to target the Elikin family?"

Honestly, Marvin had never thought about it. Even if he had, he couldn't figure it out.

"Noah told me his fiancée eloped with someone. Who do you think that person could be?"

Marvin was stunned by Harper's words.

"Are you saying it was Brock? Brock ran off with his fiancée? Is he crazy?"

"Impossible! Brock would never do something so foolish! You must be lying!"

Marvin couldn't believe it and called Brock, but his phone was turned off.

"He's lost his mind! How could he do this? That was Noah's fiancée. What was he thinking?"

Marvin felt uneasy.

Harper tried to reason with him, "Mr. Elikin, think about it. If you don't sell Brock's shares now, what will Noah do? How will he target you? I can't say for sure. You know Noah's temperament."

Marvin understood Harper's point. "Fine, sell them."

After weighing his options, Marvin had no choice but to agree.

These past days, the press had begun extolling Harper's virtuous deeds—how she had adeptly managed the Wood Company's bankruptcy proceedings and miraculously rescued the enterprise from collapse.

Harper was now seen as the new face of female entrepreneurship.

Seeing the reports, Noah couldn't help but call Harper, "Ms. Orsini, you should keep those shares. If you need funds, I can lend you some."

Harper declined his offer and patiently explained, "I'm selling the shares Marvin held for Brock."

Hearing this, Noah immediately understood her intention and couldn't help but chuckle.

After hanging up, he felt his concern was unnecessary.

Harper was so astute; she had thought everything through more thoroughly than he had.

After Harper sold the shares to Jacob, an unexpected visitor barged into Jacob's office.

The man walked in, took off his hat, and said directly, "Mr. Harris, I'm Brock Elikin."

Jacob looked up, surprised. "Mr. Elikin, what brings you here?"

"Amelia Martin broke her leg while we were on the run. I was worried Noah would take her back and torment her, so I hid her."

His face was etched with weariness and hardship.

"So, Mr. Elikin, you really did elope with Noah's fiancée?"

Brock lowered his head, silently confirming it.

Jacob was speechless. "Great."

Because of him, the Wright Group had come to Majestic City and targeted FusionX Company.

"I had no choice. Amelia said Noah was a madman who would keep her locked up, not giving her any freedom. I felt sorry for her and genuinely liked her, so I ran away with her. I didn't expect the Elikin family to suffer because of it." Brock's voice was filled with regret.

"Then why did you come back now?"

Brock sighed, "I heard Harper was going to sell my shares. Mr. Harris, did she sell them to you? Those are my shares. She can't do that. They're my lifeline."

Jacob almost laughed in anger. "Brock, how your shares are handled is something you need to discuss with Harper. I won't transfer them back to you just because of a few words."

Brock was stunned. He wasn't ready to face Harper.

At that moment, Jacob took out his phone and called Harper. "Harper, I have news for you. It's about Brock."

Harper's voice was calm. "What news?"

Before Jacob could answer, Harper slowly said, "Brock and Ms. Martin are back, right?"

"Yes, they're in my office now."

"Jacob, bring them over. I'll be waiting in my office at FusionX Company."

Jacob agreed and hung up.

Harper sat in her office, her expression cold. She knew exactly why Brock had returned. For the sake of those shares, he had the nerve to come back?

Just then, there was a light knock on the door. Noah pushed it open and walked in casually.

He was there to discuss a collaboration with Harper. "So, did you read the documents I sent you?"

Noah sat down and asked nonchalantly.

Composing herself, Harper spoke directly, "I shall review this later. I'm expecting a visitor momentarily. You may take your leave now."

Unexpectedly, Noah smirked. "Brock and Amelia are coming, right?"

Harper was surprised. "You know?"

But she quickly understood. He was Noah. If he wanted to know something, no one could hide it from him.

"I knew as soon as they set foot back in Majestic City."

In fact, Noah thought he would be excited, angry, or lose control when he heard Amelia was coming back. But he suddenly felt nothing. He may no longer have feelings for Amelia.

"Brock is back for those shares. So, what are you going to do?"

Harper's eyes gleamed with confidence. "Since Marvin already transferred the shares to me, Brock won't get them back."

"If it weren't for Brock, FusionX Company wouldn't have been targeted. Those shares are the price he has to pay." Harper spoke with certainty. 

For some reason, Harper felt an inexplicable disgust for Brock. Because of his background, because of what he did to Caden, and now because he had implicated FusionX Company. Given her nature, she would never let him get those shares back.
