Mark stayed quiet.

But Kaitlyn knew him too well. The more silent he was, the more it confirmed the truth.

"Why?" She couldn't wrap her head around it.

"It was dad who asked me to do this."

After a moment, Mark finally spoke.

Kaitlyn was even more confused.

Sure, Mark wouldn't go against Alex, but her dad? Why would he do this? Hadn't Alex done enough?

Mark looked up, fixing his gaze on her, and spoke slowly, "Dad loves you very much. He says you are his most beloved daughter, and he hopes to present the best of everything in the world to you, including the Lavien family's legacy, to make you happy and fulfilled. He believes you also have the ability to take over the Lavien Group."

Kaitlyn shook her head slightly. "I know my dad does it for me, but he never asked if I wanted it."
