No Wife, No Life Chapter 232
Travis finally felt a sense of relief.
He had been worried about causing trouble for Harper, but now that he knew Harper hadn't gone out of her way for him, he felt a bit better.
Harper said, "Alright, let's go."
Travis nodded, and the two of them got into the car.
As they drove, Travis looked out the window and caught sight of a skyscraper—the Lavien Group Building.
He turned back to watch the building fade into the distance, his eyes shining as if he were saying goodbye to his past.
"Honestly, I still feel concerned about the trio from the Lavien Group parting ways like this," he said softly, a hint of melancholy in his voice.
Harper comforted, "Without the Lavien Group's trio, there will be the FusionX Company's trio, or the HoloSphere Technologies' trio. Do you really have to cling to the Lavien Group?"
Harper's words did lift his spirits a bit.
"Actually, let us proceed to the Sapphire Dining Room immediately, where I shall introduce you to some people."
Harper didn't specify who they were meeting, just that they were colleagues. Travis guessed they were from FusionX Company.
When they arrived at the Sapphire Dining Room, they got out of the car.
Unfortunately, as soon as they walked in, they ran into Alex.
He wasn't alone; Quinn, Frank, and a few others were with him, seemingly having a gathering.
"Want to join us?" Frank asked Harper casually.
He was a friend of both Alex and Harper.
Harper was speechless.
Given the current situation, how could she possibly join a Lavien Group gathering?
"Are you sure?" Harper glanced at Quinn.
Alex's eyes were fixed on Harper, but he said nothing. Quinn, however, smiled nonchalantly. "I don't mind if you join us, Harper. Are you coming?"
He was something else. Despite their falling out, he could still call her so warmly, as if nothing had happened.
Harper was about to respond when she heard a soft laugh behind her.
"Still trying to win over our CEO?"
It was Peyton's voice.
Harper turned to see Peyton leaning against the wall.
He had dyed his hair a striking shade of blue, which appeared rather peculiar; fortunately, his exceptional good looks made him resemble a character who had stepped directly out of an animated film.
Surrounding Peyton were Jacob, Felix, and her secretary, along with Dennis and Caden.
"Harper, we've been waiting for you," Dennis said as he approached her.
Harper nodded slightly and turned to Frank. "We'll catch up another time. I really have something to do today, sorry."
Frank just smiled in response.
As Harper walked away, Alex's eyes never left her.
Even when he was pulled into a room, he was still dazed, Harper's smile replaying in his mind.
Suddenly, he recalled how affectionate she had been with Caden in the car earlier, causing the pain in his heart to intensify considerably.
He knew Harper was driving him crazy.
She was like a forbidden substance—untouchable, but once touched, impossible to quit.
The atmosphere in the room was tense. Frank poured himself a cup of tea and sipped it slowly. He was very health-conscious and rarely drank alcohol, even at gatherings.
Quinn seemed indifferent, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth as he flipped through some documents.
Alex silently opened a bottle of red wine and drank glass after glass.
No one tried to stop him, because they knew it would be futile.
After three cups of tea, Frank finally spoke up, "If Harper were still at the Lavien Group, and the trio remained intact, I fear even FusionX Company would struggle to surpass the Lavien Group."
As an outsider, he could see things more clearly.
He sighed, as if lamenting the situation.
It was unclear whether he was lamenting the Lavien Group or Harper and Alex.
Quinn put down his documents, his eyes gleaming. "This won't last long."
Frank raised an eyebrow, not understanding what he meant.
Quinn said, "Chloe Wright is coming back. Do I need to introduce her?"
Everyone knew Chloe.
Chloe, the youngest daughter of the Wright family, had risen to stardom in her teens before leaving the entertainment industry to focus on research, becoming a renowned figure both domestically and internationally. She was also Alex's senior.
Frank was taken aback.
The Wright family's influence was centered in Starlight City, a prestigious family in high society. The three Wright siblings—Noah, Lucas, and Chloe—had all inherited the family's superior genes, with high IQs.
Chloe, spoiled from a young age, had dabbled in the entertainment industry during her teenage years before retreating at the height of her fame.
She then went abroad, earning top marks in a combined bachelor's and master's program before joining an overseas research group.
At eighteen, she formed her own research team, contributing to many of the Wright Group's new products.
While Harper targeted Luminary Innovations Inc., Chloe faced off against the international giant Nexus Global Group.
If there was anyone in the country who could rival Harper in terms of female capital, it was Chloe.
Chloe's beauty, intellect, and connections certainly rivaled Harper's; the only area in which she marginally fell short was her emotional intelligence.
Spoiled from a young age, Chloe was often blunt and harsh.
If Chloe returned to the country and chose to join the Lavien Group, Harper and the FusionX Company would have a real problem.
After all, Chloe could do everything Harper could; they had the similar connections, and they were equally skilled in research.
They were natural rivals.
Quinn had clearly planned this, inviting Chloe back to target Harper.
Frank rubbed his temples. "If I remember correctly, Chloe is Jacob's fiancée, and Jacob is the CEO of HoloSphere Technologies. How can you be sure she'll side with the Lavien Group and not HoloSphere Technologies?"
"If Chloe chooses HoloSphere Technologies, it's like choosing Harper. That would be a disaster for the Lavien Group."
Quinn smiled confidently. "Chloe's greatest strength is her reliability. She'll keep her promises."
"The Lavien Group may have lost Harper, but it still has Chloe. It may have lost Travis, but it still has her two brothers. The Lavien Group has never lacked talents. Being surpassed by FusionX Company is temporary. We'll reclaim what's ours."
Frank had nothing to say.
He was smart enough to realize Quinn had thought this through long ago, perhaps even planning it since the day Harper left the Lavien Group.
Harper was popular online, but she couldn't compare to Chloe.
Chloe had been in the entertainment industry, boasting a prestigious background, high intelligence, and good looks. Everyone spoke highly of her.
Harper, on the other hand, didn't have Chloe's level of fame.
Quinn's invitation for Chloe to return to the country at this point clearly indicated his intention to enlist her assistance in confronting Harper alongside them.
