No Wife, No Life Chapter 265
"DA Group Building, huh."
Manuel's expression shifted slightly, but only for a moment.
He had Orion's business card.
So, maybe Alvina had arranged for Orion to contact him a long time ago. Maybe she hadn't completely ignored him after all?
Manuel was silent for a moment, then dug out Orion's business card. Staring at the contact information printed on it, he dialed the number directly.
It was an international number, but it went through.
After about half a minute, a gentle male voice came from the other end.
"This is Manuel Bailey."
There was a brief pause, as if the person on the other end hadn't expected his call, but then Orion responded slowly, "What can I do for you, Mr. Bailey?"
"Where's Harper?"
Manuel got straight to the point, skipping any pleasantries.
The person on the other end seemed taken aback by the sudden mention of Harper. After a moment of silence, Orion finally responded, "That's a good question. But this was Harper's choice. She decided to meet with Ms. Taylor. I can only say she'll be back, but it might take a little longer."
"Mr. Bailey, you should be aware of Ms. Taylor's past research. You know Harper won't be in any danger. Ms. Taylor won't harm her."
Manuel almost laughed in frustration.
"It's been nearly ten days without any word from her. Do you think Harper has nothing else to do here? She has a commitment with Chloe to update the intelligent system for a competition within a month. If she doesn't show up, people will think she's scared and ran away."
"You should know how significant this is to Harper."
Orion paused, then slowly said, "Ms. Taylor mentioned that if this situation arose, Mr. Elikin could come see me. I would arrange for Mr. Elikin to meet Ms. Taylor and Harper."
At this, Caden almost blurted out, "I'll go."
Manuel gripped his phone tightly, feeling a strange sense of loss. His gaze turned cold. "Why can't I go?"
"Mr. Bailey, don't you understand? If you came here, you'd likely crack the data encryption and find Ms. Taylor's location. That's too risky. Your unpredictability is too high."
"Besides, isn't Mr. Elikin Harper's lover?"
Orion's words left Manuel momentarily speechless.
In fact, Manuel had to admit, he was right.
Orion continued, "If Mr. Elikin is ready, I'll personally arrange for someone to pick him up."
Orion paused, seemingly confirming the schedule, then slowly said, "Around nine o'clock tomorrow morning, I'll personally bring someone to FusionX Company."
Caden replied, "Alright, I'll make the necessary arrangements."
The call ended.
With Harper's whereabouts confirmed, Dominic and Stephen stopped worrying, but Manuel felt a deep sense of dissatisfaction.
But there was nothing he could do, so Manuel had to endure it for now.
The following day, Orion arrived punctually at FusionX Company, making a most grandiose entrance. He had astonishingly secured flight clearance in advance from domestic authorities, having journeyed aboard the company's private aircraft.
The news of DA Group's president personally visiting FusionX Company quickly spread, becoming a hot topic.
Since DA Group's influence was undeniable, FusionX Company's stock prices soared, fueled by rumors of a potential collaboration with DA Group.
No one speculated anymore that Harper had fled out of fear. Some guessed she might be meeting with DA Group to discuss a partnership.Meanwhile, Orion, accompanied by bodyguards, entered FusionX Company. They were led to the conference room, which was already filled with people. Caden, Manuel, Dominic, Stephen, Jacob, and Peyton were all present.
Despite the crowd, Orion remained calm and composed.
"Nice to meet you all. I'm Orion Robinson." He was steady and seemed very at ease.
Orion didn't plan to stay long at FusionX Company. After briefly explaining Harper's situation, he prepared to leave with Caden.
As they were leaving, Orion noticed several unfriendly gazes directed at him.
Following the direction of the stares, he saw a tall, stern-faced man, a refined man beside him, and a beautiful woman with an impatient expression.
Orion recognized them immediately.
Alex, the man beside him was Quinn, and the woman was Chloe.
Of course, he knew Alex, Harper's ex-husband who had hurt her.
For a moment, Orion's expression froze.
Why were they here?As they approached, Orion stopped, maintaining a faint smile, but his demeanor radiated coldness.
Alex stepped closer, his gaze fixed on Orion's face. "Where's Harper?"
He was here for Harper.
He hadn't heard from her in days, as if she had vanished. He was anxious, scared, and couldn't focus on anything else.
Upon learning that Orion from DA Group was at FusionX Company, he guessed the reason and came with Quinn and Chloe to see Orion.
He just wanted to confirm Harper's safety.
Quinn's gaze lingered on Orion, looking somewhat odd.
Orion looked at him calmly, then suddenly smiled. "And who are you to ask me that question?"
Orion ignored Quinn, his intense gaze locked on Alex, his words sharp.
Alex couldn't stand such remarks.
He knew very well that he and Harper were no longer connected. If someone kept bringing it up, it would only touch his sensitive spot.
His expression turned cold. After a moment of silence, he said icily, "A friend."
Orion laughed.
After laughing, his eyes grew even colder.
"A friend? Do you even deserve that title?"
Orion knew what Harper had been through. Although he wasn't related to Harper by blood and hadn't grown up with her, he still saw Harper as family, because she was Alvina's daughter and bore a striking resemblance to her.
Harper had been hurt by Alex, and now Alex had the nerve to come to him.
Orion swung a punch at Alex suddenly.
Alex didn't dodge, but Quinn quickly stepped in, grabbing Orion's hand. His previously polite smile now carried a cold edge.
"Mr. Robinson, that's enough!"
Orion realized he had been impulsive. Just as he was about to say something, Caden's cold voice interrupted, "Alex, Harper has nothing to do with you. Stay away from her and stop bothering her."
