No Wife, No Life Chapter 195

Emily pushed open the door to Alex's office.

Her head was foggy from lack of sleep, and the bright lights above made her eyes water even more.

She wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes and quietly approached Alex.

Alex's computer screen was on. He was logged into his Facebook account, and the first thing she saw was a post from Harper.

He was looking at Harper. He was thinking about Harper. He was in love with Harper. He had Harper in his heart.

Just like Quinn had whispered in her ear earlier, he said Alex didn't love her; he had always loved Harper.

Emily had never felt so clearly the intense feelings Alex had for Harper.

The words she wanted to say were stuck in her throat, unable to come out.

Her eyes were filled with tears, but she forced herself not to cry.

Emily clenched her hands, her fingernails digging into her palms, sending a sharp pain through her body.

In her mind, she repeated over and over, 'Harper, Harper, Harper...' from initial confusion to intense hatred.

Her entire life, she had been overshadowed and oppressed by Harper.

Harper was the legitimate daughter; she was the illegitimate one.

She had always been inferior, even when it was unveiled that Harper wasn't Brad's biological daughter; she remained a scorned illegitimate child.

Emily's mother hated Emily. Her father hated her. Even the protection she thought she had from Alex was being taken away.

Her heart ached unbearably.

"Alex."

Emily wiped the obvious hatred from her face and threw herself into Alex's arms. She held on tightly, afraid that if she didn't, Alex would push her away.

Alex's face showed no emotion. He continued scrolling through Harper's post, feeling Emily deliberately trying to seduce him, so eager yet so lowly.

Her attempts to seduce him disgusted him.

At that moment, it felt like Harper was mocking him through the screen.

His eyes turned cold, and he forcefully pushed her away.

Caught off guard, Emily fell to the floor.

Her knees hit the ground hard, bruising instantly.

Emily sat on the floor, hands supporting her, looking up at Alex in disbelief. "Why?"

Alex looked down at her, his expression cold, his lips curling with a hint of frost. "Emily, remember your place."

Emily laughed bitterly, "My place? What place?"

"It was you who, out of gratitude, treated me with such care and gentleness. You agreed to my request, said you would divorce Harper, and you allowed me to do those things to Harper. I am like this because of you. So you have to marry me. You must marry me. I am completely ruined."

Emily thought it was all Alex's fault.

If Alex hadn't treated her kindly, she wouldn't have developed those ambitions and base desires; she wouldn't have seen herself as the future wife of the Lavien Group's president.

"I saved you. I saved you. If it weren't for me, you would be dead. You have to repay me. You must marry me. I have no other way out."

She was almost hysterical, sitting on the floor like a madwoman. She would do whatever it took to achieve her goal.

Alex closed the webpage, his cold gaze slowly falling on her face, the chill in his eyes seeping out.

"Emily, I'm not marrying you!"

He was blunt, not caring if Emily could handle it.

Emily's tears fell uncontrollably. Her hands clenched tighter, her inner hatred reaching its peak.

Why?

Why did everyone adore Harper? Even the contemptible Quinn held Harper in high esteem, while these same people gazed at her with disdain.

She had had enough.

Emily bit her lip, staring at Alex.

The hatred in her eyes was so obvious; Alex saw it all.

He looked at Emily, who was throwing a tantrum and going crazy in front of him.

He asked himself why he had given up Harper for her.

If it weren't for her, Harper would still be his wife. Their child wouldn't have been lost. Harper would have given birth to their child and stayed by his side forever.

It was not like now, where Harper and he were kept at a distance.

"Emily, I'm not marrying you!"

He repeated, shattering her hopes completely.

Emily lowered her eyes, her hands clenched, her body trembling slightly.

Everything she had planned was easily overturned by Alex.

She wouldn't become Alex's wife. She would always be seen as a lowly illegitimate child, always ridiculed.

Alex wouldn't marry her?

Emily knew Alex's character well. Once he had spoken, no matter how much she went crazy, she wouldn't get what she wanted.

Her eyes dimmed, her voice hoarse, "Clear my name. I don't want to be called an illegitimate child."

"I saved you. Since you won't marry me, you have to ensure this. You will help me live freely."

If she couldn't become Alex's wife, she had to negotiate. She no longer placed all her bets on Alex.

She had to fight for the greatest benefit.

"I can only arrange for the PR department to remove the news. As for your status..." He paused, his gaze indifferent, "That's the truth, isn't it?"

She was an illegitimate child. No matter how much she tried to clear her name, she couldn't change her birth.

"Then put all the blame on Brad. He deceived my mother and hid his identity to gain her trust."

"The one at fault is Brad, not me."

"I am innocent. My mother gave birth to me without asking my opinion. If I had a choice, I would never choose to be Brad's daughter."

Alex looked at her deeply, then slowly spoke, "Leave."

He didn't respond further, but he had given her an answer. He would help her.

Emily slowly got up from the floor, looking at Alex from a distance, her figure desolate as she left.

As she left, she could still hear the Lavien Group's secretary and other employees gossiping about her, all mocking her.

She quickened her pace, stumbling into her car. Just as she was about to start the engine, she noticed a handsome stranger sitting in the passenger seat.

The man seemed to be dozing. Hearing the noise, he only slightly furrowed his brow.

Emily was startled.

Finally, he opened his eyes, his gaze calm and indifferent, his voice cold.

"Ms. Orsini, nice to meet you. I'm Mark Lavien." He smiled lightly, "Alex's brother."

Emily was taken aback.

She didn't know Alex had a brother. She had never heard of him. "I don't know you."
