No Wife, No Life Chapter 202

From the moment he first saw her at the financial summit, Mason had been captivated by Harper. He had gone to great lengths to get into FusionX Company just to be closer to her.

His affection was genuine and intense.

"You're going to raise it? Do you know how to take care of it properly?" Harper asked, her heart softening as she gazed at him.

How could he possibly know how to take care of a cat? Someone like him could barely take care of himself.

Mason shook his head again.

Harper smiled helplessly. "Alright, let's take you to the pet store to get some essentials for her."

She had never met such a reserved affluent kid like Mason before.

Mason nodded immediately, his eyes sparkling.

As Harper was about to get into her car, she noticed Mason walking towards a motorcycle with the kitten in his arms.

"You ride a motorcycle to work?" Harper asked, surprised, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.

It wasn't that she had anything against motorcycles; she was just worried the kitten might get too cold.

Mason nodded. "Yeah, I love motorcycles."

In fact, he had a dozen sports cars at home, all parked in the garage. He relished the sensation of racing like the wind, swiftly carried along by the breeze.

The cool breeze made Harper shiver.

Seeing Mason putting on his helmet, Harper's frown deepened.

"Leave your motorcycle here. It's a bit chilly. Come with me in my car. I'll take you back after we get the supplies."

Mason looked at his beloved bike, which he had assembled himself, and felt a surge of joy. "Okay, thanks, Harper."

Harper then drove Mason to a nearby pet store, where they bought a bunch of essential items for the kitten.

As they were leaving, Harper reminded him, "This kitten is too young to get vaccinated yet. In a few weeks, take her to the vet for her shots. In the meantime, be careful not to get scratched."

Mason thought, 'Harper is this considerate. She was concerned about me.'

Mason's eyes crinkled with a smile. "Got it, I'll remember."

By this time, it was already late. Harper asked for Mason's address, which turned out to be a nearby upscale apartment.

Just as they got into the car, Harper heard Mason's stomach growl.

Through the rearview mirror, she saw his embarrassed expression.

Harper chuckled. "Want to grab a late-night snack?"

"Yeah," Mason replied without hesitation.

The kitten seemed to understand their conversation and meowed in agreement.

Harper laughed more heartily. "Alright, let's go get some barbecue."

They parked near a night market and got out of the car.

It was late, but the street was still bustling with diners.

Harper led the way through the stalls until they found a clean, spacious spot.

A waiter quickly approached with a menu.

Harper took the menu and asked, "Any dietary restrictions?"

"No, none at all. I can eat anything," Mason said, shaking his head. As long as he could be with Harper, he didn't care what they ate. Even if he didn't eat, just being able to look at her was enough.

Harper ordered a few dishes and handed the menu back to the waiter.

When the food arrived, Harper glanced at Mason.

That day, Caden had asked her if she liked Mason.

Why had Caden suddenly asked her that?

Could it be that Mason liked her?

Harper paused, her gaze falling on Mason as she studied him closely.

He was tall and well-built, but now he seemed uneasy under Harper's scrutiny.

He really did seem to like her.

No wonder Caden had asked her that question. He must have already investigated. Was Caden worried because he knew about Mason's feelings for her?"I'll peel the crab for you," Mason said, putting on gloves.

"Don't touch it yet; it's hot," Harper tried to stop him, but he had already picked up a crab, quickly peeling it and placing the meat on Harper's plate.

"It's best when it's hot," he said, smiling brightly, his eyes clear and shining.

That look was so familiar. It was the same way she used to look at Alex.

Harper lowered her gaze, looking at the crab on her plate. Instead of using her utensils, she put on a pair of gloves.

"Ms. Orsini, trust me," Mason said earnestly, his face flushing. "I promise I'll peel it clean."

Harper ignored him, reaching for a crab.

The next second, she quickly withdrew her hand, shaking her fingers. The crab was really hot!

Mason wanted to laugh but was more concerned. He quickly took Harper's hand, removing her glove to check her fingers. Harper didn't have time to stop him before he was already examining her hand.

"Look, your fingers are red. There's a pharmacy across the street. I'll get some burn ointment."

Mason took off his gloves and stood up hurriedly before Harper could respond.

Seeing the worry in Mason's eyes, Harper finally understood that Mason truly liked her.

Caden hadn't asked randomly; he already knew.

Harper felt a bit conflicted. If she had met someone like Mason before Alex, she might have been moved. But now, it was too late.

She had already met the love of her life.

"It's just a little red, not a burn. Why are you so worried?" Harper called out to him.

Mason stood still, frowning with concern. "Are you certain it doesn't hurt at all?"

"Really, it's nothing. Eat your food," Harper said, taking off her other glove and giving him a command.

Mason quickly sat down, put on his gloves, and started peeling the largest crab.

In just a few minutes, Harper's plate was piled high with crab meat, while Mason's plate had only a few pieces.

Even though he was hungry and hadn't eaten a bite, he still wore a happy smile.

"Mason, you don't have to peel crabs for me," Harper said seriously, pushing her plate of crab meat towards him. "One day, you'll meet someone who you'll want to peel crabs for."

Mason's hands froze.

He looked up at Harper, seemingly confused as to why she was bringing this up.

"I've been married before. Did you know that?" Harper said, deciding to share her past.

She thought Mason was too young and probably didn't know about her past. Once he knew, he would surely give up.

"I know," Mason said firmly. "He didn't deserve you."

"You're the most amazing and brilliant person I've ever met. He didn't deserve you."

Of course, Mason knew Alex was Harper's ex-husband. He did care, but he mostly felt that Alex was unworthy of Harper.
