No Wife, No Life Chapter 221
Neal dropped to his knees and bowed deeply to Harper.
The sudden scene left everyone in the room, including Marvin and his son, completely stunned.
Neal looked up at her, his eyes filled with fear instead of calculation.
He repeatedly knocked his forehead on the ground three times in obeisance, then apologized with trepidation. "Ms. Orsini, please forgive me! I was wrong!"
Neal knelt down, his hands pressed together on his knees, his head bowed low.
Before the live broadcast started, he never imagined that, with the police unable to find any evidence, he would be so desperate as to beg Harper for mercy, pleading for his life.
Brock was completely shocked and stammered, "What's going on here?"
Suddenly, Marvin pulled him back and shook his head slightly, signaling him to stay quiet.
Harper didn't say a word, her eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at Neal with indifference.
Neal kept begging for mercy, over and over again.
Harper sneered.
As long as Harper remained silent, Neal could only bow his head like a criminal.
He knew he had no dignity left, but he had no choice; he just wanted to survive!
Felix watched Harper with a strange look in his eyes.
This was a side of her he had never seen before—ruthless, cold-blooded, and cruel.
Manuel leaned back in his chair, watching with interest.
Harper and her mother Alvina possessed remarkably similar temperament. Years ago, Alvina had sought revenge for Declan in the same way. No wonder, she truly was Alvina's daughter.
Neal continued to beg for mercy.
"Ms. Orsini, please spare me! Don't broadcast the video!"
Finally, Harper spoke slowly, "Years ago, Luminary Innovations Inc. devised a genius plan. They selected many students with above-average intelligence, trained them, and then had them infiltrate various industries in other countries. Coincidentally, you were one of those geniuses."
Neal remained silent, kneeling on the ground.
"Hundreds of exchange students would receive scholarships and training funds worth billions of dollars. For Luminary Innovations Inc., this was nothing. Their plan was to have you gradually undermine the systems of other countries' industries."
Neal still didn't dare to speak, cold sweat dripping from his forehead.
Harper added, "Your mother was also arranged by this organization to marry a foreigner. They controlled you through your mother. Am I right?"
Neal closed his eyes, a tear falling from the corner.
"If this video is broadcast, they won't spare you, nor will they spare your mother. Your other relatives will also be implicated."
Her tone was slow, almost casual, but each word was like a knife stabbing into Neal's heart, pushing him to the brink of collapse.
"You are currently safe in this country, but what about your mother and brother? Do you think they will be spared?"
Upon hearing this, Neal trembled uncontrollably. He remained silent, his eyes reddened with emotion as he continued to kowtow repeatedly.
"Ms. Orsini, please spare my family! I am willing to be a double agent, to steal Luminary Innovations Inc.'s trade secrets for you. Ms. Orsini, I will do whatever you ask, just please spare my family."
He kowtowed again and again until the ground was stained with blood, a horrifying sight.
One of the executives spoke in a trembling voice, "Ms. Orsini, please don't let him continue."
Another executive cautiously added, "Being a double agent could work."
Harper's eyes flashed, and she chuckled, "You really think using someone like him as a double agent is a good idea?"
She stared at Neal's deeply bowed back, her voice icy, "People who betray their country for money have no bottom line. If he can betray his country and betray Luminary Innovations Inc., he can betray all of us eventually."
"Such people only care about immediate benefits. What value does he have?"
Neal's motion froze.
Harper had seen through his nature. Indeed, he would not be loyal to anyone; he would only be loyal to himself.
"But if you don't help him, his mother and brother..." someone still kindly reminded Harper.
"There's nothing that can be done. His mother made her choice, which led her son to make the same choice. They must walk the path they chose, even if they have to crawl."
The executives were speechless.
Harper glanced at the executive who had pleaded for Neal, her voice cold, "You should think about what will happen if Neal succeeds. What will happen to the employees of FusionX Company? What about the results of our hard work? They are plundering the wealth of our entire country, and you are sympathizing with a group of traitors. Do such people deserve your sympathy? Whose side are you on?"
The executives were stunned, then lowered their heads in shame.
Indeed, Neal was not a citizen of their own country. When Neal betrayed FusionX Company, he should have expected this day. They shouldn't go easy on a traitor.
Neal straightened up, his face covered in blood, looking at Harper with utter despair.
"Ms. Orsini, I beg you! I promise to serve you from now on! Ms. Orsini, my brother is only eight years old. He is innocent. Ms. Orsini, please spare him!"
Tears of regret streamed down Neal's face.
Harper looked at him calmly and said flatly, "I didn't call you in here to make you apologize or to see you in this state. I just wanted you to understand that when people do wrong, they must pay the price."
"As I said, you must walk the path you chose, even if you have to crawl. Your brother is a foreigner; protecting him is not our responsibility. If I were you, I would call international emergency services right now and apply for a protection order."
It was too late to change anything now.
He knew his fate, but what could he do? Thinking of his family, Neal was utterly desperate.
Moments later, his expression changed, and he lunged at Harper.
He wanted to take Harper down with him.
Manuel and Felix kicked him away, sending Neal sprawling on the ground.
Harper glanced at him coldly, clapped her hands, and her assistant immediately opened the door. Several security guards rushed in and dragged Neal away.
"Harper, I'll kill you! If anything happens to my family, I'll make you wish you were dead. Harper, you're a lunatic, a bastard! I curse you; I'll curse you for the rest of my life! You'll go to hell!"
His shrill screams gradually faded away, leaving the room in dead silence.
Harper remained unmoved, her expression calm.
Those vicious threats wouldn't affect her.
At this moment, Harper turned her gaze to Brock.
Brock quickly looked away, not daring to meet her eyes.
Harper then turned to Felix, "What agreement did you sign? It's time to resolve this matter."
