Chloe was fuming. "Anyone who wants to mess with you has to get the Wright family's approval first."

To her, the Wright family's status was an unbeatable trump card. No one could challenge it.

When they got engaged, it was like this, and it still was. As long as she didn't agree, no one could touch what was hers.

Jacob's expression changed slightly. His gaze fell on her face, and the gentle smile he had been wearing disappeared.

"Chloe, do you really think we're a good match?"

Before he could finish, Chloe interrupted him. "A good match for what?"

She gazed at him with frigid eyes. "My desire to marry you stems from my belief that you are worthy of being with me. After all, not just anyone deserves to be by my side."

Her underlying message was clear: Jacob should be grateful. It was his luck that Chloe chose him!

Her eyes were filled with arrogance and a condescending pity.

Just then, the food was served.

Jacob looked lazy, with no desire to argue further. He picked up his coffee and sipped it slowly, not even glancing at the dishes on the table.

He was clearly showing silent resistance.

Chloe's fury reignited with vehemence. She reflected upon the photographs Emily had presented to her, depicting Jacob alongside Harper, his countenance adorned with a tender and indulgent smile—a striking juxtaposition to his current demeanor.

Even if he claimed his feelings for Harper were purely familial, he still spoiled her, indulged her, and protected her.

So what did that make her? She should be the most important person to him, right? She was his fiancée, while Harper was just his sister with no blood relation!

"If you don't want to eat, then leave. Don't sit here with that cold face." She said angrily.

Jacob gave her a deep look, then put down his cup and got up to leave.

Watching his resolute departure, Chloe was almost too angry to eat.

Looking at the steaming dishes on the table, she suddenly laughed.

She was the Wright family's heiress. She couldn't learn to please others and would never apologize for it.

She didn't think she was wrong. It was Jacob who had no boundaries and had let her down.

Chloe stood up with a calm smile, straightened her clothes, and turned to leave.

"Ms. Wright."

As she stepped out of the room and into the lobby, she saw a man lounging on the sofa, looking a bit lazy.

He had a face that was almost devilishly handsome, stunningly beautiful.

It was Peyton.

Chloe had seen him before, but every time she did, she still felt a stir in her heart. Such a beauty must be God's favorite.

Even just sitting there, he looked like a perfect statue.

"What are you doing here?" She looked at him, puzzled.

"Jacob came here, so I followed. But I didn't want to intrude on your private time.  But it seems Jacob made you angry?" Peyton asked with a playful smile.

Seeing his carefree attitude, Chloe frowned slightly. "What happens between him and me is none of your business."

"Don't be so angry." Peyton still wore a smile.

"I just wanted to ask, Ms. Wright, are you really only set on Jacob?"

Peyton pointed to himself. "I may not come from a big family, but I think I'm doing quite well now."

His demeanor was indeed impressive; his status was also prominent since he was the Vice President of HoloSphere Technologies."And as for my looks, you can see for yourself. I don't think many men can surpass me." Peyton was very confident in his appearance.

"So what? Your excellence and looks have nothing to do with me."

Chloe didn't want to deal with him.

Peyton continued to smile. "Yeah, you're right, but it's about me wanting to be involved with you."

Chloe was taken aback.

He was bold, daring to say such things.

She paused, then turned to look at him. "I am Jacob's fiancée."

"Well, can you not be?"

Chloe looked down at him. "I think you and Jacob are both crazy. Have you mentioned this to him? Didn't he beat you up?"

Didn't he understand that a friend's fiancée was off-limits? What was he thinking?

Peyton sighed deeply.

"I considered Jacob's feelings, which is why I'm here to test the waters with Ms. Wright. Is there any chance you might break off the engagement with him?"

He was bold indeed. He knew Jacob had no feelings for Chloe. To Jacob, Chloe was no different from a stranger.

For Peyton, it wasn't that he particularly liked her. He mostly admired her.

He just wanted to see if it was possible, and as expected, she rejected him.Chloe was furious. "You're dreaming!"

Peyton frowned slightly, a bit unwilling. "Alright, then. Ms. Wright, would you be interested in watching a movie with me? I heard there's a highly-rated comedy out now."

Chloe responded, "I think you have ulterior motives. Are you trying to take up my time so I can't go to the lab and do my research?"

Peyton was momentarily stunned, then laughed. "Ms. Wright, do you really think that?"

Chloe didn't respond. Instead, she took out her phone and sent a message to Jacob.

[Peyton wants to take me to a movie. Should I go?]

She sent the message on purpose to see Jacob's reaction.

A moment later, Jacob replied.

[Do whatever makes you happy.]

It was laughable. He didn't care at all!

Even if she went to a movie with another man, he didn't mind.

Fine, in that case, she would go to the movie with Peyton. It wasn't a big deal.

"Alright, Peyton, let's go see a movie."

Peyton was momentarily stunned, thinking he had misheard. After a moment, he smiled and stood up.

"This is unexpected, but it's my pleasure." He teased.

As they walked out of the hotel, Chloe saw a familiar car parked not far away before she even got into Peyton's car.

Before she could react, the car window rolled down.

It was her brother, Noah.

"Wait a moment," she said, walking over and opening the car door.

Noah ask lightly, "So, are you planning to change fiancés? Well, Jacob is cold and indifferent, unlike the charming Peyton."

"Noah, what nonsense are you talking about? Jacob is my fiancé."

Chloe was a bit angry.

Noah analyzed, "You were so young when you got engaged. You probably don't have much affection for him, just a sense of unwillingness."

"I think you and he are not a good match. You should find someone else."

Chloe was speechless. Why did everyone think she and Jacob were not a good match?
