The information Brad had given Harper was overwhelming, and she struggled to process it all at once.

After a few days of feeling down at home, she finally pulled herself together.

Peyton called to inform her that everyone involved in the cheating scandal had been arrested, except for the Orsini family—specifically, Brad and Emily.

Even the key witnesses, Colin and Duke also changed their testimonies at the last moment, merely stating that they were deluded by greed and wanted to make some money, and that Brad had nothing to do with it.

Harper didn't buy it.

She was only down for a few days, and then everything changed.

Unable to contain her anger, she arranged to meet Colin and Duke.

The two were being held in a room together. When they saw Harper, they initially shrank back.

But then they remembered they had powerful backing. After all, they had Alex on their side.

They had already made an agreement: they would plead guilty to shield Brad, and after serving a few years in prison, they would be rewarded with a fortune, sufficient for them to live in luxury for the rest of their lives.

For that kind of money, they were willing to take the risk.

Even though they were a bit scared of Harper, they believed she couldn't do anything to Alex.

"Hi, Ms. Orsini," Colin greeted her with a smug grin, showing no fear in his eyes.

Harper didn't waste time on pleasantries. She directly asked about the cheating scandal and why they were covering for Brad.

Colin refused to admit anything. "Ms. Orsini, we take responsibility for our own actions. This has nothing to do with Mr. Orsini. I've made myself clear, what more do you want?"

He even brought up Alex, thinking Harper would understand and back off.

"Mr. Lavien has made it very clear to us. We are to tell the truth and not falsely accuse Mr. Orsini."

Colin put on a righteous facade, as if he were the real hero.

The room had a foul smell, and Harper wrinkled her nose, standing coldly and looking down at Colin.

"Are you trying to use Alex to intimidate me?"

As he had guessed, Harper was smart and saw through his intentions immediately.

Colin chuckled awkwardly, not denying it, but his expression was undeniably gloating.

Harper gave a cold smile and called Alex.

It seemed Alex was in a meeting, as she could hear someone reporting work, but he still answered her call.

"Mr. Lavien, I want to resign." Her voice was light, almost indifferent.

The meeting was at a critical point, and Alex paused the manager's report, his expression grim.

For once, his usually stoic face showed signs of anxiety.

Without a doubt, he was nervous.

His voice was low but stern. "Harper, are you out of your mind?"

He had never expected Harper to be this way.

She had always seemed indifferent, in personality, tone, and even appearance. But after their divorce, he realized Harper was fiercely aggressive and almost uncontrollable when she lost her temper.

Since the divorce, Alex had always felt Harper might leave the Lavien Group at any moment, and he had been worried about her resigning. Now, she had finally done that.

He was uneasy. "Think it over and call me back."

He hung up abruptly.

He was giving Harper a chance, hoping she would reconsider.

He definitely didn't want Harper to resign, and he didn't even want to hear her say it. Afraid she might call again, he turned off his phone.

The phone hit the table with a loud thud. The meeting room fell silent. He scanned the room coldly, his voice icy and slightly angry. "Continue."

Meanwhile, in the room, Harper held her phone, a faint smile on her face.

"Did you hear that? Do you really think I'm afraid of Alex? Let me tell you, he has never been my support. You fear him, but I don't. Since you've chosen money, you'll just have to wait for the verdict. By then, I'm sure you'll be placed in the best prison, with the best cells and the friendliest inmates. I'm sure you'll have a very pleasant few years. You'll thank me then."

Her expression was calm, but the cold smile on her lips was chilling. Her gaze made Colin's heart race with fear.

Colin stammered, "Mr. Lavien said he wouldn't let anything happen to us."

Harper's eyebrows arched slightly. "Indeed, Alex assured that no harm would come to you here, but as for whether you will get into trouble elsewhere, that's hard to say. Perhaps someone might harbor ill will towards you and act against you, and no one would be able to stop it."

"Like someone getting hit on the head or choking on food. Accidents happen all the time, don't they?"

With that, Harper turned and left without another glance.

She knew that talking any further was pointless.

She understood Alex. If he had decided to help them, he would have made sure all evidence against Brad was erased.

Leaving the police station, she decided to go straight to the Lavien Group.

Just then, she saw Caden leaning against his car, lazily lighting a cigarette.

Seeing her come out, Caden put out the cigarette and tossed it into a trash can.

Caden asked, "Going to the Lavien Group?"

As expected, Caden had already guessed the outcome.

Harper nodded and got into the car.

At the Lavien Group, Caden stayed close to her, almost like her assistant rather than the president of the Elikin Group.

They went straight to the conference room.

The meeting was still ongoing, so Harper sat in a nearby chair to wait.

An employee of the Lavien Group soon brought over two cups of coffee. "Ms. Orsini, Mr. Elikin, please enjoy your coffee." The employee was very respectful.

Everyone at the Lavien Group knew Harper's status and contributions. Over the years, she had done so much for the company, and everyone respected her deeply.

Caden took the coffee, handed one to Harper, and then took his own.

He smirked and joked, "Harper, maybe I'll just follow you to the Lavien Group for coffee from now on."

Before he finished speaking, the conference room door opened.
