Harper's gaze grew colder.

"Arthur, from the moment you commenced inflicting pain upon Molly for Xavia's sake, the matter transcended being solely between the two of you. I won't let you bully Molly."

"If anything happens to Molly, I won't hold back against you. You know my current status and power. I promise I'll make you pay."

Harper was confident in this. Her status and power were her greatest strengths.

"You think too highly of yourself." Arthur sneered.

He knew Harper's power, but he also knew she got her investment by using Molly. Even though her social standing had been considerably elevated, her past wasn't exactly honorable.

Without Molly, Harper wouldn't have succeeded so quickly.

Maybe Harper would have succeeded eventually, but it would have taken much longer.

In his eyes, Harper's current position was all thanks to his investment.

Harper's bright yet cold eyes showed a hint of anger. "That's exactly what I want to say to you."

The two were in a standoff, neither speaking.

After a long silence, Harper finally spoke, "Arthur, you should know I'm not bluffing. If I say I'll make you pay, I will."

The coldness in Harper's eyes was evident. She poured herself a cup of hot tea, a hint of mockery crossing her face. "The Davis family is a mess. Not everyone wants you in charge. Replacing the heir wouldn't be difficult."

"You're too arrogant." Arthur mocked, "Who do you want to replace me with? Edwin?"

Edwin was practically his mortal enemy within the Davis family. His father had cheated before his mother was even pregnant, resulting in Edwin. Over the years, Edwin had been making moves to dethrone Arthur and take his place.

Harper knew exactly who Edwin was.

Edwin wasn't just Arthur's enemy; he was also Xavia's fiancé. Choosing Edwin was disgusting to her.

Harper gripped her cup tightly, her gaze heavy as she looked at Arthur. After a long pause, she spoke, "You're Caden's friend. I don't want to be your enemy. I only hope that you don't hurt Molly."

On one hand, Arthur was Caden's childhood friend. On the other, Arthur had indeed helped her a lot.

If she acted impulsively and made an enemy of Arthur, she would feel she was being too reckless and irrational.

"Ethan is attacking your businesses abroad. Have you retaliated?"

"You haven't even sorted out your own issues, yet you have the time to meddle in my family affairs. Harper, don't overestimate yourself."

Arthur's words were clear and merciless.
