After work, Harper drives back to the apartment. On the way, she happened to pass by Summit Heights High. Unconsciously, she took a few more glances. It was still the familiar environment, as if yesterday had reappeared. Summit Heights High carried her four years of high school memories.

At this moment, Harper heard the school's broadcast announcing information about the SAT exam, reminding students of its importance. It turned out that the SAT exam was approaching. Suddenly, she thought of her brother Dennis, who should also be preparing for the SAT this year. Dennis was sent away by Brad when he was very young. Over the years, she had asked Brad where exactly he had been sent. Brad always told her that Dennis was abroad. If she asked more, Brad would refuse to say another word. He knew that Dennis was Harper's weakness. With him around, Brad could always control Harper.

At this moment, Bruce Wilson was coming out of the school gate, boarding the bus with a cold expression. His home was in an old apartment building on Happy Street. He didn't want to go home at all. His only hope now was to take the SAT as soon as possible and escape that home. To him, that home was a nightmare.

The bus's final stop was the street where his home was located. He got off the bus and hurried home. When he reached the door, he found it unlocked and ajar. Bruce's brother Duke Wilson's voice came from inside, "Dad, what do you think of the plan I mentioned?"

Bruce's father, Colin Wilson, replied, "This won't be illegal, right? I heard they're cracking down on exam proxies now."

"I'm telling you, ordinary people wouldn't dare to take the exam for someone else, but think about it, these aren't ordinary people; they're people with status in this city. Besides, he's so good at studying, if he doesn't make it this year, he can take it again next year. The most important thing is, we can get a substantial reward."

There was a moment of silence in the room.

"What if Bruce doesn't agree to take the exam for someone else?"

"That's why I'm discussing it with you."

Standing outside the door, Bruce heard everything clearly, feeling extremely cold inside. Were they plotting to make him take the exam for someone else? Suddenly, Bruce pushed the door open and entered. For a moment, both of them stopped, their eyes meeting, and no one said a word. Bruce just gave them a cold look, walked straight into his room, and shut the door tightly.

"He didn't hear us, did he?" Colin nudged Duke's arm.

Duke, feeling a bit guilty, said, "No, he had his headphones on, he definitely didn't hear."

But Bruce did hear. He didn't understand why, even though he and Duke were both Colin's sons, the treatment was so different. Since childhood, all the good things were given to Duke. When Duke struggled with his studies, Colin hired a tutor. When Duke didn't want to attend public high school, Colin paid for private school. W hen Duke was idle and unmotivated, Colin still indulged him. But what about himself? He won first place in a math competition and was going to the finals, but Colin said the travel expenses were too high. He excelled in programming, but Colin said the tuition was too expensive. He wanted to attend Summit Heights High, but Colin complained that going to school was useless and he should start working early. He didn't understand why it was like this, even though he was better than Duke in every way.

At first, he questioned Colin, but Colin always evaded and gave vague answers. Now he didn't bother to ask anymore; he just wanted to get into college as soon as possible and leave this home.

The next day.

Early in the morning, Harper arrived at the office.

As she was about to enter her office, she overheard two employees from the secretarial department talking.

"Emily didn't come to work today. I heard she got into a car accident on her way here."

The other employee scoffed, "What car accident? She just got grazed by a car. I saw her call Mr. Lavien about it."

Harper was paused for a second before she shrugged it off and went into her office to get to work.

Alex was listening to Travis's report when his phone buzzed. It was Emily.

He glanced at the screen, a flicker of annoyance crossing his face, but he picked up.

"What is it? I'm busy." His tone was icy.

"Alex, I was in a car accident. Can you come see me?"

Her voice was soft and weak, full of desperation.

Alex hesitated for a moment.

"You were in a car accident?"

"Yes. I'm at the hospital. Can you come see me?"

She pleaded again.

"Send me your location."

A moment later, he got the address. It was the hospital where Frank worked.

He hung up the phone.

Witnessing the scene, Travis shook his head and walked away with his files.

In the hospital room, Emily looked like she'd been through hell.

"Dr. Parker, it won't affect my bones, right? Should I get a CT scan or something?"

Brad was also in the room. He hadn't been seriously ill; he had just fainted from anger that day and quickly recovered.

Frank's family and reputation in Majestic City were on par with the Lavien Group, though in different fields.

Of course, they knew about his relationship with Alex and wanted to curry favor.

"Dr. Parker, Emily's been through a lot. Does she need surgery?"

Frank almost laughed in exasperation.

"She's just got a scrape. What kind of surgery do you want to do?"

Emily pouted, looking aggrieved. "Dr. Parker, you've seen so much, so of course, it doesn't seem like a big deal to you. But I was really scared, and it really hurts."

Frank almost couldn't hold back his laughter.

Just then, the door opened, and Alex walked in.

Frank shook his head at him and turned to leave.

"How is she?" Alex stopped him.

Frank gave him a disdainful look. "See for yourself."

He couldn't stand to stay in the room any longer.

Seeing Alex, Emily almost burst into tears.

"Alex!"

Alex looked at her, noticing that she wasn't seriously hurt.

"Alex, I was so scared. The car came right at me, knocked me down, and then drove off. I thought I'd never see you again."

"Where are you hurt?"

Emily carefully lifted her bandaged arm, looking pitiful. "Here. It's the same spot where Harper got hurt. Alex, do you think she's getting back at me?"

She looked at Alex with innocent, fearful eyes.

"She got hurt yesterday, and today I had a car accident. Isn't that too much of a coincidence?"

Alex pondered. He understood what she was implying, but could Harper have done it?

"Alex, can you ask Harper if she did this?"

Alex hesitated, but eventually took out his phone and called Harper.

The call connected quickly.

"Mr. Lavien, what can I do for you?"

Her voice was calm, strictly businesslike.

Before Alex could respond, Emily spoke first.

"Harper, I was in a car accident."

There was a moment of silence on the other end.

Then Harper chuckled lightly. "Well, you deserved it."

With that, she hung up the phone.
