No Wife, No Life Chapter 269
Alvina spoke bluntly, not caring about his feelings.
"Compared to them, the Elikin family is a mess. Your dad, your brother, and the top shareholders of the Elikin Group are all complicated people. Harper's only been hurt by being with you."
Alvina had done her homework on everyone Harper had been involved with and everything she had gone through, which only made her look down on the Elikin family even more.
Her gaze grew more disdainful as she continued.
" You might have given her the most precious and important things you have to her, but to me, those things are worthless."
"Those things mean nothing to Harper. You just got lucky and took advantage of her vulnerability after Alex hurt her."
That was the truth.
Harper was a very rational person, except when it came to matters of the heart.
Caden had shown up at the perfect time. Alex had asked for a divorce, Emily had framed her, and she was forced to leave the Lavien Group. In her most desperate and helpless moments, it was Caden who stayed by her side.It was often in these moments that people were most susceptible to being profoundly moved.
At that time, Harper developed a dependence on him.
Most importantly, Harper was pregnant then.
In her most helpless state, Caden's words touched her. She agreed to be with him, not wanting her child to be born without a father.
Once she committed to a relationship, Harper took it seriously.
That was how they became each other's beloved.
But from Alvina's perspective, Caden wasn't the best choice.
Looking at Alvina, who was being so critical of him, Caden just frowned slightly.
"I do think I'm incredibly lucky to have met Harper in this lifetime."
Caden admitted this frankly.
To him, it was indeed Harper who had blessed him.
Alvina hadn't expected him to admit it so readily.
She frowned, knowing Harper's nature well. She knew that once Harper chose a path, she would stick to it no matter what.
If Alex hadn't insisted on the divorce, Alvina believed Harper would have stayed with him for a lifetime.
So now, even though Alvina had many grievances against Caden, she had to hold them back.
"Caden, you better always treat Harper well, or you'll regret it."
Caden's gaze remained steadfast. "Of course, even without your reminder, I will perpetually regard her as the most paramount individual in my existence."
Alvina gave him a deep look. "You better keep your word."
In truth, there wasn't much more to say between her and Caden.
Harper woke up several days after Alvina. During those days, Caden had been undergoing treatment, so they hadn't seen much of each other.
Alvina's life was very routine. She visited Declan and Harper daily and occasionally took walks around the island, enjoying the scenery.
Orion was quite friendly towards Caden, frequently discussing the island.
A few days later, Harper woke up. Her condition was similar to Alvina's, her mind foggy, as if she had woken from a long dream, only to find reality.
She thought about what Declan had said to her, and in her daze, she seemed to hear Caden's voice.
She blinked and saw Caden sitting in a wheelchair, her eyes lighting up.
For Caden, it might have only been twenty days since he last saw her, but for Harper, it felt like an eternity.
Caden took her hand.
Orion and the medical staff came in to check her condition, finding no issues.
After the check-up, Orion left with the medical staff, leaving the two alone.
Before leaving, he had thoughtfully prepared clean clothes for Harper.
Harper, having just woken up, needed to freshen up. Fortunately, there was a bathroom in the room.
After a quick shower, she came out and immediately threw herself into Caden's arms.
"Caden, Caden."
She wrapped her arms tightly around him, her voice soft, almost a whisper.
To her, it had been so long since she had seen Caden.
In Declan's world, she always felt she had a lover. She kept searching, but none of the people she met were him.
When she woke up and her memory fully returned, she realized how much she loved him. She truly couldn't live without him.
Harper said, "I missed you so much."
Hearing her words, Caden's eyes filled with joy. "I missed you more."
He smiled, but then noticed her wet hair. "Hold on, let me dry your hair."
He picked up the hairdryer from the sofa, which Orion had likely prepared in advance.
He gently rubbed Harper's head and turned on the hairdryer, drying her hair.
Harper closed her eyes contentedly, like a lazy cat, looking incredibly cute.
Once her hair was dry, she threw herself into his arms again, nuzzling against his chest.
Caden chuckled helplessly.
"My hair is dry now." Her voice was soft, with a hint of seduction. Before Caden could respond, her lips were already on his.
She had longed for Caden with such profound intensity that even in that alternate realm, despite her inability to establish contact or rendezvous with him, she remained acutely aware of having a beloved—someone who cherished her profoundly. Thus, upon beholding Caden once more, she yearned for proximity to him.
Their lips and tongues intertwined, their bodies pressed tightly together.
Harper panted, but her arms only tightened around him.
Then Caden lifted his head, his brown eyes gazing deeply into hers. She couldn't help but smile and leaned in to kiss his eyes.
"Not here." Caden, still rational, whispered.
Harper found it amusing. When had she ever had such strong desires?
Caden took Harper's hand and kissed it gently.
This was Alvina's room, and who knew if there were cameras inside.
Alvina's place definitely had cameras!
Besides, this was a lab. How could there not be surveillance?
Thinking of this, Harper let out a small, dissatisfied hum but knew he was right. She leaned in and playfully bit his ear.
She was deliberately teasing Caden, making his breathing heavier.
She leaned against him, pulling his hand to wrap around her waist.
"Did you see Mr. Robinson?" He asked.
Harper nodded. "Of course I did."
Caden asked, "Can you tell me what happened?"
"How to put it... it was like entering a story world. There, I had a father and a mother. My father loved me very much. He was the greatest father I had ever known." She spoke with conviction.
